1970 Pontiac Trans Am Ram Air Iii 4 Speed on 2040-cars

Year:1970 Mileage:46310 Color: paint
Location:

Ebensburg, Pennsylvania, United States

Ebensburg, Pennsylvania, United States

I purchased my REAL (not clone) 70 T/A in the spring of 1997. This numbers matching RAM AIR III, 4 speed was originally sold at Sally Pontiac in Johnstown, Pa. which is about 20 miles from our town. The car was stored away and not driven since 1973. The original owner sold the vehicle to someone who was going to restore the vehicle and he tore the car apart; 20 years later it was still in the same boxes. I bought the car and restored the vehicle (rotisserie car restoration) to better than showroom condition. The vehicle has 46,000 original miles and it has not been driven since 1973.  This vehicle is PHS documented (Pontiac Historical Service) with the original invoice and build sheet.

Including :

Original Engine Full Rebuild, New Flywheel, Clutch, pilot/throw out bearings, New front suspension, all new body/suspension bushings, new brakes, brake hoses and hardware, new booster + master cylinder, New stainless steel brake and fuel lines, new interior with headliner, full professional exterior paint, correct refinished JW rally II wheels with 4 new tires, New radiator, original rebuild carb + generator, reconditioned original wire harness,  PHS documentation with correct matching VIN / Body / Door Tags, New GM T/A Decals, 2 new GM OEM complete Door assemblies,  Power coated all chassis black body panels including the 2 wheelhouse, Rad core support, etc., and much more.

We have been a Pontiac (until GM closed Pontiac) and Cadillac dealer for over 55 years, so I remember these muscle cars as new. We sold an identical car as this one new, but could never buy it back. From time to time I will feature another classic Pontiac from our stable.

On Dec-03-13 at 14:55:58 PST, seller added the following information:

Just to be very accurate the engine is the "THIS T/A's GM ORIGINAL ENGINE" 1970 400 Ram Air III correct engine size and code "WS" but the VIN # on the block ends in 86 (we are not disclosing the VIN # on the internet but to anyone who is serious bidder can call us 814-472-9550 ext 302 and get the full Vin # and a copy sent of the PHS documentation) the Vehicle VIN # on the Dash, Door tags, PHS docs ends with 87. The PA title also correctly ends with 87.

With our past contacts at Pontiac we were told it has happens rarely that the engine on the TA (and other) factory assembly lines would get out of sink but it has happened.

i.e. We have the correct WS Ram Air III engine for the car BEFORE our car - off by one on the factory line. This is the GM original 1970 error that was and has been in this exact TA since new. We just have the T/A engine before our T/A on the factory line. Bar Codes and tracking software did not exist on GM lines in 1970.

This Auto Aerobics car art ties our brains in knots like pretzels

Sat, 14 Dec 2013

We like cars, and we like art. Naturally, Chris Labrooy's Auto Aerobics series - computer-generated images of some seriously contorted 1968 Pontiac Bonnevilles floating in mid-air - instantly clicked with us. If the Pontiacs weren't floating or hollow, we could be fooled into believing the image is real. But where's the fun in that?
Check out the gallery we included of Labrooy's Bonneville art, and feel free too head over to his website for some Formula One humor.

Tony Stewart to star in Smoke Is The Bandit web series

Mon, 10 Mar 2014

NASCAR driver Tony Stewart is making good use of his nickname Smoke in new videos inspired by the 1970s classic Smokey and the Bandit. The original is one of the quintessential automotive movies of its era with a fantastic combination of slapstick comedy and great car stunts in a Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. If you've never seen it, check it out immediately.
In the new six-part Smoke IS the Bandit web series, Stewart takes on the role of Burt Reynolds' famous character complete with huge mustache. But instead of trying to smuggle cases of Coors beer it's Mobil 1 oil. The series promises to recreate many of the famous scenes from the movie and includes cameos from other NASCAR drivers.
To complete the look, future videos just need a quality replacement for a young Sally Field to ride shotgun. It would also be really cool if Reynolds could make a brief appearance at some point. Scroll down to check out the trailer and the first episode in the series.

Looking back at Oprah's free-car giveaway 10 years later

Fri, 12 Sep 2014

Oprah kicked off her 19th season in dramatic fashion by giving all 276 members of the studio audience a free car.
Molly Vielweber's Pontiac G6 appears unremarkable at first glance. It wears forest green paint, rolls on five-spoke aluminum wheels, and it has a sizeable scrape in the driver's side door, the scar of a decade's worth of hard use. You wouldn't notice it parked at a big box store or cruising on the highway. Pontiac made hundreds of thousands of G6s in the 2000s, and a lot are still on the road. It's unremarkable in every way except for the front license plate, which reads, "Oprah 6."
