1987 Pontiac Fiero Gt Coupe 2-door 2.8l on 2040-cars
Covina, California, United States
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY. MY CAR IS FOR SALE LOCALLY AND MAY BE REMOVED AT ANY TIME. BELOW IS THE TEXT FROM THE LISTING.
1987 Pontiac Fiero GT 6
I have owned this joy for about 5 years. It unfortunately has been forced to be my daily driver instead of the weekend joy. I sold my Cadillac El Dorado several months ago to buy a 1974 Corvette and it is now the weekend joy. The Fiero is senior owned and is just not practical for me to drive daily. I'm just too old to be squeezing in and out of this baby every day anymore.
UPDATE FOR 01.29. 2014: I BOUGHT A 2009 MUSTANG GT PREMIUM TODAY AND THE FIERO NEEDS TO GO. I KNOW MANY ENTHUSIASTS HAVE BEEN WATCHING MY CAR.
Here's the stats:
1987 Pontiac Fiero GT6
All original panels, paint, carpet, door panels, spare tire, glass, etc. I mean all original except for the American Racing wheels.
226xxx original miles.
At 194xxx the Fiero was overhauled with new head gaskets, OEM pistons, OEM lifters, valves, push rods, oil pump and pan gaskets, fuel pump, exhaust manifold gaskets, all new fuel injectors and gaskets and I could go on and on. (I DO NOT HAVE THE PAPERWORK)
I bought the car with 223xxx miles and have driven it about four thousand miles. Here's what I have done to it:
Brand new R134 air conditioning system. Blows 42 degrees. $800
4 brand new Cooper tires $445
New front brakes and calipers $290
New Magnaflow (CA approved) catalytic converter and exhaust (sounds like an Indy car) $540
Brand new Cardone distributor $255
Standard Distributor cap, rotor, wires, spark plugs, ECM $190
All new rubber coolant hoses (steel hoses from rear to front look almost new) $255
Various vacuum hoses (included with coolant hoses)
Dashboard and door panel dress up kits $189
Diamond plate CNC custom cut floor mats $199
Brand new Igee custom CNC cut seat covers $179
Replaced gear oil with OEM anti-lock additive $99
New alternator with regulator $295
New drive belts $209
New air filter $10
And last month, I replaced the timing chain cover and gasket, water pump rear brakes and calipers, 2 sensors -temp and idle, oil and filter and just paid the registration $1017
I have invested thousands and thousands of dollars to make her run and drive like she does. I also have all of the PAPERWORK TO PROVE IT, including mileage. Clutch is tired but fully functional.
Features:
175 HP
Power windows
Power locks
Power mirrors
5 speed manual transmission with short-throw shift kit (reverse is tight)
Original radio and subwoofer
Pull-out sunroof with original storage bag
All gauges and lights work as they should
All-in-all, this is a bitching mid-engine sports car that has been responsibly owned by a 56 year old (SEMA) car guy. If you are looking for a car that will get you a lot of compliments...you should have a look. You will not be sorry...promise. She's got a few body and paint boogers but would clean-up to a 10 with a little TLC.
If you need more pictures, (the interior is bitching) let me know. The 74 Vette and Mustang are as reference to show no BS here..

2008-2009 Pontiac G8 recalled over airbag concern
Mon, 07 Nov 2011General Motors is recalling around 38,000 Pontiac G8 sedans from its 2008 and 2009 model years. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that the cars may have a passenger-side airbag flaw that might prevent proper deployment in certain scenarios.
According to NHTSA, the airbag might not adequately protect a fifth percentile woman - that is, a woman around four-foot, 11-inches weighing 108 pounds. The New York Times indicates that the anomaly was found during a crash test conducted by GM's Australian branch, Holden, which was testing the G8's twin (read: Commodore) for head injuries. According to that report, the test in question is specifically tailored to simulate injuries to females, so the results do not apply to men or children.
The issue has been blamed on a seat position sensor that governs airbag deployment rates. NHTSA indicates that when the front passenger seat is moved all the way forward, the faulty sensor may inappropriately trigger a 30-millisecond delay between airbag stages, potentially leading to greater injuries.
Airbag recall adds 85k Pontiac Vibes to tally
Fri, 13 Jun 2014The repairs needed for the faulty airbag inflators supplied by Takata continue to expand. Toyota initially announced a recall of 766,300 vehicles equipped with the bad part on June 11 as a followup to a campaign from 2013. Soon after, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration opened a preliminary evaluation into five automakers who also used the component in their models. Now, NHTSA has released the official announcement of the latest Toyota recall listing 844,277 affected cars, including the newly added 2003-2004 Pontiac Vibe.
While NHTSA's document didn't include a model-by-model breakdown, General Motors spokesperson Alan Adler estimated to Autoblog that roughly 85,000 Vibes in the US would be covered under the latest recall. Like the rest of the affected models, the airbag inflator could rupture in a crash causing the bag not to work correctly, possibly spraying metal fragments at the occupant.
Toyota spokesperson Cindy Knight told Autoblog that the reason for the disparity between the earlier press release and NHTSA document was that Toyota was continuing to comb through VINs to create a list of affected vehicles. The original number was an estimate of that process at the time. Scroll down to the recall report from NHTSA.
How to turn a Pontiac Fiero into a trackday car
Fri, 17 Oct 2014Imagine hitting the track in a mid-engine, rear-wheel drive sports coupe that's affordable and has pretty good parts availability. It might sound like a pipe dream, but it's actually quite possible, if you're willing to think a little outside the box. The Pontiac Fiero is out there just waiting for a little work to turn it into a competent racing machine.
Think about it for a second. Of course, we would all like to be snaking through the curves in something exotic, but what happens when you crash or something breaks? The bills are going to mount up quickly. However, if you ball up a Fiero at the track, as long as you're not hurt, then it's not a huge tragedy.
That's basically the story of Steven Snyder in a new video from Drive starring Matt Farah. Snyder wanted to go to the track cheaply and ended up with an awesome little Fiero with a huge wing and a claimed 220 horsepower at the wheels thanks to a V6 from a Chevrolet Lumina. Check out the video to see how this pint-size Pontiac performs.
