1971 Pontiac Lemans Sport 5.7l Convertible on 2040-cars
Staten Island, New York, United States
Up for auction is a 1971 Pontiac Lemans sport convertible. Everything is numbers matching. Its the real deal. The motor is the original 350 which has been slightly modified, all of which can be reversed to your liking. It has many new parts. It has a high performance tune-up. It has been upgraded to a 4 barrel carburetor, a mild cam, and dual exhaust. The motor runs extremely strong and has a very high compression ratio. The motor has a brand new chrome Edelbrock valve cover kit with caps and gaskets. It also has a new chrome air cleaner. I have put over $3000 worth of work into the vehicle. It has a new radiator, water pump, new brakes all the way around, new brake lines, new fuel pump, new battery. Also a full tune-up. I have PHS (Pontiac Historic Society) papers for the car. The body needs restoration, but is a solid builder that you can restore and at the same time be able to drive with the top down and enjoy and have fun with. I have 2 brand new chrome side mirrors that come with the car. The power convertible top mechanism works very good as well, although it does need a new vinyl top. (If you choose to BUY IT NOW I will throw in a brand new OPG black top). Was originally a Florida car. Please feel free to browse the pictures and take a look for yourself, and see what you think. P.S. Will assist in shipment. Free car cover with the car. *This auctions proceeds will be donated to a family in need that is having financial troubles. So please only serious inquiries and bidders only. Thank you!!! If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at 1347-447-0035. |

GM doing fine at retaining Pontiac owners
Fri, 28 Oct 2011This isn't the first time we've reported positive news about General Motors retaining former Pontiac owners. Get a few more stories like this latest report from Edmund's Auto Observer, and it will mark an ongoing positive trend for GM. Edmunds.com crunched the numbers to see how well the General is hanging on to customers after shutting out the lights at Pontiac, and it found that nearly 40 percent of Pontiac owners stayed with a vehicle from a General Motors brand.
The numbers are a little lower than an earlier R.L. Polk & Company study, but Edmunds says General Motors is keeping more former Pontiac buyers than it has since 2007. Most are turning to vehicles from Chevrolet, especially during January and February of 2011, when GM incentivized Pontiac owners to stay under the umbrella. Those moves seem to have worked, and 28.1 percent of Pontiac owners trading up made the jump into a Bowtie.
Buyers that have gone elsewhere have largely stayed loyal to Domestic automakers, with Ford picking up the most conquests from Pontiac, with 9.4 percent switching. Toyota and Honda picked up 7.4 percent of the pool of former Pontiac drivers. The numbers are defying any predictions that Pontiac buyers would completely exit the General Motors fold, and have climbed up closer to parity with the retention figures of other GM brands from a 2009 low of only 16 percent retention.
Official USPS Muscle Cars stamps coming to a mailbox near you
Thu, 21 Feb 2013As much as our digital lives have cut down on our trips to the post office, there are still times that sending "snail mail" is necessary. With us car lovers in mind and philately in their hearts, the good folks at the United States Postal Service will introduce a new stamp design called "Muscle Cars" starting on February 22.
Designed by artist Tom Fritz, the new collection of stamps consist of five classic muscle cars: 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona, 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS, 1967 Shelby GT-500, 1966 Pontiac GTO and 1970 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda. In addition to just the stamps, the USPS is also commemorating the new series with plenty of collectable memorabilia. Previous car-related stamps include 50s Sporty Cars from 2005 and 50s Fins and Chrome from 2008.
Tony Stewart to star in Smoke Is The Bandit web series
Mon, 10 Mar 2014NASCAR driver Tony Stewart is making good use of his nickname Smoke in new videos inspired by the 1970s classic Smokey and the Bandit. The original is one of the quintessential automotive movies of its era with a fantastic combination of slapstick comedy and great car stunts in a Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. If you've never seen it, check it out immediately.
In the new six-part Smoke IS the Bandit web series, Stewart takes on the role of Burt Reynolds' famous character complete with huge mustache. But instead of trying to smuggle cases of Coors beer it's Mobil 1 oil. The series promises to recreate many of the famous scenes from the movie and includes cameos from other NASCAR drivers.
To complete the look, future videos just need a quality replacement for a young Sally Field to ride shotgun. It would also be really cool if Reynolds could make a brief appearance at some point. Scroll down to check out the trailer and the first episode in the series.
