Up for sale is a very nice all original "Survivor" 1983 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royale Brougham 2 door Sport Coupe.  This car has had 2 owners, has always been garaged or kept under cover, and has not been winter driven in snow or salt.  It is not dented or rusted, has all original body panels, and has original paint, vinyl top, and interior.  This Olds is equipped with the following:

1.  5.0 V8 (307 Cubic Inch) Oldsmobile V8 with 4bbl Carb.  Runs on regular gas, I have been getting about 18 MPG local and 20-21 MPG highway

2.  Automatic Transmission.

3.  Power Steering and Brakes

4.  Air Conditioning

5.  Power Windows

6.  Power Seat

7.  Tilt Steering Wheel

8.  AM/FM Stereo

9.  Wire Wheel Covers

10. Rear Defroster

11. Brougham interior with deluxe pillowed seats

The original paint on this car still holds a nice shine.  Still has the original painted pinstripes.  Original chrome and brightwork is all really nice.  Like any used car, there are a few small scratches and door dings over the years, but this car still makes a very nice appearance.  Original interior is beautiful.  No rips in carpets, seats, door panels etc.  Engine compartment and trunk compartment are also very nice original.  Under car is also nice and clean, no rusty or scaly.  This is obviously a car that has been well taken care of, and led an easy life.  It has the optional GM mat in the trunk.

This Olds runs and drives great!  As stated above, burns regular 87 octane gas and gets good gas mileage.  Engine and transmission are strong and smooth.  Does not smoke or leak.  Car rides great and has a very sure and luxurious feel about it as would be expected in a top of the line Oldsmobile from this era.  I drove it a few days ago on a 150 mile trip to a car show.  It did great, with no problems or issues.  I would not be afraid to drive anywhere.  Recent maintenance includes:

1.  Tires replaced

2.  Battery replaced

3.  Exhaust replaced from catalytic converter back

4.  A/C converted over to the new 134-A Freon.

Only thing I see that does not work is the clock.  This would be a great car to go to shows and cruise-ins, use as a vintage tour car, or even as regular transportation.  Nice original Survivor cars are getting harder and harder to find, and are the up and coming thing in the hobby.  Remember, they are only original once!  Don't miss this nice low mileage car (only 62,000 from new) at a reasonable price!

ABOUT ME: I am a long time (35 years) hobbyist and collector of nice original "Survivor" cars. I have been in the same location for over 25 years and collect, trade, and fool with nice original cars from the late 1950s to mid 1980s. I keep a "rotating collection" of 6 to 8 such cars. When new arrivals appear, I will sell some to make room. This is the case here.

Now for the rules:

1. Your bid is a contract! If you are the successful bidder, you are expected to pay! Please have all contingencies handled and your money in place BEFORE you bid! No retractions will be allowed, so be sure BEFORE you bid! Please read and understand this: ASK QUESTIONS AND GET ANSWERS BEFORE YOU BID.

2. A $1000.00 NON REFUNDABLE partial payment is due within 48 hours of end of auction. This can be by bank wire transfer. Pay Pal is NOT acceptable for this. Balance is due within 7 days of auction's conclusion. This can be by bank wire transfer as well, and is probably the safest method.

3. Please note that car and I am currently at my summer residence. This is in upstate NY, about 1 hour west of Albany, and 1.5 hours east of Syracuse.

4. Vehicle and papers will not leave here until paid in full with cleared funds. If you are paying with ANY kind of check, it must clear MY bank before car or ownership will be released. No exceptions! Please note that with all the fraudulent money orders out there, most banks treat them like personal checks and place a 5 to 7 business day hold on them. Wire transfer is the best method. If you are paying balance on pickup, it must be cash in person. No exceptions.

5. Vehicle is sold strictly as-is at my premisies with no guarantee or warranty of any kind.

6. Transportation is the buyer's responsibility. I will try to reasonably help and accommodate you any way I can, but it still YOUR responsibility.

7. If you cannot pick up immediately, that is fine, it can be left here for a reasonable period. However, it still must be paid for within the 7 days, and you should secure insurance as I cannot be responsible for loss or damage due to circumstances beyond my control or act of God.

