This is a NO RESERVE auction for a 6.6 liter 1979 Pontiac Trans Am.

This trans am was donated to our organization, Step 13 b/c we have a charity car donation program. As a result I don't have a lot of history with it but our mechanic has gone thru it and here's what we know:
It runs and drives. Actually, it shifts, runs and stops very well.
Shows 9k on odo. Don't know if its 109 or ???
Auto.
V8.
Has an Edelbrock aftermarket intake and valve covers
KNN air filter
Accel spark plug wires and distributor caps
Rear traction bars.
New dual exhaust
Sony sound system with 10 inch woofers
Tires are national XT Renegade 245/60/15 on rears. didn't check fronts but they all look decent.
Front seats are covered. one loooks okay. one split. see pics.
Windshield has a vertical crack about 4 inches from driver's side frame. does not impede driver.
Air Condu does not work.
Owner too koff edelbrock carb and put on a stock one. As a result you have to pump the peddle alot and give it alot of gas for it to start, meaning it hesitates a bit when it starts.
Have no idea if it was ever raced.
Has a very little rust on passenger side underneath. see pic
There's been some paintowrk.  Look at pics. Car is white. paintwork is beige.
It might need rear shocks.
Let me stress... this is all I know.  So if you think you want to call and chat about it think again b/c i really know nothing else.  We are 100% on sales satisfaction. I try not to oversell our donated cars but you are buying it 'as is' without history.

We have a dealers license. As a result, we will need to do all the dealer paperwork with you. We will need to collect state and rtd taxes if you live in Metro Denver  to the tune of 4%. And you will be required to show proof of insurance on this Trans Am.   If you live out of state we still need to do all the required dealer paperwork with you.
It is for sale locally as well.  No set price. just taking bids. Thanks for reading all this and considering it for purchase.

GM doing fine at retaining Pontiac owners

Fri, 28 Oct 2011

This isn't the first time we've reported positive news about General Motors retaining former Pontiac owners. Get a few more stories like this latest report from Edmund's Auto Observer, and it will mark an ongoing positive trend for GM. Edmunds.com crunched the numbers to see how well the General is hanging on to customers after shutting out the lights at Pontiac, and it found that nearly 40 percent of Pontiac owners stayed with a vehicle from a General Motors brand.
The numbers are a little lower than an earlier R.L. Polk & Company study, but Edmunds says General Motors is keeping more former Pontiac buyers than it has since 2007. Most are turning to vehicles from Chevrolet, especially during January and February of 2011, when GM incentivized Pontiac owners to stay under the umbrella. Those moves seem to have worked, and 28.1 percent of Pontiac owners trading up made the jump into a Bowtie.
Buyers that have gone elsewhere have largely stayed loyal to Domestic automakers, with Ford picking up the most conquests from Pontiac, with 9.4 percent switching. Toyota and Honda picked up 7.4 percent of the pool of former Pontiac drivers. The numbers are defying any predictions that Pontiac buyers would completely exit the General Motors fold, and have climbed up closer to parity with the retention figures of other GM brands from a 2009 low of only 16 percent retention.

GM recalling another 2.7 million vehicles in five separate campaigns

Thu, 15 May 2014

The recalls keep rolling in from General Motors, evidently keen to avoid repeating the mistakes of the ignition-switch debacle and clean house. This time they're all coming at once, with five separate recalls announced together covering approximately 2.7 million vehicles.
The largest of the five actions involves over 2.4 million units of the previous-generation Chevrolet Malibu and Malibu Maxx, Pontiac G6 and Saturn Aura in order to fix brake light wiring harness, which have been found to be susceptible to corrosion. The recall is separate from the 56k Aura sedans which GM recently recalled over faulty shift cables, not to mention the previous massive recall of 1.3 million vehicles - some of them the same models - but appears to have resulted from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigation that started with the G6 almost a year ago.
The second-largest campaign involves the 2014 Chevy Malibu, specifically those fitted with GM's 2.5-liter engine and stop/start system, approximately 140,000 examples of which has been found to have problematic brakes. The issue does not appear to be connected to the recall of 8k Malibu and Buick LaCrosse sedans (also involving brake woes) which we reported upon last week. Four crashes have been reported in such models, but GM admits it's not yet clear if the problem was a contributing factor in the accidents.

Trans Am Depot teases 2014 GTO

Mon, 24 Jun 2013

Here comes the Judge. Court is in session. The verdict is in. How many more tired clichés can we come up with? It hardly seems to matter, because it's happening: Trans Am Depot has announced via the teaser video below that it is launching a 2014 GTO, complete with Carousel Red (bright orange, really) paint and full Judge badging.
The car is based on Trans Am Depot's 6T9 Goat, which, in case you don't get the reverential references, is meant to mimic the look of the 1969 Pontiac GTO. As with the company's other cars -including the 2013 Hurst Edition Trans Am we recently drove - the GTO will be based on the current Chevy Camaro, which means two doors, V8 engines and rear-wheel drive, just like the muscle cars of days past.
As for actual details of what's under the 2014 GTO's hood, we're completely left hanging. We'd expect some sort of power adder (turbo, supercharger or possibly some other form of a highly massaged version of the Camaro's V8), and we certainly know that GM has any number of hi-po crate engines to choose from.
