1967 Pontiac Gto #'s Matching 400ho 4spd Phs Original Docs on 2040-cars
Bordentown, New Jersey, United States
Restored 1967 GTO, showing 89000 miles, I'm going to have to assume these are original, because the car looks like it does not have that much wear, but I cannot be 100% sure. Per the previous owner, it has all the original body parts except the tail panel and is where the only filler was used. The interior was redone using parts from Year One. The seat belts and seats are original, but recovered. Dash is original, but the radio is gone and has been replaced with a new Custom Auto Sound stereo and a Rockford Fosgate amp mounted in the trunk with 4 Sony Xplode speakers. (rear speakers are mounted in enclosures sitting on the back floor, I did not want to cut holes in the rear shelf). Not sure about the side glass, but the windshield and back window look original. Car is not show quality, it is a driver with some paint nicks and chips, nothing major, just usual wear. Originally a Montego Cream car with black Cordova top. (Now Prowler Yellow) I have the PHS documentation (build sheet copy, window sticker copy, and billing history copy) It has the original 400 HO WS 360 HP motor, verified through the build sheet. The previous owner told me it was gone over. The original GM carb is gone, it came with a Holley, however, I replaced it with a new Edelbrock 650, and I also installed stainless steel headers, with electric exhaust dumps you can adjust. (I still have the original exhaust manifolds) The trans is a Muncie (M22?) I had a new clutch and fly wheel installed along with a new Hurst shifter. (I have the old original shifter) The rear end is a 12 Bolt Posi (limited slip tag in place) with a 342 gear ratio, also rebuilt. There is no spare tire, but the complete jack is there, not sure if it is the original or not. Power disc brakes from a Nova were added to the front, drums in the back, and there are BFGoodrich 245/45/ZR17 tires all around, with the classic Cragar SS chrome wheels. Options: (from the dealers repo window sheet) 341-power antenna(working) 352-rear speaker verbra-phonic (not working) 431-seat belts custom 444-cluster and tach (working)rally gauge (original gauges work, but not hooked up) 472-console 502-power wonder touch brakes 532 soft ray glass-windshield only 621-springs and shocks-ride and handling 731 differential saf-t-track-HD. I also added an original Pontiac vacuum gauge to the center console, which also works. Has all the original paperwork and owner's manual, original owner's paperwork from dealer, (Boomershine Pontiac, Georgia) as well as the original Proteco-Plate. I know I forgot to list a lot of things about the car, and have tried to describe it the best I could. Please feel free to call John at 609-4six8-1threeone5 and I will try to answer any questions you have. I have owned this car for about 6 years, and have driven it only in the summer months, and stored it in a heated garage in the winter. I cannot tell you much about it before I bought it. I have it for sale locally, so I will reserve the right to end this auction at any time without notice. I strongly suggest that you come drive and inspect this car in person before you bid. In my opinion it runs strong, shifts well and is an overall nice car to cruise around in. Not a 1st place show winner, but a great car just the same. PLEASE DO NOT BID unless you have the funds to buy this car. This car is being sold as is with no warranty whatsoever. Shipping is solely the buyers responsibility. |

1970 Firebird Trans-Am with front-mid-engine to be immortalized as a Hot Wheels car
Mon, Nov 30 2020Each year, the Hot Wheels Legends Tour scours the country to find the coolest real-life cars and chooses one to be made into a $1 diecast toy. Earlier this month, the search came to an end when Riley Stair's heavily modified 1970 Pontiac Firebird Trans-Am won the honors. In a normal year, the Hot Wheels Legends Tour would visit multiple cities, holding a car show where judges would select one winner for that stop. At SEMA, each city's winner would then compete for the top spot. However, due to the coronavirus pandemic, this year the contest was held virtually and globally. And since SEMA was canceled too, the finale was held on the "Jay Leno's Garage" YouTube channel with Leno, Snoop Dogg, Gabriel Iglesias, and Hot Wheels designers as judges. