1979 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX
38K MILES
ONE OWNER NICE!!!!!

THIS IS A WERE NICE CAR RUNS AND DRIVES GREAT. IT WA PURCHASED NEW BY A LOCAL SCHOOL TEACHER AND WAS OWNED BY HER UNTIL SHE QUIT DRIVING AND WENT INTO THE NURSING HOME. IT HAS 39K ORIGINAL MILES AND APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN TAKEN REALLY GOOD CARE OF.
I HAVE DRIVEN THE CAR FOR ABOUT TWO MONTHS WITH NO PROBLEMS, I WOULD FEEL COMFORTABLE DRIVING IT ACROSS THE COUNTRY. THE CAR EVEN HAS THE ORIGINAL FLOOR MATS!

THE CAR IS BABY BLUE WITH BABY BLUE INTERIOR. THE INSIDES ARE REALLY NICE. THERE ARE 2 CRACKS IN THE DASH, ONE SEAM IN THE FRONT SEAT THAT IS BARLEY SPLIT , AND SOME MINOR SUN FADING ON THE PLASTIC, BUT OVERALL IN GREAT SHAPE.
THE ORIGINAL AM RADIO WORKS AS DOES ALL THE ELECTRICAL. THE AC WORKS BUT NEEDS TO BE CHARGED. TIRES ARE ALMOST NEW. THE V6 ENGINE RUNS GREAT THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS PERFECT. ORIGINAL HUBCAPS ARE PRISTEEN.

THE CAR LOOKS LIKE IT WAS PAINTED ONCE SEVERAL YEARS AGO AND HAS MINOR CHIPS BUT OVERALL IS VERY NICE. THE TRUNK LOOKS AS GOOD AS THE REST OF IT AND HAS THE ORIGINAL SPARE AND JACK AND CARPET.  I REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION MOUNT ABOUT A MONTH AGO. THE ONLY THING HIS CAR NEEDS IS THE AIR CHARGED AND FRONT SWAY BAR END LINKS REPLACED BECAUSE ONE IS DRY ROTTED. THERE IS VERY SMALL AMOUNT OF RUST ON THE L/S REAR QUARTER PANEL.

THESE CARS ARE GETTING HARD TO FIND!!
DON'T LET THIS JEWEL GET AWAY!!!

GM doing fine at retaining Pontiac owners

Fri, 28 Oct 2011

This isn't the first time we've reported positive news about General Motors retaining former Pontiac owners. Get a few more stories like this latest report from Edmund's Auto Observer, and it will mark an ongoing positive trend for GM. Edmunds.com crunched the numbers to see how well the General is hanging on to customers after shutting out the lights at Pontiac, and it found that nearly 40 percent of Pontiac owners stayed with a vehicle from a General Motors brand.
The numbers are a little lower than an earlier R.L. Polk & Company study, but Edmunds says General Motors is keeping more former Pontiac buyers than it has since 2007. Most are turning to vehicles from Chevrolet, especially during January and February of 2011, when GM incentivized Pontiac owners to stay under the umbrella. Those moves seem to have worked, and 28.1 percent of Pontiac owners trading up made the jump into a Bowtie.
Buyers that have gone elsewhere have largely stayed loyal to Domestic automakers, with Ford picking up the most conquests from Pontiac, with 9.4 percent switching. Toyota and Honda picked up 7.4 percent of the pool of former Pontiac drivers. The numbers are defying any predictions that Pontiac buyers would completely exit the General Motors fold, and have climbed up closer to parity with the retention figures of other GM brands from a 2009 low of only 16 percent retention.

GM knew about fatal Chevy ignition problem decade before recall

Fri, 21 Feb 2014

Well, this is not good for General Motors. Following a report last week that GM was recalling 778,000 Chevrolet Cobalt and Pontiac G5 compacts over concerns that the ignition could switch out of the "run" position without warning, USA Today reports that the Detroit-based behemoth knew about the issue, which affected 2005 to 2007 Cobalts (the Cobalt shown above and in the gallery is from 2010) and 2007 Pontiac G5s, all the way back in 2004.
The information comes from a deposition in a civil lawsuit against GM, obtained by USA Today, which claims that a GM engineer experienced the issue while the then-new model was undergoing testing. The issue was "solved" when a technical service bulletin was issued in 2005, informing dealers to install a snap-on key cover on the cars of customers who complained about the issue. According to the Cobalt's program engineering manager, Gary Altman, the cover was an "improvement, it was not a fix to the issue."
The case where the depositions were made was from 2010, and involved Brooke Melton, a 29-year-old pediatric nurse in Georgia who was killed on her birthday. At the time, police claimed she was going too fast on a wet, rural road, although it later came out through the black box that her car's ignition had come out of the "run" position at least three seconds before the accident (the max amount of time a black box records before a wreck), disabling her airbags, power steering and anti-lock brakes. According to USA Today, police said Melton was "traveling too fast for the roadway conditions," although it's impossible to know if she'd have been in the wreck, which injured the occupants of another vehicle, had her 2005 Chevy not shut off. GM settled the Melton family's case, although the details remain confidential.

Junkyard Gem: 1987 Pontiac Safari Station Wagon

Tue, Aug 9 2016

During the 1960s and 1970s, station wagons based on full-sized Detroit sedans were the default family haulers, and many of those Kingswood Estates and Country Squires and Ambassadors came with unapologetically phony woodgrain-printed exterior paneling and trim. By the late 1980s, however, few were snapping up such wagons, making this '87 Safari that I spotted in a Denver yard an interesting find. Power for this wagon came from a 307-cubic-inch Oldsmobile V8 making 140 horsepower. General Motors used this engine in Buicks, Oldsmobiles, Chevrolets, Pontiacs, and Cadillacs, finally discontinuing production for the 1990 model year. Was the "wood" convincing, even when new? Of course not, but it was a cherished American tradition. Related Video: Featured Gallery 1987 Pontiac Safari station wagon in Colorado junkyard View 18 Photos Auto News Pontiac station wagon
