Motivated Seller

This race car belonged to a good friend of mine that passed away in 2012. It has been in storage since then and his widow has asked me to list it for sale. She is ready to sell it, motivated to let it go now and I need my garage space.

Here is what I know about the car:

1975 Plymouth Duster that started it's life with a v8 motor. The original motor and transmission also come with the car! The engine is fully dressed and has the transmission attached. We believe it to be a 340 but are not 100% sure. The car was originally black I am told and was painted orange and had all the strips and decals added when it was converted/built for racing. Currently it has a 440 V8 with automatic transmission, dual front race bucket seats, race fuel cell, electric pump, all necessary gauges, full race roll bar front to back, narrow front wheels, wide race slicks on back, plastic bumpers front and rear for light weight, plastic hood, custom air intake and headers.

Last week with the help of a neighbor that circle track races we added race fuel, spun the engine to lubricate everything internally and build oil pressure and then started it up. I was very impressed with how easiely it started and how good it sounds. This is one wicked machine! It shifted in and out of forward and reverse and I moved it in and out of my garage. I understand that it is also street legal. As the owner both raced it at Farmington Dragway in North Carolina as well as took it to the Cruise In and local car shows.

It needs a Battery. I had to borrow one from my truck to start it up. No battery is included.

I have no ideal how fast this car is???? From the build, the motor and the sound I know she is faster than I need to go!

The car is located in Mocksville, NC and available for inspection. The lucky winning bidder is responsible for pickup and all transportation. A $500.00 deposit on PayPal is required within 24 hours of the end of the auction. The car is to be picked up and the balance is to be paid in full within 7 days after the end of the auction.

The true miles of this car are UNKNOWN.

There is NO warranty. Car is sold where is how is.

Please let me know if you have any questions. You can contact me through eBay or call 336-469-3415 after 9am and before 8pm eastern.

The original owner valued the car at $20k before he passed away. Recently local racers put a value of $15k on the car. We have it started at only $11k with NO reserve. Don't let this one get away!

Thank you for bidding

SRT belatedly claims Plymouth Prowler as one of its own

Wed, 19 Dec 2012

Before Chrysler had Street and Racing Technology, it had Performance Vehicle Operations. What the two entities have in common, before SRT became its own brand, of course, is that each was created to take Chrysler and Dodge (and Plymouth, before it was unceremoniously killed off) vehicles to the next level of style and performance.
We'll leave the question of whether or not the old Plymouth (and later Chrysler) Prowler was ultimately a stylish, performance-oriented car to you, but the boys and girls currently leading the SRT charge at the Pentastar headquarters are keen to accept the retro-rod into the fold.
According to the automaker, all of SRT's current high-performance models owe a debt of gratitude to the old Prowler, due mostly to that car's use of lightweight bits and pieces and innovative construction techniques. If nothing else, the fact that the Prowler's frame is "the largest machined automotive part in history" is pretty cool. Read all the details here.

Barrett-Jackson 2014: 1970 Plymouth Hemi Superbird passes half a million dollars

Sat, 18 Jan 2014

The Plymouth Superbird is one of those classic American cars from the muscle car era that has captured the imagination of all sorts of automotive enthusiasts long after its presence on roads and race tracks wore away. It's easy to see why. Where else but in the Swingin' Sixties and Seventies would a car leave the factory with an aerodynamics package that included a pointy beak and a rear spoiler that sat several feet above the rear deck?
The example you see above, which was born in 1970, is one of the finest Superbirds we've ever seen. Combine its complete restoration with its original 426 Hemi engine, and it's no surprise that it managed to bring in a cool half million dollars (plus 10 percent in fees) at Barrett-Jackson. See it yourself in our high-res image gallery above, and scroll down below for the official auction description.

'Blood Muscle' auction to sell impressive collection of ill-begotten classic cars

Wed, 30 Jul 2014

The old saying goes that if you can't do the time, don't do the crime. But being a criminal can involve more than just taking a trip to the big house; it can also mean losing possessions purchased from any ill-gotten gains. Still, one man's loss is another's gain, and if you're in Lodi, NJ, on September 12, you stand the chance to buy some of the ultimate muscle cars from the US Marshals in what is being gruesomely nicknamed the Blood Muscle auction.
The grisly moniker was earned because all of the vehicles belonged to the president of a blood testing company who is facing prison time for alleged bribery, according to Hemmings. After all, they are muscle cars bought with actual blood money. The seven-vehicle collection includes some of the ultimate muscle cars ever made, and the original buyer clearly had an eye for rarity.
This cornucopia of V8 power includes a teal 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429, a 1967 Shelby GT500 Mustang, an orange 1970 Plymouth Superbird, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS convertible and perhaps most prized of all - a trio of 1969 Yenko Chevys with a Chevelle, Nova and Camaro all represented. From the included photos, all of them look to be in fantastic condition.
