This is my 1979 Trans Am that I have owned for 3 years. I hate to sell but I have obligations that are forcing me to do so. I bought this car on Ebay 3 years ago and it was misrepresented as an all original 23000 mile car. That was not true and the buyer left out every thing wrong with this car out of the description. He ended up giving me $500 back to me to keep me from calling him about everything I found wrong with it. I could not get it off the trailer when it arrived because it would not run long enough to get it off. needless to say I got frustrated at how people take advantage of others with their dishonesty so i am going to describe every problem I know with this car. Let me begin with the positives. This is a very nice 79 Trans Am. The paint is very, very good. It has a small scratch in the front driver corner where I hit my shop heater and there is a picture of that. There are a few little nicks and light scratches but you have to hunt for them. The decals are pretty good but a little loose in some of the letter corners( a little glue will fix). This car looks like it has gone through a complete restoration inside and out and looks the part. I entered it into 1 car show and got Top 100 trophy with 256 cars entered and I included a picture of the trophy. It was a very big and quality car show in Southern Kentucky so it will attest to the looks of this car. When i got the car the first thing I did was made it road worthy and safe. I replaced the carburetor with a rebuilt numbers matching carb, replaced the master cylinder and all of the calipers. I had a new exhaust run with Flomaster knockoffs and it resonates and sounds great. We pulled the tranny pan to check it out and threw in a B & M trans pak while we were there, replaced the shifter grommet but the tail shaft has a leaking seal. I installed new KYB shocks all the way around. The car was undercoated all underneath it and the gas tank too. The hood cable was broken so I put a new one on and mounted it correctly. The motor was clean and detailed when I got it and had #7 cylinder heads from a 350 Oldsmobile on it so someone knew what they were doing but it does have a little lifter pecking but does not smoke a drop. It drives very good, especially on the interstate and actually gets pretty good fuel mileage. I get people taking pictures of it going down the road and people will yell at me at stop lights how nice the car is. Now to the issues that need to be completed. Up until the day i took these pictures, the windows worked great, but today the drivers window would not go down. I can here the relay pull in for going up but not down. It may be a relay or the switch. The front signals stopped working but the back ones do. The low beams don't work but the High beams do. The interior lights work but not the dome when the door opens. The dash lights work but the radio is not original and does not function. The power trunk release does not work and the auto door locks don't work. The interior seat covers and door panels look to have been replaced new and the interior pieces dyed to the right colors, The carpet was replaced but not with the correct shag carpet that was OEM for the 10th anniversary. The air conditioner does not work. I have the PHS documentation for this car and it will be included. The dash has 1 crack on the top. The tachometer acts a little wiggy. Overall this is a very nice T/A that will turn heads all day long and with a little time and the right person all the little problems can be fixed rather cheaply. I have 2 kids that prevent me from having the time to take care of these issues. The T-tops are in good shape and are the correct mirrored tops with storage bags in the trunk. The door seals look to be new also. E-mail me with any questions and I will be glad to answer with the best of my knowledge. I have set the reserve well below what I have invested in this car, but I have to liquidate all of my unnecessary toys to get a down payment for a house. I also hate the dishonest people who sell cars on ebay so i try to describe the car honestly.  I have 100% feedback and plan on keeping it that way. Good luck bidding.

Pontiac Firebird in latest Generation Gap scrap

Tue, 30 Sep 2014

Generation Gap is mining the Lingenfelter collection again this week to compare two very different interpretations of the Pontiac Firebird. An original 1968 example goes toe-to-toe with a 2010 Lingenfelter Trans Am to see whether the old man or the modern re-imagining takes the crown.
Being from the Lingenfelter collection, both cars are absolutely immaculate. The '68 packs a Pontiac 350-cubic-inch (5.7-liter) V8 with a claimed 320 horsepower and some classic, muscular style with a hood-mounted tach. Plus, it's painted in an understated shade of green that you don't usually see.
In the other corner is Lingenfelter's pumped-up take on the classic shape based on the modern Camaro, and this is just one of six concept versions ever made. It wears an eye-catching, vintage-inspired livery of blue with a white stripe package. Under its shaker hood is a 455-cubic-inch (7.5-liter) V8 with a reported 655 hp and 610 pound-feet of torque.

NHTSA investigating 550k Pontiac G6 models, 320k Honda Odysseys

Mon, 10 Jun 2013

According to two separate reports in The Detroit News, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is launching investigations into 550,000 Pontiac G6 (pictured above) and 320,000 Honda Odyssey (pictured right) models. The G6 models are all from the 2005 to 2007 model years, while the Odyssey minivans are from the 2003 and 2004 model years. The two NHTSA probes are not related.
In the case of the G6, this is an upgrade to an original investigation that started in February after NHTSA received "hundreds of reports" that the brake lights on these cars may malfunction. According to The Detroit News, the lights may come on when the brake pedal is not depressed, and likewise, the brake lights may not illuminate when the pedal has been pushed. General Motors was able to provide NHTSA with a significant number of warranty claims, including 1,100 reports that could potentially relate to this problem, one of which indicates a vehicle crash.
For Honda, the NHTSA probe concerns airbags that may deploy unexpectedly. The government agency received six complaints from 2003-04 Odyssey owners saying that the front airbags suddenly went off without a crash. The Detroit News reports that three of the six owners sustained injuries from these incidents. Additionally, NHTSA has received 41 complaints from owners saying the vehicle's airbag warning light had illuminated.

Howard Stern latest in Seinfeld's passenger seat for CiCGC

Thu, 06 Feb 2014

We'll be honest: the actual cars in Jerry Seinfeld's hit internet series, Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee, typically take a back seat to the celebrities in the front row. Seinfeld usually throws in a few lines about his classic wheels in the first minute or so, and then moves on to the important business of sprightly conversation and pithy one-liners. It's great.
This time around, with legendary motormouth Howard Stern riding shotgun, the 1969 Pontiac GTO Judge that might have been a co-star, gets forgotten about almost completely. Instead, Stern spends a tremendous amount of screen time extolling the virtues of his therapy sessions, attempts to dive into Seinfeld's prowess as a lover and generally makes a nuisance of himself. Pretty much to plan, then.
Scroll below to hear Howard accuse Jerry of acting like Jesus, just before declaring himself the greatest radio personality in the history of the business.
