1977 Pontiac Trans Am SE
(Bandit Edition)
Very rare optioned car!!
Up for auction is my 1977 Trans Am. This car is in amazing shape. The car is all original except for the following: Paint and windshield. That is it. I am the third owner of this car. The original owner purchased it new when she was 56 yrs old. She then sold it 29 yrs later to the individual I purchased it from, whom only owned it about 6 months. The car is very wildly optioned along with the very, very rare N67 wheel option. This option was for gold rally wheels instead of the standard snowflake wheels. As you can see, I purchased a set of redone snowflakes for it as I like the look. They go with the car as well. The exterior of the car was repainted at a Chevrolet dealer locally. It does have minor flaws, but you have to be close to see them. This car also has the factory Hurst T-tops which were only on the cars in the first 6 months of the new 77 bodystyle. It also has the original t-top bag with them. The original owner had the windshield replaced so she could have a radio put in. This car came as a radio delete. I have a factory original radio and 8-track player to go with the car and the wiring harness. Everything on the car works and functions great except for the temp gauge and the clock works, but doesn't keep time well. The interior is amazing and original. No rips, tears or significant wear any place. It has the standard interior with the gold steering wheel and dash. It has AC, which blows cold, CC that works, the full SE package with posi traction and the cigarette lighter. I have the original build sheet and reproduction window sticker. I also have ALL the books that came with the car when purchased. I have the factory GM manual for working on the car. This car was also undercoated by the original owner. The only issue is a small dent the size of a 50 cent piece on the lower rear quarter panel. It is hard to see, but I will show you when you come to inspect it. This car is also signed by the man himself "Burt Reynolds". He was in my home town 2 years ago for and event and I have supporting evidence if you need proof. As I remember more I will put it on here. EVERYTHING that is bad I have listed. No excuses, no backpedalling. This car is definitely a one of a kind. Myself and the previous owner have tried to find ANY existing TA's with the gold rally wheel option and have not found one. This car draws a crowd everywhere it goes and is a great investment! The brakes have been redone with rotors, pads and all the little stuff. I have the originals still if you would like them. Transmission and radiator have both been flushed and the oil changed every year. ( I have only driven the car about 300 mile per year). Send all questions thru email. If you are serious about the car send me a number and I will call you promptly. No tire kickers!! If you would like to see the car before you buy, I am ok with that. I will not be offering joyrides however.
Thanks for looking and happy bidding!!

General Lee takes on Bandit T/A in classic Hollywood car showdown [w/poll]
Fri, 26 Aug 2011You don't have to be born in the 1960s or 1970s to be able to recognize the General Lee from The Dukes of Hazzard and the Pontiac Trans Am from Smokey and the Bandit. These old school four-wheeled stars seem to transcend demographics thanks to the miles of film that show the orange 1969 Dodge Charger and the jet-black 1977 Pontiac Trans Am performing seemingly impossible stunts.
The folks at Hot Rod magazine are obviously hip to this fact, and they put together a fun video in tribute of the instantly recognizable duo. Hit the jump to watch on as Sam Young and James Smith replace Bo Duke and The Bandit for a bit of dirt-road shenanigans in a pair of otherwise well cared for classics. We're not so sure we'd call it the best chase scene ever, but it sure looks like a lot of fun.
More importantly, which of these two cars would you rather own? Have your say in our poll below.
NHTSA could add 1M cars to GM recall
Wed, 13 Mar 2013
The Detroit Free Press is reporting that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration may expand a recall campaign for faulty brake lamps. The agency is currently looking into complaints that certain 2004-2011 Chevrolet Malibu models as well as some 2007-2009 Saturn Aura sedans may have brake lights that do not illuminate when the driver presses the pedal. Alternatively, the lamps may also illuminate without input from the driver. General Motors recalled 8,000 Pontiac G6 models from the 2005 model year for the same problem, and NHTSA is currently investigating whether to add 550,000 more G6 models built between 2005 and 2009 to the list for the same issue.
In addition, investigators are currently examining 97 complaints from Malibu and Aura owners with the same trouble. If NHTSA adds those models to the recall campaign, more than one million units could be covered. GM, meanwhile, says there have been no accidents or injuries as a result of the problem.
GM knew about fatal Chevy ignition problem decade before recall
Fri, 21 Feb 2014Well, this is not good for General Motors. Following a report last week that GM was recalling 778,000 Chevrolet Cobalt and Pontiac G5 compacts over concerns that the ignition could switch out of the "run" position without warning, USA Today reports that the Detroit-based behemoth knew about the issue, which affected 2005 to 2007 Cobalts (the Cobalt shown above and in the gallery is from 2010) and 2007 Pontiac G5s, all the way back in 2004.
The information comes from a deposition in a civil lawsuit against GM, obtained by USA Today, which claims that a GM engineer experienced the issue while the then-new model was undergoing testing. The issue was "solved" when a technical service bulletin was issued in 2005, informing dealers to install a snap-on key cover on the cars of customers who complained about the issue. According to the Cobalt's program engineering manager, Gary Altman, the cover was an "improvement, it was not a fix to the issue."
The case where the depositions were made was from 2010, and involved Brooke Melton, a 29-year-old pediatric nurse in Georgia who was killed on her birthday. At the time, police claimed she was going too fast on a wet, rural road, although it later came out through the black box that her car's ignition had come out of the "run" position at least three seconds before the accident (the max amount of time a black box records before a wreck), disabling her airbags, power steering and anti-lock brakes. According to USA Today, police said Melton was "traveling too fast for the roadway conditions," although it's impossible to know if she'd have been in the wreck, which injured the occupants of another vehicle, had her 2005 Chevy not shut off. GM settled the Melton family's case, although the details remain confidential.
