1976 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am Project on 2040-cars

US $4,500.00
Year:1976 Mileage:0
Location:

Oak Creek, Wisconsin, United States

Oak Creek, Wisconsin, United States

For Sale is my project 1976 Trans Am. Included is a rusty 76 Trans Am and a nearly rust free 75 Trans Am rolling shell. I have a clear Wisconsin title for the 76. The 75 does not have a title. The 76 is a non air car, 400 with a turbo 350 trans. The motor is a correct motor for the application by casting number and date code, just not the original from the car. Transmission is not correct as the car was originally a four speed car. The car is original silver with black standard interior. The only thing needed for the body as far as sheet metal will be a left front fender and wheel well. Interior is complete but needs seat covers, carpet and dash pad. Headliner, door panels and side plastics are in usable condition. Also included is a set of honey comb rims minus center caps and rings. The Oklahoma car is a original white with red interior and has a/c option. Very clean. It will need the left rear floor pan from a leaking window and the right lower outer quarter appears to have some rust from a build up of junk inside the lower quarter. This is a great start to a rapidly appreciating car. I bought all of this with the plan on building, but realized I do not have the time. Other items missing are, radiator, fan shroud, drive shaft, trans lines, correct carburetor and air cleaner base. There is a lot of money here just in parts.

I have not heard the engine run or drove the car. The 76 was bought from a local guy that disassembled it 8 plus years ago and let it set. The motor is supposed to be rebuilt and from a quick inspection it is very clean internally. I would recommend having it freshened due to it setting for a few years.

This is a basket case project car and there may be more missing than I have mentioned. It will be sold as is and with the assumption there is more needed to restore the car than I have listed here. Trades considered for a 19 foot or larger open bow boat or a 1990-1997 Chevy or GMC 4x4.

Howard Stern latest in Seinfeld's passenger seat for CiCGC

Thu, 06 Feb 2014

We'll be honest: the actual cars in Jerry Seinfeld's hit internet series, Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee, typically take a back seat to the celebrities in the front row. Seinfeld usually throws in a few lines about his classic wheels in the first minute or so, and then moves on to the important business of sprightly conversation and pithy one-liners. It's great.
This time around, with legendary motormouth Howard Stern riding shotgun, the 1969 Pontiac GTO Judge that might have been a co-star, gets forgotten about almost completely. Instead, Stern spends a tremendous amount of screen time extolling the virtues of his therapy sessions, attempts to dive into Seinfeld's prowess as a lover and generally makes a nuisance of himself. Pretty much to plan, then.
Scroll below to hear Howard accuse Jerry of acting like Jesus, just before declaring himself the greatest radio personality in the history of the business.

Watch as Hot Rod goes from El Paso to LA the hard way

Tue, 21 Feb 2012

There are few things simultaneously more romantic and idiotic than taking a road trip in a beaten-down heap of a car. Trust us. We know. David Freiburger and Mike Finnegan of Hot Rod Magazine fame recently undertook an epic trip from El Paso, Texas to Los Angeles with the express goal of doing so for under $1,500, including the purchase price of a vehicle, food, lodging, repairs and, most importantly, fuel. With this in mind, the duo settled on a 1972 Pontiac Catalina for a lofty $650. Hilarity ensues.
Realizing that no one actually wants a Catalina sulking around the shop, Freiburger and Finnegan put the car up for auction on eBay Motors the instant they had the title in hand. By the time they rolled into Hot Rod HQ, the vehicle sold for a little over $500.
The video is part of a new series called Roadkill that should document similar adventures. Keep your eyes peeled for more calamity-soaked clips in the near future. In the meantime, hit the jump to check it out yourself.

2008-2009 Pontiac G8 recalled over airbag concern

Mon, 07 Nov 2011

General Motors is recalling around 38,000 Pontiac G8 sedans from its 2008 and 2009 model years. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that the cars may have a passenger-side airbag flaw that might prevent proper deployment in certain scenarios.
According to NHTSA, the airbag might not adequately protect a fifth percentile woman - that is, a woman around four-foot, 11-inches weighing 108 pounds. The New York Times indicates that the anomaly was found during a crash test conducted by GM's Australian branch, Holden, which was testing the G8's twin (read: Commodore) for head injuries. According to that report, the test in question is specifically tailored to simulate injuries to females, so the results do not apply to men or children.
The issue has been blamed on a seat position sensor that governs airbag deployment rates. NHTSA indicates that when the front passenger seat is moved all the way forward, the faulty sensor may inappropriately trigger a 30-millisecond delay between airbag stages, potentially leading to greater injuries.
