1979 Trans Am-10th Anniversary Edition-This is a true survivor car with 40952 original miles!!!!!It has the 403 and its the automatic. It has T-tops,power windows, power locks,it has all the goodies that the anniversary edition comes with. It has not been on the road since 2004. It is a 2 owner car. The woman I got the car from bought the car in 1985-and it had 32,000 miles on it when she bought it in 85. It has been garage kept its whole life. She said the only things that were ever changed on the car were the tires, brakes and she put a casstte player and eq in it--She unfortunately tossed the original 8 track. But other that that the car is all original with no paint work or motor mods. The car runs and drives pretty good considering it hasnt been out in 10 years. It has the old gas in it and could use plugs and wires but it runs good. The interior on the car is good except the driver seat is dried out and cracked as you can see in the pics. The other seats are very good. It has the original shag style carpet that came from the factory. No rips or holes. Just needs a cleaning. The back package tray has not been cut up. All the gauges work, even the clock and lighter. The power windows are a little slow and the passenger window gets stuck sometimes, has to be the switch. also the driver side seat belt cover is broken. The t-tops do not leak. I took the car and washed it when I got it and there was no water from the tops. Under the hood is dirty but all original-The AC compressor still works too. The car has all the books and manuals and has the original t-top covers. The body on the car I would say in is very very good condition and actually the pics dont do it justice, the paint still shines and with a good buff or wax Im sure it would look great but it still has a alot of shine to it the way it sits . It has 2 tiny rust dots and a scratch on the bottom of the driver door. She told me she hit the car with her lawnmower in the garage over the years at some point. It has 100% original paint. the driver side fender paint is coming off on the top-I took the pic. and the passenger side fender has a tiny dent in it where a ladder fell on it in the garage. It also has a couple of ping dentsand a few chips in the paint here and there They are very tiny and dont even show in the pics, all in all the paint is still really really good on the car.. It appears the car was z-barted or something as it has a factory undercoating that has wore off over the years but Im assuming it helped save this car. It has a slight exhaust leak. I believe it still has most of the original exhaust components. All the original smog stuff is on the car. Nothing has been removed. The trunk is in excellent shape as are the floor boards. Even the trunk light works. It has the original spare and jack. All and all a very good survivor car but could use a resto. I didnt want to paint it or do anything to it as its only original once. I figured I would leave it up to the new owner. This woman took very good car of the car and only put 8,000 miles on it since 1985!!!!!! It needs a restoration or keep it as a survivor car-your choice--These cars are hard to find and are going up in price fast-At least the Anniversary Editions are. Thats the T/A to have!-It has all the original books and manuals. Please feel free to ask questions or if you would like additional photos please feel free to ask. I encourage you to come see the car before bidding. It is located in Elmira NY 14905. I tried to describe the car as best I can. It is a true 40,000 mile 2 owne car-Could use a resto or drive it as it sits. I am listing it at no reserve. But I do reserve the right to end the auction as it is for sale locally so until I get a bid I reserve the right to end the auction. High bidder gets the car--

Looking back at Oprah's free-car giveaway 10 years later

Fri, 12 Sep 2014

Oprah kicked off her 19th season in dramatic fashion by giving all 276 members of the studio audience a free car.
Molly Vielweber's Pontiac G6 appears unremarkable at first glance. It wears forest green paint, rolls on five-spoke aluminum wheels, and it has a sizeable scrape in the driver's side door, the scar of a decade's worth of hard use. You wouldn't notice it parked at a big box store or cruising on the highway. Pontiac made hundreds of thousands of G6s in the 2000s, and a lot are still on the road. It's unremarkable in every way except for the front license plate, which reads, "Oprah 6."

This 1927 Oakland is a minimalist hot rod

Fri, 21 Feb 2014

There are hundreds of American automakers that sprung up during the dawn of the automotive era, only to fold into obscurity or get gobbled up by what would eventually become the Big Four (yes, we're counting AMC here). Oakland is one such company, which was the forbearer for General Motors' Pontiac division. Sold until 1931, you simply don't see Oakland-badged cars anymore. Unless, that is, you know Brian Bent.
Bent drives a 1927 Oakland that still rides on wooden wheels. Its original wooden wheels, from the sound of it. That makes this anachronist and his Oakland the perfect subject for a Petrolicious video. Like many of the cars highlighted by Petrolicious, this old Oakland has had some work done to it, featuring a Pontiac flathead engine that's been pushed forward and a clutch pack built by Bent.
Take a look below for a closer look at this rare and fascinating Oakland.

2008-2009 Pontiac G8 recalled over airbag concern

Mon, 07 Nov 2011

General Motors is recalling around 38,000 Pontiac G8 sedans from its 2008 and 2009 model years. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that the cars may have a passenger-side airbag flaw that might prevent proper deployment in certain scenarios.
According to NHTSA, the airbag might not adequately protect a fifth percentile woman - that is, a woman around four-foot, 11-inches weighing 108 pounds. The New York Times indicates that the anomaly was found during a crash test conducted by GM's Australian branch, Holden, which was testing the G8's twin (read: Commodore) for head injuries. According to that report, the test in question is specifically tailored to simulate injuries to females, so the results do not apply to men or children.
The issue has been blamed on a seat position sensor that governs airbag deployment rates. NHTSA indicates that when the front passenger seat is moved all the way forward, the faulty sensor may inappropriately trigger a 30-millisecond delay between airbag stages, potentially leading to greater injuries.
