This project started as a chesterfield brown 403 A/T trans am. When I got it, It had no motor but everything else was basically there.

First, the car was completely disassembled and then media blasted down to bare metal. All the floor and undercarriage was painted with POR15.
All bodywork was done and then it was primered twice. Then it was blocked down and painted a dark metallic jade (green).
I used a base/clear system and then wetsanded and polished the paint. It's not perfect but is a nice paint job.
That's the body portion. Good amount of money in the paintjob.

I put all new bushings, shocks, ball joints throughout including rear end pads, shackle bushings, control arm bushings, upper and lower ball joints, etc.
It has brand new monroe shocks, front 2" drop spindles and eibach lowering springs up front. It also has brand new brakes and brake lines all around.
New rotors, pads, calipers, etc. P.S. it has power steering but manual brakes. It's all set up to put power brakes but I didnt like the look of a brake booster.
This should make for a nice ride. Theres about 1500 dollars in the suspension

As far as the drivetrain, It has the original 10 bolt posi rear end and a reconditioned driveline. For the motor, I bought a 71 400 engine.
I had it rebuilt in Yuba City, Ca at Clay and Paquette Machine Shop which is known all around the west coast for great engines.
They punched it .030 over and it has flat top pistons with small valve reliefs.
It has 1969 firebird 400 #62 heads that were fully ported and polished. They were gone through and have new valves, springs, etc at the same machine shop.
It has a single plane tomahawk intake manifold with a performer edelbrock carburetor on top. Electric fuel pump from summit and a holley regulator.
Accel breakerless distributor, supercoil, wires, and plugs. Edelbrock elite valve covers. Flowkool waterpump. Very very very good engine.
Its supposed to put out 410 horsepower and 465 foot pounds of torque.
It has new hedman headers 1 7/8 tube to a 3 inch collector connected to 3 inch glasspacks. Very loud.
Behind it is the original Turbo 350 thats been rebuilt and beefed up to withstand 500 horsepower.
The whole thing operates through a hurst vmatic 2 shifter. It also has a new lokar throttle cable. It also has a new fan, fan shroud, power steering pump, and hoses.
It has a brand new aluminum radiator too.
I have about 8000 dollars in the drivetrain.

In the interior, it has a brand new painless wiring harness and dash cap. It has the original gauges. The seats are all there but need to be recovered. All the plastics and trim pieces have been painted black. It needs recovered seats, new headliner, new carpet, new rear deck cover, seat belts, radio, speakers, and sill plates.
It doesn't have a console. This is the only real part that needs to be finished on the car. All the parts are available at multiple places though so it's not a tough fix.
It also has a new steering wheel and flaming river steering column that costed about 900 dollars.

The wheels and tires are not included unless the bid goes high enough or they will be available to the seller for an additional cost.
It comes with a set of American Racing Turbine Wheels.

Feel free to contact me with questions. Good luck and happy bidding.

Lutz says GM was working on 5th-gen Pontiac GTO

Thu, 08 Aug 2013

Bob Lutz was one of the forces behind bringing the Holden Monaro to the United States, as the ill-fated Pontiac GTO in 2004. And while that car received critical acclaim, it was a sales disappointment. Now, Road & Track is reporting that our suspicions were correct - Pontiac was working on a two-door, G8-based coupe before it was shuttered.
In that R&T article, which is no longer available online, Lutz explained that the new GTO would solve many of the issues found in the original. Car Advice speculates that the new model would have look like a rebadged version of the Holden Coupe 60 Concept from 2008, a conclusion we also came to.
That car would have been a big departure from the 2004 to 2006 GTO. It has an extremely long hood and short rear deck, with an almost fastback roofline and a wide greenhouse with a tall beltline. The wheel arches were very pronounced, and the chin and rocker panel splitters gave it a race-ready look. Would it have been enough to make the GTO work in the US? We think it might of, but it looks like we'll never know.

Wanted: 1967 Pontiac GTO for a special Father's Day

Thu, 07 Jun 2012

Jim Sharp of Elkhorn, Wisconsin needs a red 1967 Pontiac GTO to make his dad's Father's Day, possibly his last one, something extra special.
Back in the '60s, Jim's dad, Ken, drove a cherry red 1967 GTO to California for a job. He met a girl, got married and decided his wife's 1965 Ford Mustang was more fuel efficient than the Goat and the GTO was sold. As the story almost always goes, Ken has had seller's regret ever since.
Jim always meant to find a 1967 GTO and, with his dad's help, restore it. But life got in the way, time slipped by and Ken was recently diagnosed with esophageal cancer and given about three months to live.

Looking back at Oprah's free-car giveaway 10 years later

Fri, 12 Sep 2014

Oprah kicked off her 19th season in dramatic fashion by giving all 276 members of the studio audience a free car.
Molly Vielweber's Pontiac G6 appears unremarkable at first glance. It wears forest green paint, rolls on five-spoke aluminum wheels, and it has a sizeable scrape in the driver's side door, the scar of a decade's worth of hard use. You wouldn't notice it parked at a big box store or cruising on the highway. Pontiac made hundreds of thousands of G6s in the 2000s, and a lot are still on the road. It's unremarkable in every way except for the front license plate, which reads, "Oprah 6."
