Lucerne Blue, Factory 4 Speed, Rare Cassette Player, Reasonable Reserve on 2040-cars

Year:1971 Mileage:99999
Location:

Stoughton, Wisconsin, United States

Stoughton, Wisconsin, United States

You are bidding on a real deal 1971 Pontiac Trans Am. This is a factory Lucerne Blue car and a factory 4 speed. It is well-optioned, including the very rare factory cassette player (not the 8 track). It is PHS documented and has a clear title. Great project car.

It left the factory with the following options:

-AM radio

-front console

-tilt steering

-rear floor mats

-heavy duty battery

-cassette tape player

-custom seat belts

-front floor mats

-Soft Ray glass (all)

-custom interior

Overall, it is quite solid for it's age. It appears to have all of it's original body panels, including the fenders, hood, doors, rear quarters, floors, etc. The frame rails are solid, except for one small hole on the driver's side. The rear body panel is solid as well, but is dented in. It will need some rust repair. There are a few small areas in the floors that need patches, the center of the trunk pan, a small amount in the rear 1/4s, etc. See pics.  I have many more pics available here (click on the link below):

Currently it has a 1974 Pontiac 400 short block with 6X heads, a TH400 auto trans and a 12 bolt rearend. It is NOT running or driving and will need to be trailered when picked up. Yes, someone did add the T-top cutouts in the roof at some time in the past, but a good body man should be able to replace the roof. I don't think it will need the quarters replaced, just patched.

You are bidding on everything shown in the pictures, but I do have other parts available at extra cost to the winning bidder. These are parts that I have collected  for this project (but were not included with it when I bought it). Some of these are:

#197 round port heads, an intake crossover with heat shields,  a '71 3.42 posi rearend, a factory air cleaner and functional shaker, a set of KR Rally II wheels, a blue '71 dash pad, a brand new trunk pan, a new rear body panel, a pair of tail light lenses and a rear bumper core. Maybe a few other things...  Again, these are NOT included with this auction, but are available to the winning bidder.

I will require a $500 deposit within 48 hours of auction end. This can be paid via PayPal. The balance will be due in cash or bank wire transfer within 4 days of auction end. Do not bid unless you can and will follow through.

STUDY: Ford owns brand loyalty in 2009; Scorned Saturn, Pontiac buyers will look outside of GM

Fri, 16 Oct 2009

Ford buyers appear to love their cars more than customers of any other automotive brand, returning back to the American automaker when it comes time to purchase their next vehicle. According to a study by Experian Automotive, six of the top 10 vehicles for customer brand loyalty wear badges from the Blue Oval. That includes the Ford Fusion (62.4 percent), Ford Edge (57.9 percent), Ford Five Hundred/Taurus (56 percent), Ford Freestyle (51.9 percent), Ford Escape (49.4 percent) and the Ford Focus (47.57 percent).
Other vehicles making up the top 10 include the Toyota Prius (52 percent), Chevy Impala (51.7 percent), Toyota Camry (47.8 percent) and Toyota Corolla (47.56 percent). This brings up an interesting question: With the closing of automotive brands like Saturn and Pontiac, where are those buyers to turn for their next automotive purchase?
Apparently, not back to General Motors. According to Experian, Pontiac owners are most likely to look to the Ford lineup for their next car or truck and Saturn shoppers will switch to Toyota or Honda - not particularly surprising given that Saturn was meant to compete with import brands. Experian predicts that GM's overall market share will fall from 20 percent to about 17.5 percent, with most of the slack being picked up by Ford, Honda and Toyota.

Wanted: 1967 Pontiac GTO for a special Father's Day

Thu, 07 Jun 2012

Jim Sharp of Elkhorn, Wisconsin needs a red 1967 Pontiac GTO to make his dad's Father's Day, possibly his last one, something extra special.
Back in the '60s, Jim's dad, Ken, drove a cherry red 1967 GTO to California for a job. He met a girl, got married and decided his wife's 1965 Ford Mustang was more fuel efficient than the Goat and the GTO was sold. As the story almost always goes, Ken has had seller's regret ever since.
Jim always meant to find a 1967 GTO and, with his dad's help, restore it. But life got in the way, time slipped by and Ken was recently diagnosed with esophageal cancer and given about three months to live.

Tony Stewart to star in Smoke Is The Bandit web series

Mon, 10 Mar 2014

NASCAR driver Tony Stewart is making good use of his nickname Smoke in new videos inspired by the 1970s classic Smokey and the Bandit. The original is one of the quintessential automotive movies of its era with a fantastic combination of slapstick comedy and great car stunts in a Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. If you've never seen it, check it out immediately.
In the new six-part Smoke IS the Bandit web series, Stewart takes on the role of Burt Reynolds' famous character complete with huge mustache. But instead of trying to smuggle cases of Coors beer it's Mobil 1 oil. The series promises to recreate many of the famous scenes from the movie and includes cameos from other NASCAR drivers.
To complete the look, future videos just need a quality replacement for a young Sally Field to ride shotgun. It would also be really cool if Reynolds could make a brief appearance at some point. Scroll down to check out the trailer and the first episode in the series.