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. What set the Firebird apart was, for starters, its front-mid-engine layout. Its LSX V8 was pushed so far back into the firewall that one bank of exhaust headers had to flow forward before curving around the front of the engine to a side-dump. Of course, all of this was custom fabricated, like the roll cage and front tube frame, with professional-grade welds. The body was also heavily modified, flared and channeled to give it a mean stance. But it's the custom Ohlins suspension with independent rear that give it its track-ready look. Perhaps most impressively, this car, which could go toe-to-toe against (and frankly exceed many) six-figure pro builds at SEMA, was built in the side yard of Stair's parents' house. Aside from body and paint, this was a shadetree job. Stair says it took a couple of years, devoting nearly every night and weekend to transforming a rusty and dented Firebird into his dream machine. Other finalists included a Street Freak-style 1969 Corvette from Florida, cartoony 1959 Chevy Ute nicknamed the "Hulk-amino", Rocket Bunny-style Cayman, 1,000-horsepower Chevy Apache, V8-powered Mini Cooper, stanced Fiat 126 from Germany, chopped VW Brasilia from Mexico, and a race-ready 1976 Hillman Imp from the U.K. Cars were judged on creativity, authenticity, and built-not-bought spirit. Look for the Trans-Am to appear in the 2021 Hot Wheels lineup. Related Video: Â Featured Gallery Hot Wheels Legends Tour 2020 View 16 Photos Toys/Games Pontiac Coupe Performance Classics
Drive plays Smokey, Bandit with turbo Trans Am
Sun, Jun 28 2015The modern trend for powertrains can be summed up with the simple maxim: cut displacement and add forced induction. Whether you are looking at the just-introduced 2016 Chevrolet Cruze or a BMW M3, this adage holds true. However, Pontiac's attempt at the idea goes all the way back in 1980 with the Firebird Trans Am and its turbocharged 4.9-liter V8. Drive's Mike Musto takes out a 1981 example to explain what makes this largely forgotten muscle car so special, and it certainly isn't performance. While a 4.9-liter V8 might sound like a lot in the modern world, keep in mind that only few years before the second-generation Trans Am was available with up to a staggering 7.5-liters of displacement. Turbocharging of road cars in the early '80s was quite archaic by today's standards, and the Firebird only managed around 200 horsepower with this mill. Without much go, the turbo Trans Am made up for a lack of power with lots of show. As Musto points out, the famous flaming chicken adorns practically every surface you can see on the coupe, and boost lights on the hood illuminate when the turbo is spinning. Musto still finds a lot to like about the turbo Trans Am. He even calls it "Burt Reynolds as an automobile." Find out why the coupe is so special in this entertaining clip.
Porsche Sports Car Together Fest is a labor of many Porsche loves
Sat, Sep 17 2022Over Labor Day Weekend, Porsche held its second annual Sports Car Together Fest (SCTF) at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. We happened to be nearby, so we swung by to check out an event we’d never heard of until a few weeks before. Reading about it on Porsche's U.S. web site made us think it would be something like Rennsport Reunion for the Midwest. Turns out SCTF is just as much of a different kind of fun. The fest Tom MooreÂ’s the man behind Dark Horse Motorsports, the motorsport consultant for Porsche Cars North America (PCNA) PR. "People love Rennsport Reunion, but thatÂ’s every three to four years," he explained. “We wanted to gather people on those off years, and we didn't want to just do a mini Rennsport, because thatÂ’s its own thing. WeÂ’ve maintained the motorsport history at Rennsport. Here [at SCTF], we're doing the current look at what Porsche racing is for." In this case, that means gathering what Moore called "our Porsche motorsport pyramid." ThatÂ’s the range of enthusiast drivers from novice to hotshoes trying to get to top-tier endurance racing, "[starting] with the progression from Porsche Club of America track days up to the top of the ladder of one-make racing in North America," the Carrera Cup North America, a series made up of nothing but the latest 500-horsepower 911 GT3 Cup cars. The three days of racing action allowed almost any kind of Porsche owner interested in clipping apexes to compete around an Indianapolis Motor Speedway layout tweaked with an infield section. This year, that included ex-NASCAR star Jeff Gordon, coming out of retirement to reunite with his longtime NASCAR crew chief Ray Evernham for the top-class Cup races. Evernham told us Gordon hasnÂ’t raced in five years and he hasnÂ’t been a crew chief in 22. On very short practice, Gordon finished in 14th in the Pro Class in the first Carrera Cup race of the weekend driving the #24 Hendrick Performance Group Porsche, and 11th in the second race. Afterward, he said, "I made a pass on the white flag lap. That made my whole weekend Â… I must say that yesterday, I thought ‘man, I am getting beat out hereÂ’ and I donÂ’t like that. If I am going to be in an environment like this, I want to be competitive. But today turned the corner for me. So, I hope I get to do another one day." When we strolled the paddock after the event, exposed sheet metal proved "Rubbing is racing" is a thing in the Carrera Cup as well as NASCAR.
