For the rest of the story, the car is all there the only thing not there is the rear bumper reinforcement and the red lights in it. Everything on this car works the horn, turn signals 4 ways head lights interior lights door jamb switches dash lights oil pressure gauge temp and gas gauge volt meter it charges with the original alternator. I believe it to be the original 36,000 miles just from the originality of the car and all the parts on it . Had the original plugs in it I kept them the original wires are still on it and the car is pretty clean for the year the steel brake and gas lines are original and look like the day it was new, all the rubber lines are good no dry rot the trunk seal is still soft hence the clean trunk, and all the wiring is as flexable as the day it was new and un cut. the seats are soft as new a little discoloring is all the dash is perfect no cracks and soft, the headliner is good also it so amazing the stuff on this car it just amazes me. the carpet is dry rotted the shifter cable was broke I found a new one in the car old but still in the original GM bag, at some point someone put a 8 track in it, the dash is not cut up I have the original radio. The trim rings on the wheels are perfect I dropped the gas tank it had the original rubber lines from the tank tothe steel lines I replaced them, and another surprise I found the build sheet. I drained the tank and from the pictures you can see it was clean as a pin inside I took a pic of the trunk floor above the tank look how clean that is, the exhaust is even good might want to change the mufflers though it has the 80s cherry bomb glass packs on it witch are still redish looking. I had the car P.H.S documented I have that. The car was sold here in Mayfield Hts. Ohio on the east side that is where I bought it from was the east side not far from where it was sold new the front floor pans look perfect also. The window trim is all there and very nice as the original wheel well openings and they fit the body perfect the fisher door sill plates are there also very nice, the quarters are solid the right one in front of the tire has a little rust the fenders are clean as is the trunk lid and the trunk is mint the doors look solid also the inside lip is as clean as new. I HAVE A TON MORE PICS I CAN SEND ON REQUEST i could only get 24 on here they are not enough to see the car good . THE REAR SPOILER IS NOT CRACKED LIKE MOST OF THEM EITHER. That was the good now for the bad the car had not been titled in over 25 years so there is no title or record on file with the state I have a bill of sale from a licensed dealer for it so getting a title should not be hard. the guy I got it from pulled the rear quarter windows and let it sit with them out I have the windows so the rear floor pans are rusted but the rest of the floor is nice I found rear pans at Goodmark. The guy started grinding on the car and sprayed whit paint on it to stop rust I quess who knows not head. the right rear quarter had been damaged by the tail light at some point and fixed but the damage doesn't look that bad just wasn't fixed right the lacquer paint is cracked and peeling, windsheild is cracked all the other glass is good. The car is very solid and all original nice car to restore like I said all the date codes on the block distributor, carb , intake water pump all are correct it says 400 on the left side of the block but I cannot find the engine numbers the transmission tag is correct dated also. I know I am leaving a lot out about this amazing survivor . there is a reserve and I will not take less for it . Thanks any questions call Tony 440-503-0929 |

Detroit City Council vetoes Autorama stunt, objects to Confederate flag
Wed, Feb 20 2019Detroit's Autorama hot rod show will stage its 67th annual event next month, and wants to kick off with Burt Reynolds tribute. The plan is to re-create the Mulberry Bridge jump from " Smokey and the Bandit" using a movie-correct 1977 Pontiac Trans Am. But the Detroit City Council voted 7-1 to prohibit the jump. Why? Because the Trans Am's front license plate holder displays the former Georgia state flag, a portion of which is the Confederate national flag, and the city council doesn't like that. In the movie, Bo "Bandit" Darville was a Georgia driving legend, and the flag on the car was Georgia's flag at the time. Councilman Scott Benson laid out the council's position when he said that the car "still proudly flies a Confederate flag, which is a symbol of oppression, slavery, as well as home-bred American terrorism. So this body said we are not going to support that type of symbolism nor the audacity to support that type of activity in the city of Detroit." It seems part of the council's ire comes from the same event two years ago. A stunt group called the Northeast Ohio Dukes re-created a "Dukes of Hazzard" jump in 2017 using a series-correct 1969 Dodge Charger, complete with a Confederate flag on the roof. Benson said the stunt group "expressly said they would not display that [Confederate flag] symbol during the jump." Not only was it displayed, but when driver Raymond Kohn gave interviews after the jump, his driving suit featured the Stainless Banner on the collar. Seems the council has been grinding its axe in silence for two years. Now Benson accuses Autorama of "a history of supporting images and symbols of racism, oppression, and white supremacy." Autorama is certain to take place March 1-3 at Cobo Center. This year's show will have around 800 cars on display, along with a special exhibit of 17 low riders and a Batmobile built by Flint native Carl Casper. Even if the Bandit car doesn't make the jump, the Trans Am and other memorabilia from the film will be there. A spokeswoman for Autorama said, "We are continuing to work to try to resolve this with the city." 2008-2009 Pontiac G8 recalled over airbag concern
Mon, 07 Nov 2011General Motors is recalling around 38,000 Pontiac G8 sedans from its 2008 and 2009 model years. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that the cars may have a passenger-side airbag flaw that might prevent proper deployment in certain scenarios.
According to NHTSA, the airbag might not adequately protect a fifth percentile woman - that is, a woman around four-foot, 11-inches weighing 108 pounds. The New York Times indicates that the anomaly was found during a crash test conducted by GM's Australian branch, Holden, which was testing the G8's twin (read: Commodore) for head injuries. According to that report, the test in question is specifically tailored to simulate injuries to females, so the results do not apply to men or children.
The issue has been blamed on a seat position sensor that governs airbag deployment rates. NHTSA indicates that when the front passenger seat is moved all the way forward, the faulty sensor may inappropriately trigger a 30-millisecond delay between airbag stages, potentially leading to greater injuries.
GM isn't liable for punitive damages in ignition switch cases
Wed, Nov 20 2019NEW YORK — A federal appeals court said General Motors is not liable for punitive damages over accidents that occurred after its 2009 bankruptcy and involved vehicles it produced earlier, including vehicles with faulty ignition switches. The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan said on Tuesday that the automaker did not agree to contractually assume liability for punitive damages as part of its federally-backed Chapter 11 reorganization. GM filed for bankruptcy in June 2009, and its best assets were transferred to a new Detroit-based company with the same name. The other assets and many liabilities stayed with "Old GM," which is also known as Motors Liquidation Co. Tuesday's 3-0 decision may help GM reduce its ultimate exposure in nationwide litigation over defective ignition switches in several Chevrolet, Pontiac and Saturn models. It is also a defeat for drivers involved in post-bankruptcy accidents, including those who collided with older GM vehicles driven by others, as well as their law firms. The ignition switch defect could cause engine stalls and keep airbags from deploying, and has been linked to 124 deaths. A lawyer for the drivers and their law firms did not immediately respond to requests for comment. GM had no comment. Circuit Judge Dennis Jacobs said GM's agreement to acquire assets "free and clear" of most liabilities excused it from punitive damages claims for Old GM's conduct. He also noted that the judge who oversaw the bankruptcy concluded that the new company could not be liable for claims that the "deeply insolvent" Old GM would never have paid. The decision upheld a May 2018 ruling by U.S. District Judge Jesse Furman in Manhattan, who oversees the ignition switch litigation. Drivers have sought a variety of damages in that litigation, including for declining resale values. GM has recalled more than 2.6 million vehicles since 2014 over ignition switch problems. It has also paid more than $2.6 billion in related penalties and settlements, including $900 million to settle a U.S. Department of Justice criminal case.