8. Please ask and get satisfactory answers to all questions BEFORE YOU BID! Since sold strictly as/is, no warranty or returns, once you bid, you have made a binding contract.

9. Car is advertised locally for sale. If I find a buyer through that venue, I reserve the right to end auction early. Please call me at 704-661-1326 (cell) or 518-835-5058 (landline) with any further questions about this. due to spotty cell service, call both and leave messages at both if no answer.

10. If you have been an Ebay member for less than a year and/or have less than 10 feedbacks, and/or have less than a 95% rating, you MUST contact me BEFORE you bid. Failure to do this may result in my cancelling your bid and blocking you from bidding on my items. I understand that new members can be great customers, but I must talk to you first. Thanks a lot!

I am sorry for all the rules, but it seems that 5% of difficult people spoil it for the 95% who are good. Thanks very much for looking! Again, please feel free to call 704-661-1326 cell or 518-835-5058 landline with any questions. Leave message if no answer. Thanks for looking!

GM recalling 8.4M cars, 8.2M related to ignition problems

Mon, 30 Jun 2014

General Motors today announced a truly massive recall covering some 8.4 million vehicles in North America. Most significantly, 8.2 million examples of the affected vehicles are being called back due to "unintended ignition key rotation," though GM spokesperson Alan Adler tells Autoblog that this issue is not like the infamous Chevy Cobalt ignition switch fiasco.
For the sake of perspective, translated to US population, this total recall figure would equal a car for each resident of New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Montana, Delaware, South Dakota, Alaska, North Dakota, the District of Columbia, Vermont and Wyoming. Combined. Here's how it all breaks down:
7,610,862 vehicles in North America being recalled for unintended ignition key rotation. 6,805,679 are in the United States.

Jay Leno bangs up his own Toronado in GT6

Wed, 11 Dec 2013

Ever since Gran Turismo 4, Jay Leno has had at least one of his cars included in the popular racing simulator (starting with the Tank Car), and more of his machines appears in Gran Turismo 6. They include this nose-heavy, front-wheel-drive V8-powered muscle car. Yes, that aptly describes a 1966 Oldsmobile Toronado - except Leno's is rear-wheel drive. And it has a Cadillac CTS-V race engine modified to pump out 1,070 horsepower.
For the latest Jay Leno's Garage episode, he takes his real Toronado out for a cruise and then drives the virtual one like he stole it, accruing some body damage along the way. Leno also drives the virtual supercar Mercedes-Benz designed for GT6, the AMG Vision Gran Turismo Concept that debuted at the LA Auto Show, along with the real one, which is a 1:1-scale model. The model is radio-controlled and equipped with a small electric motor, sufficient to move it on and off of auto show floors.
Head below to watch the episode, which includes a few words from GT6 creator Kazunori Yamauchi.

eBay Find of the Day: 1976 GMC Motorhome is a jolly green giant

Wed, 18 Jun 2014

If you have a need to relive the 1970s, then here is the vehicle for you. This groovy blast from the past is a 1976 GMC Motorhome currently for auction in Florida on eBay Motors, and it is one green machine - just not in the modern sense.
The seller claims that this beast has had just two owners and has covered a mere 61,308 miles in its decades on the road. It's reportedly never been restored or repainted and comes with all of the necessary books and manuals. A 7.5-liter (455-cubic-inch) Oldsmobile V8 with a three-speed Turbo-Hydramatic automatic transmission powering the front wheels propels this far-out RV, and the double set of rear wheels out back use a self-leveling air suspension to provide a cushy ride.
The purported low miles and good condition really make this GMC a stand out, though. The exterior combination of lime stripes and beige with just a touch of green is like nothing else on the road today. Plus, the polished bumpers and wheels make it all pop. Inside, it's even better with monochromatic green upholstery and shag carpet. It features everything you'd ever need on a long trip, including a bathroom, kitchenette and lots of seating. The only hint of modernization is an HD TV next to the stove, but its size is a perfect fit for the hole there.
