Alvin, Texas, United States
|
Up for sale is my 1965 Pontiac matching numbers GTO no clone here. matching numbers 389 and powerglide transmission, it is a factory AC car although it is now not hooked up. The motor and transmission have about 17,000 since being rebuilt. Demon carb., edlebrock RPM performer intake, 2-chamber flowmasters, hooker super comp. ceramic coated headers, brand new Yukon possi. differential with 3.55 gears. The rear end was completely rebuilt from axle seals and bearing to new differential, gears and bearing. Car has power steering, 4- wheel no power drum brakes( just serviced with new pads and kits on all 4 sides) Everything that is after market on the car I have the factory parts, for the most part; radio, steering wheel, intake, carb, exhaust manifolds, Pontiac safe-T track differential(needs rebuilding) ac parts, ECT. The car runs very well and is a great cruiser for the weekends or daily driver, it is not a trailer queen, but every time I drive it I get my picture taken at red lights or thumbs up. The headliner could be replaced, but it is not in terrible shape, paint job is decent, looks great at 25 feet away but show some imperfections up close. It's a really great car that is a blast to own, and I hate to let her go but I have got too many toys. The car is located just south of Houston TX. if anybody wants to have a look in person. Auction is subject to end early, of coarse no warranty (it is a fifty year old car) and buyer pays shipping cost I will do what I can to help set up. I will not ship or sell this car to anyone outside of the U.S. so if your not in America please do not bid. Clear title in hand also have original window sticker, owners manual, and shop manual.
I also have the original owner's guide, and owner protection plate ( with the guardian maintenance service recommendations- only 3 out of 12 filled out) and it also has the Pontiac Protect-0-Plate and original owners plate. motor is a YS. |

Lutz says GM was working on 5th-gen Pontiac GTO
Thu, 08 Aug 2013Bob Lutz was one of the forces behind bringing the Holden Monaro to the United States, as the ill-fated Pontiac GTO in 2004. And while that car received critical acclaim, it was a sales disappointment. Now, Road & Track is reporting that our suspicions were correct - Pontiac was working on a two-door, G8-based coupe before it was shuttered.
In that R&T article, which is no longer available online, Lutz explained that the new GTO would solve many of the issues found in the original. Car Advice speculates that the new model would have look like a rebadged version of the Holden Coupe 60 Concept from 2008, a conclusion we also came to.
That car would have been a big departure from the 2004 to 2006 GTO. It has an extremely long hood and short rear deck, with an almost fastback roofline and a wide greenhouse with a tall beltline. The wheel arches were very pronounced, and the chin and rocker panel splitters gave it a race-ready look. Would it have been enough to make the GTO work in the US? We think it might of, but it looks like we'll never know.
GM expands ignition switch recall to over 1.3 million cars amid climbing death toll
Tue, 25 Feb 2014
588,000 Saturn Sky, Saturn Ion, Pontiac Solstice and Chevy HHR models join the 778,000 cars already being recalled.
General Motors has announced a massive expansion of a 778,000-unit recall we told you about two weeks ago, doubling not only the total number of cars affected but expanding the recall beyond Chevrolet Cobalt and Pontiac G5 models previously mentioned. The recall originally centered around ignition switches that could slip out of the "run" position if jostled or if any weight was applied to the key in the cylinder.
Watch as Hot Rod goes from El Paso to LA the hard way
Tue, 21 Feb 2012There are few things simultaneously more romantic and idiotic than taking a road trip in a beaten-down heap of a car. Trust us. We know. David Freiburger and Mike Finnegan of Hot Rod Magazine fame recently undertook an epic trip from El Paso, Texas to Los Angeles with the express goal of doing so for under $1,500, including the purchase price of a vehicle, food, lodging, repairs and, most importantly, fuel. With this in mind, the duo settled on a 1972 Pontiac Catalina for a lofty $650. Hilarity ensues.
Realizing that no one actually wants a Catalina sulking around the shop, Freiburger and Finnegan put the car up for auction on eBay Motors the instant they had the title in hand. By the time they rolled into Hot Rod HQ, the vehicle sold for a little over $500.
The video is part of a new series called Roadkill that should document similar adventures. Keep your eyes peeled for more calamity-soaked clips in the near future. In the meantime, hit the jump to check it out yourself.
