1989 Pontiac Turbo Trans Am Tta on 2040-cars
Peoria, Arizona, United States
Up for Auction is a 1989 Turbo Trans Am (TTA).
This car has been in my family for over 10 years, and is a low mileage, garage kept car. It was purchased from a car collector in Scottsdale, and has spent a large portion of its life in Arizona. Very clean survivor with low mileage. I have added many detailed pics, but if there is something else that you want to see please let me know. This car is basically stock other than: -Blue top injectors -Thrasher chip -Walbro pump with hot-wire kit -Stock replacement Exhaust -Hard MAF pipe -A-Piller gauges with boost and oil pressure. Oil pressure gauge is not hooked up. These cars have a factory oil pressure gauge that works fine, so this was never completely installed. -Adjustable fuel pressure regulator -Metco Drive shaft loop -All RJC billet engine pulleys (cranks, water pump and power steering) We still have the stock exhaust tips if you want these with the car. Exterior Over all the body is very straight and in great condition. The car does have a small door ding on the passenger side, as well as a small ding on the hood. There are some scuffs on the front nose of the car (bottom). The spoiler is in good condition (no cracks or splitting which is very common on these cars). The spoiler does have some checking on the paint that can be seen in the sun, and feels rough. I have included pictures of all these things to show as much detail as possible. Power antenna does not work properly and is in the up position. Car does have glass t-tops, and are in great condition. We do have the original Lexan tops as well, that will go with the car if the owner wants. We also have the side decals, and stock air box as well (I believe the stock air box is missing a hose). Interior Over all great condition. The drivers seat bolster does show some signs of wear. All gauges, accessories and radio works. As mentioned above the car has a boost and oil pressure gauge installed on the A-piller, the oil pressure gauge is not hooked up. These is a crease, mark on the drivers side door panel (I have added a picture to see this). We have never had the door panel off the car since we have owned it. TERMS OF SALE: The car is also listed locally. We reserve the right to end this listing at any time should the vehicle become unavailable. TERMS OF DEPOSIT: The successful high bidder will submit a $1000 non-refundable deposit within 48 hours of the auction closing to secure the vehicle. Buyer agrees to pay the remaining balance due within 5 days of the auction closing. All financial transactions must be completed before delivery of the vehicle. Payment is accepted in U.S. dollars only. PAYMENT METHODS: Bank financing, cash in person, certified check, cashier’s check, and bank wire transfers. Any questions please contact us, we want to make sure this is the car you are looking for! Thx! |

GM knew about fatal Chevy ignition problem decade before recall
Fri, 21 Feb 2014Well, this is not good for General Motors. Following a report last week that GM was recalling 778,000 Chevrolet Cobalt and Pontiac G5 compacts over concerns that the ignition could switch out of the "run" position without warning, USA Today reports that the Detroit-based behemoth knew about the issue, which affected 2005 to 2007 Cobalts (the Cobalt shown above and in the gallery is from 2010) and 2007 Pontiac G5s, all the way back in 2004.
The information comes from a deposition in a civil lawsuit against GM, obtained by USA Today, which claims that a GM engineer experienced the issue while the then-new model was undergoing testing. The issue was "solved" when a technical service bulletin was issued in 2005, informing dealers to install a snap-on key cover on the cars of customers who complained about the issue. According to the Cobalt's program engineering manager, Gary Altman, the cover was an "improvement, it was not a fix to the issue."
The case where the depositions were made was from 2010, and involved Brooke Melton, a 29-year-old pediatric nurse in Georgia who was killed on her birthday. At the time, police claimed she was going too fast on a wet, rural road, although it later came out through the black box that her car's ignition had come out of the "run" position at least three seconds before the accident (the max amount of time a black box records before a wreck), disabling her airbags, power steering and anti-lock brakes. According to USA Today, police said Melton was "traveling too fast for the roadway conditions," although it's impossible to know if she'd have been in the wreck, which injured the occupants of another vehicle, had her 2005 Chevy not shut off. GM settled the Melton family's case, although the details remain confidential.
GM repairing 40,500 Pontiac Vibes as part of Toyota airbag recall
Wed, 09 Apr 2014General Motors has confirmed to Autoblog that the Pontiac Vibe is included in Toyota's just-announced recall action. The Vibe and the Toyota Matrix share a large number of parts, including the affected cable to the airbag.
"About 40,500 Pontiac Vibes from the 2009-2010 model years are included in the Toyota recall. Toyota designed and engineered the Vibe for Pontiac. GM will service customers with these vehicles when Toyota makes the parts available," said GM recall spokesperson Alan Adler to Autoblog in an email.
The recall covers 1.3 million Toyota units in the US, including 2009-2010 Corolla, Matrix and Tacoma, the 2008-2010 Highlander, the 2006-2008 Rav4 and 2006-2010 Yaris, plus the addition of the 2009-2010 Vibe. The models all have their airbag module attached via a spiral electrical cable. The connections on this cable can be damaged when turning the steering wheel. Once broken, the airbag deactivates and the airbag warning light comes on. Toyota has an improved part, but it's still making preparations to begin repairs. It will begin notifying owners soon.
NHTSA investigating 550k Pontiac G6 models, 320k Honda Odysseys
Mon, 10 Jun 2013According to two separate reports in The Detroit News, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is launching investigations into 550,000 Pontiac G6 (pictured above) and 320,000 Honda Odyssey (pictured right) models. The G6 models are all from the 2005 to 2007 model years, while the Odyssey minivans are from the 2003 and 2004 model years. The two NHTSA probes are not related.
In the case of the G6, this is an upgrade to an original investigation that started in February after NHTSA received "hundreds of reports" that the brake lights on these cars may malfunction. According to The Detroit News, the lights may come on when the brake pedal is not depressed, and likewise, the brake lights may not illuminate when the pedal has been pushed. General Motors was able to provide NHTSA with a significant number of warranty claims, including 1,100 reports that could potentially relate to this problem, one of which indicates a vehicle crash.
For Honda, the NHTSA probe concerns airbags that may deploy unexpectedly. The government agency received six complaints from 2003-04 Odyssey owners saying that the front airbags suddenly went off without a crash. The Detroit News reports that three of the six owners sustained injuries from these incidents. Additionally, NHTSA has received 41 complaints from owners saying the vehicle's airbag warning light had illuminated.
