Saint Charles, Missouri, United States

2 owner car which I purchased from a local dealership in the summer of 1979 after I graduated high school and the car was less than a year old and like new. The car originally was a Solar Gold Limited Edition model, I rebuilt the engine in 1984 the block was bored .30 over with forged pistons a crane cam, Edelbrock Perfomer aluminum intake with a Holley Street Avenger carburetor, the Turbo 350 automatic trans has a B&M Transpack and 2500 stall speed converter newly rebuilt with less than 300 miles, 10 bolt positraction rear diff with 3.73 gears, new Flowtec aluminum headers , new exhaust with Flowmaster Super 40's, new power steering pump, hoses and gear box, new ft brake calipers, new chrome alternator and valve covers, new suspension bushings, ball joints and shocks, the BF Goodrich Radial T/.A's have low mileage. The interior is new right down to the steering wheel and carpet, the only improvement would be to replace the dash and front seat belts.
I customized the body by molding in the flares to the fenders and quarters, added window etching and changed the color to a midnight blue metallic paint from BASF in 2011 this car runs great and handles like new, its going to be very hard for me  but I feel its time to let go, it seems ashamed to let it just sit in the garage, I only drive it  to car shows in the fall and put less than 100 miles on it a year. the car is not flawless, but  is extremely nice with a mirror finish!

Tony Stewart to star in Smoke Is The Bandit web series

Mon, 10 Mar 2014

NASCAR driver Tony Stewart is making good use of his nickname Smoke in new videos inspired by the 1970s classic Smokey and the Bandit. The original is one of the quintessential automotive movies of its era with a fantastic combination of slapstick comedy and great car stunts in a Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. If you've never seen it, check it out immediately.
In the new six-part Smoke IS the Bandit web series, Stewart takes on the role of Burt Reynolds' famous character complete with huge mustache. But instead of trying to smuggle cases of Coors beer it's Mobil 1 oil. The series promises to recreate many of the famous scenes from the movie and includes cameos from other NASCAR drivers.
To complete the look, future videos just need a quality replacement for a young Sally Field to ride shotgun. It would also be really cool if Reynolds could make a brief appearance at some point. Scroll down to check out the trailer and the first episode in the series.

1939 Pontiac Ghost Car commands $308,000 at auction

Mon, 01 Aug 2011

For the 1939 World's Fair, Pontiac built a Deluxe Six bodied in Plexiglass. Part of the Previews of Progress pavilion in which General Motors' Futurama showed off what was to come in the world of autos, the 'invisible' Pontiac is credited as the first transparent car in America. And there were no shortcuts taken with its body: the Plexiglass form was fabricated by the company that brought the material to market in 1933, Rohm & Haas.
The see-through sedan was sold at RM Auctions' St. John's auction in Michigan on July 30, fetching $308,000. Not bad appreciation for a domestic oddity that cost $25,000 to build when new. You can check out the high-res gallery of its innards, including copper and chrome metalwork and white moldings and wheels, and get the exhaustive details on it after the jump.
