Up for sale is a Father/Son project that never made it to completion.

Over 17000$ was invested the car and new parts.

another 6000$+ invested into the motor.

Thats over 23000$ invested into this project.

This bird is in great shape, floors are solid, trunk is solid, quarters are solid.

this bird was restored and last driven in the early 2000s

originally a 6cyl car. We started the conversion to a V8.

About the motor in it. The engine is a 9790071 YS code pontiac 400, 350 horse engine out of a GTO. The heads are #16 D-port heads. The motor was built and set up for drag racing, it had about 3 or 4 passes on it after rebuild and break in.What I had been told about the work done includes blueprinting, forged internals, bored .30, port & polished heads, edelbrock torker rpm aluminum high rise manifold, has a rebuilt edelbrock carb. it is bolted up to a turbo 350 tranny. has a new HEI distributor to go with it still in the box. also has a posi and a non posi rear end to go with the car, not sure of the gear ratio of either rear end.

The interior is new, including new dash pad, new deluxe comfort weave seats, new door panels, new carpet, new headliner, new material to cover sill plates ect. this was a very expensive kit. New wood grain steering wheel, I believe it may be a grant or a similar high quality brand. it is column shift, the floors has not been hacked up to change it to floor shift.

suspension work includes new bushings, new body mount bushings, new leaf springs, new leaf spring bushings, new leaf spring hangers. upgraded to the brakes to single piston discs from 1969 model year for better stopping performance and reliability (completely new kit, including calipers, rotors spindles ect, over 1500$ invested in just the brakes up front). I will toss in a couple sets of rally rims that I have laying around since the original 15s wont fit over the larger brake set up.

The fenders will need a little bit of patch work where they mount to the lower valences, I have a set of fenders in good condition that will be tossed in with the car. The car could use a new coat of paint, or some touch up work.

new weather stripping through out the car aswell.

This is a great project that just needs to be finished and enjoyed. included with the auction is the matching numbers ohc 6 engine and 2 speed auto transmission if you would like to go back to original. there is a rebuilt YS code block for sale on ebay right now for over 3000$ so selling the 400 could easily be profitable if originality is your goal.

The car will need to be hauled on a trailer or a flat bed. We had started to change out the rear leaf springs but never finished so it is in rolling condition, but I would not recommend a tow dolly.

feel free to come inspect it. The car is sold as is with bill of sale. It is a restoration project so it still needs work, but it is very solid and not to far off from driving condition. We were only a few months from completion but unfortunately life events made it impossible to complete.

What it will need that i know of.(may be more needed, then just these parts, im listing the major components)

  • headers & exhaust system
  • battery
  • alternator & brackets
  • power steering pump & lines (the 6 cyl one may work on the 8?)
  • fuel and brake lines
  • rear brakes rebuilt
  • finished restoration & someone who will love and enjoy this rare bird!

Pick up is preffered or you may arrange to have a shipper come pick up the car

Junkyard Gem: 1987 Pontiac Firebird

Sat, May 9 2020

From 1967 through 2002, the Pontiac Division offered the Firebird, close sibling to the Chevrolet Camaro. By the third generation, which debuted for the 1982 model year, it became more difficult to tell the two F-body cars apart at a glance and the Pontiac-exclusive engines of the earlier years disappeared, but the Firebird still retained its own personality and its own position in the GM marketing hierarchy. I still find the occasional 1982-1992 Camaro as I search car graveyards for interesting stuff, but the corresponding Firebirds have become scarce in recent years. Here's a base-engine-equipped '87, its Bright Red paint (yes, that was the official name for the color) faded by the Colorado sun as it awaits the crusher. Firebird shoppers had their choice of three engines in 1987: A 5.7-liter Chevy V8 (210 hp), a 5.0-liter Chevy V8 (205 hp) and the same 2.8-liter 60° V6 that went into the Fiero and countless front-drive GM sedans (135 hp). This car has the base engine. The third-gen F-body didn't weigh much (3,105 pounds for the '87 with six-banger, about what a 2020 Corolla weighs), so 135 horses was tolerable. Plenty of these cars got T-5 5-speed manual transmissions, but this one got the two-pedal setup. Camaro wheels, of course. Our Friend the Carburetor didn't disappear from new cars until the early 1990s in the United States, though electronic fuel injection had become very commonplace by 1987. Still, GM considered this car's EFI worth a door-handle brag. It's not worth fixing up a mashed six-cylinder third-gen Firebird, so we can see the route this car took to its final parking space. GM isn't liable for punitive damages in ignition switch cases

Wed, Nov 20 2019

NEW YORK — A federal appeals court said General Motors is not liable for punitive damages over accidents that occurred after its 2009 bankruptcy and involved vehicles it produced earlier, including vehicles with faulty ignition switches. The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan said on Tuesday that the automaker did not agree to contractually assume liability for punitive damages as part of its federally-backed Chapter 11 reorganization. GM filed for bankruptcy in June 2009, and its best assets were transferred to a new Detroit-based company with the same name. The other assets and many liabilities stayed with "Old GM," which is also known as Motors Liquidation Co. Tuesday's 3-0 decision may help GM reduce its ultimate exposure in nationwide litigation over defective ignition switches in several Chevrolet, Pontiac and Saturn models. It is also a defeat for drivers involved in post-bankruptcy accidents, including those who collided with older GM vehicles driven by others, as well as their law firms. The ignition switch defect could cause engine stalls and keep airbags from deploying, and has been linked to 124 deaths. A lawyer for the drivers and their law firms did not immediately respond to requests for comment. GM had no comment. Circuit Judge Dennis Jacobs said GM's agreement to acquire assets "free and clear" of most liabilities excused it from punitive damages claims for Old GM's conduct. He also noted that the judge who oversaw the bankruptcy concluded that the new company could not be liable for claims that the "deeply insolvent" Old GM would never have paid. The decision upheld a May 2018 ruling by U.S. District Judge Jesse Furman in Manhattan, who oversees the ignition switch litigation. Drivers have sought a variety of damages in that litigation, including for declining resale values. GM has recalled more than 2.6 million vehicles since 2014 over ignition switch problems. It has also paid more than $2.6 billion in related penalties and settlements, including $900 million to settle a U.S. Department of Justice criminal case. The case is In re: Motors Liquidation Co, 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, No. 18-1940. Government/Legal Chevrolet Pontiac Saturn Safety gm ignition switch

Check out the official 2013 Trans Am Hurst Edition commercial

Sat, 16 Mar 2013

The Poncho is dead. Long live the Poncho. Like certain other reoccurring personal maladies, the aftermarket community simply can't let the Trans Am go without another flare up. The guys at Trans Am Depot have worked up a quick commercial for their newest creation: The 2013 Trans Am Hurst Edition, and it watches pretty much like you'd expect it to. The footage is comprised of just about every TA male fantasy you can conceive of, from Daisy Dukes and white tank tops to tramp stamps, bikinis and ice cream cones. There simply aren't words for what you'll see below.
Of course, we like our T-Tops as much as the next guy. If you like what you see in the videos, you can pick up your very own TA by heading over to the Trans Am Depot site. The guys even have Chevrolet Camaro-based versions of the Pontiac GTO if the '77 TA treatment is too much for your tastes. Enjoy, but don't say we didn't warn you.
