1961 Pontiac Bonneville Convertible 4Spd Tri-Pwr 8 lug
This is a very authentic & well restored 61 Bonneville 4-speed 8 lug car and was a featured early muscle car at the
2016 Telluride Cars and Colors Concours d'Elegance.
This awesome car was custom ordered near Minneapolis and was frame off restored in 2006-07.
This Numbers Matching PHS verified engine is the 318HP “C4/C8” with its original “Tri-Power” Carbs and HD
air-cleaner. Both the VIN# and the Pontiac Inventory#- -each shown on the PHS inventory card MATCH. Runs great
with its factory “Dual Exhaust” and has been enhanced with 1968 “HO” D port headers, compound starter and
MSD ignition.
The PHS manifest also shows this Bonneville equipped with the early Warner Gear -long tail-shaft T10-1B “4
Speed”. The car is so authentic that the original transmission KK “Spec” tag is still attached and boasts
the original manual transmission back-up light switch. Cases are excellent with proper dates and 4 speed shifts
crisply.
The car was ordered for Maximum power without Power Steering, Brakes or AC. Then, as the PHS card shows, the very
desirable 8 lug HD brakes were added. As an added bonus, from the factory this car had the “Saf-T-Trac” rear
end and a great 3:23 axle ratio for only 2500 RPM @ 70 MPH. Vacuum shows from 8-16" on properly functioning gauge.
The body tag shows that the Excellent exterior paint is the correct “H-4” Tradewind Blue with Blue Top & #253
Silver-Ivory-Blue Interior.
Per Pontiac Dealer Sheet #543267 of 12/61, very scarce and operational 1961 Tachometer and Vacuum Gauges are
installed on the hump above the 4 speed. Also installed are an original Pontiac tissue dispenser & GM Jac Pac air
shocks with compressor & controller.

'67 Chevy Corvair convertible vs. '86 Pontiac Fiero in cult classic showdown

Fri, 22 Aug 2014

Every few a decades, the folks running General Motors lose their minds briefly try to market a car that public doesn't see coming and often aren't ready for. In the '60s there was the rear-engine, air-cooled Chevrolet Corvair, then the mid-engine Pontiac Fiero in the '80s and the completely bizarre Chevy SSR in the 2000s. What all of these had in common was that they bucked the trend for American models of their era, for better or worse. The latest episode of Generation Gap tasked the hosts with finding two cult classic vehicles to choose between; they came come up with two of these quirky products from The General.
On the classic side, there's a 1967 Chevy Corvair Monza convertible. Being from later in the production run, it wears slightly more aerodynamic styling than the earlier, boxier examples. Hanging out back is an air-cooled, 2.7-liter flat-six pumping out a robust 95 horsepower. In the other corner is the somewhat more modern 1986 Pontiac Fiero SE with a mid-mounted, 2.5-liter "Iron Duke" four-cylinder, an engine nearly ubiquitous in GM cars of the '80s.
Judging by when they were new, the Corvair was far more successful than the Fiero with over 1.8 million sold. Of course, Ralph Nader's book Unsafe at Any Speed kind of poisoned the well, even if the poor safety reputation wasn't entirely deserved. The Fiero on the other hand only lasted for a few model years before shuffling off, but it eventually got its own performance boost with the V6 version and rather attractive GT models. Check them both out in the video and tell us in Comments which you want in your garage.

STUDY: Ford owns brand loyalty in 2009; Scorned Saturn, Pontiac buyers will look outside of GM

Fri, 16 Oct 2009

Ford buyers appear to love their cars more than customers of any other automotive brand, returning back to the American automaker when it comes time to purchase their next vehicle. According to a study by Experian Automotive, six of the top 10 vehicles for customer brand loyalty wear badges from the Blue Oval. That includes the Ford Fusion (62.4 percent), Ford Edge (57.9 percent), Ford Five Hundred/Taurus (56 percent), Ford Freestyle (51.9 percent), Ford Escape (49.4 percent) and the Ford Focus (47.57 percent).
Other vehicles making up the top 10 include the Toyota Prius (52 percent), Chevy Impala (51.7 percent), Toyota Camry (47.8 percent) and Toyota Corolla (47.56 percent). This brings up an interesting question: With the closing of automotive brands like Saturn and Pontiac, where are those buyers to turn for their next automotive purchase?
Apparently, not back to General Motors. According to Experian, Pontiac owners are most likely to look to the Ford lineup for their next car or truck and Saturn shoppers will switch to Toyota or Honda - not particularly surprising given that Saturn was meant to compete with import brands. Experian predicts that GM's overall market share will fall from 20 percent to about 17.5 percent, with most of the slack being picked up by Ford, Honda and Toyota.

eBay Find of the Day: 1967 Pontiac GTO Monkeemobile

Sun, 29 Apr 2012

Say what you will about The Monkees, but the guys in the band had great taste in automobiles. Take the Monkeemobile, for example. Built off a 1967 Pontiac GTO Convertible, the custom featured genuinely interesting bodywork and some wild engine bolt-ons. If you're a fan of 1960s pop and yearn to relive the genre's glory days, eBay Motors may have what you need. A recreation of the 1967 Monkeemobile has showed up for auction. This particular replica was built by Dakota County Customs using an four-speed GTO, just like the original.
Built for the band's 45th anniversary and the final Monkees tour last year, this Monkeemobile is faithful down to every last detail. Unfortunately, the trumpet exhaust poking out of the front fender wells and the massive gold-flake blower are for show only. Seems fitting.
If you like what you see, this machine is up for bid in Richfield, Minnesota with two days left on the auctions. So far, bidding as whipped up to $60,000 with the reserve not met. Head over to eBay Motors to have a look.
