1960 Pontiac Catalina Base 6.4l on 2040-cars

Year:1960 Mileage:28000
Location:

Chicago, Illinois, United States

Chicago, Illinois, United States

This is a 1960 Pontiac Catalina which is in all original condition with very low mileage at 28k. The only things changed are the rims and tires, but the original hubcaps will be included with car.I bought this car from California with the intention to put a little money into it and use it as a daily driver during the summer months. but I have not found the time to do anything to it and I have two kids in college which are sucking me dry :-) Here's the deal on this car as far as condition. The car is very solid with some surface rust that has recently started to appear and only because its been sitting outside lately. The car is extremely dependable and runs strong. Older cars are known to overheat but this car has been driven long distances without a problem of overheating. everything works on it except for the wipers (very typical). The radio even works great and sounds great considering its 54 years old. The windows roll up and down smoothly. interior is clean condition but does show its age. The engine is original and runs very solid with no signs of burning oil. The transmission shifts just as it should. The body as I said before is pretty solid except for a couple area of concern on the front fenders at the tops (look at pictures). The trunk is all original and solid. Body is straight. I could keep going and describing every aspect of car but I'm not! ;-)
All I can say is the car is far from perfect but considering its all original with no Bondo and no modifications it would make for a great car for someone to restore or just put some money in a new paint job and enjoy the car.
The car is being sold in As Is condition. If you ask questions I will respond.
I'm also selling this call locally and reserve the right to end auction at any time.

Thanks for bidding in advance,
George

FYI yes the mileage is original! The car was owned by an old couple since new and when she was denied her license renewal by the state of California a neighbor of her purchased it from her and he only drove it for short distances for shopping. When I bought it he told me that the only reason he was selling it is because his daughter was getting married and they needed the money. I have original owners manual and the original documents that came with car upon purchase with sales receipt. That's really cool!!!!

Thanks

GM recalling another 1.3-million cars over power steering woes

Mon, 31 Mar 2014

When it rains, it pours. General Motors has announced yet another major recall, covering 1.3 million units in the American market over concerns that the power steering could suddenly fail. As reported by The Detroit News' David Shepardson, GM has now recalled nearly ten times as many cars as it did all of last year.
It's important to note that should this problem arise in these cars, the steering won't fail completely, however, power steering could suddenly stop functioning. Manual steering would still be possible, but as GM says, there's an increased risk of accidents, particularly at lower speeds.
Like the ignition switch recall, this latest problem covers a wide range of vehicles from Chevrolet, Saturn and Pontiac. Normally, we'd give you the full rundown in paragraph form, but the variety of models and model years means a list is just easier. So, have a look, directly from GM's press release:

Hurst Edition Trans Am proves the Screaming Chicken will rise from the ashes

Wed, 31 Oct 2012

It seems the Pontiac Trans Am steadfastly refuses to die. Ever since Chevrolet was granted a retrofied Camaro to compete with the Ford Mustang, Pontiac lovers have lamented the loss of this 1970s icon. And, looking at the Hurst Edition from Trans Am Depot, shown here at the 2012 SEMA Show, may explain what all the fuss is about.
It's not going to appeal to everyone's muscle-car tastes, but there's certainly room for a brash-and-bold black-and-gold Special Edition in many a Trans Am lover's garage. After all, if you want the keys to a custom pony car, you'll certainly get noticed in this one. If this scheme isn't your bag,, you can alternatively order your Hurst Edition in white and gold or silver and black. Oh, and don't forget a color-coordinated Screaming Chicken on the hood.
No matter which way you choose to go, your inner Burt Reynolds will appreciate the Eibach suspension kit, forged wheels with Pirelli PZero tires, functional shaker hood, fender air extractors, rear spoiler and, of course, a Hurst shifter inside. The interior is emblazoned with all manner of special touches, including a Hurst dash plate and T/A stitching on the Katzkin two-tone leather seats.

1969 Pontiac GTO Judge vs. 2006 GTO, which Goat gets your vote?

Mon, 08 Sep 2014

The Pontiac GTO was perhaps the most iconic muscle car of the '60s and early '70s. With its beefy V8 and color palette screaming for attention, it summarized in a single vehicle everything that made the era so appealing to many young people. Pontiac tried to collect just a few drops of that aura again in the 2000s with a revived GTO, but with decidedly mixed results. The performance was still there with its big V8, but the looks never quite lived up to the powertrain. Now, Generation Gap wants to know which of these Goats is the one to own.
Things are skewed immediately because the 2006 GTO here is a real ringer. It comes from famous tuner Ken Lingenfelter's collection, and it's a one-off example partially fettled by GM Performance boasting a twin-turbocharged LS2 V8 with a claimed 750 horsepower and a wide-body kit. This Goat definitely isn't what you're going to find just browsing for one to buy in the newspaper. Still, dip the throttle just a little, and this GTO pulls like a freight train. It's enough to turn the two hosts into giggling schoolboys behind the wheel.
The '69 GTO Judge here is also out of Lingenfelter's collection, but this one is all stock with a 400-cubic-inch (6.6-liter) V8 and a Ram Air hood for a claimed 366 hp. It might not have the unbelievable power of the turbo '06, but it makes up for it with style to spare.
