This is my 1987 Cutlass Salon coupe with only 91,483 original miles.

This is probably one of the finest-condition Cutlass Salons for sale anywhere in the country.  This is a very clean, nice, original car that runs and drives perfectly.  It is a totally reliable, dependable car that is ready to enjoy immediately.  You don't need to rebuild or restore this car- it is ready to go.

This is a fun, great-driving Cutlass that you can drive everyday if you wanted.  It could also be your weekend cruiser or car cruise toy.  If you've been looking for a really nice Cutlass- this is it.

This is the top-of-the-line Cutlass Supreme, the Cutlass Salon.  This is a luxury/appearance package including upgraded equipment plus a rally package of guages and gold mag wheels.

This Cutlass has the following equipment and options:

  • Salon package
  • 5.0L Oldsmobile 307 V8 engine
  • automatic transmission with overdrive
  • A/C
  • power driver's seat
  • tilt sheering wheel
  • cruise control
  • power locks
  • power windows
  • Kenwood AM/FM/CD player

This is a very clean, great condition Cutlass Salon coupe- again probably one of the nicest ones you will find for sale anywhere.  The body is straight, clean and in excellent condition.  The car has been repainted once, and a quality job was done.  The paint is glossy, smooth and looks very good.  The paint and body are very nice.  The body panels are straight and clean.  This car looks beautiful and it turns heads everywhere.  Everybody remembers these cars and has fond memories of when this was the hot GM luxury coupe.

The interior of the car is original, clean and in very nice condition- please see the photos.  The carpets and upholstery are in good condition and look very nice for being 26 years old.

This car starts, runs and drives great.  The car is quiet, smooth and powerful.  It runs perfectly, with no hesitation nor any known mechanical problems.  The car tracks straight and it is tight on the road.  The engine, transmission, brakes, suspension, steering, etc are working great with no known problems.  This is a totally dependable, reliable car- I'd trust it to drive cross-country tomorrow.

This car is 26 years old and as such it is not brand new.  Please expect normal wear and tear consistent with the age of the car.  The only faults I can note are these:  The carpet in the back seat footwells is worn and covered with the floormats.  There is minor and normal interior wear.  There is a piece of plastic chrome trim on the side of the driver's seat which is broken. Also the power antenna stays up all the time.  The paint job looks very good but it is not a $10,000 job- if you look super close you can see typical tiny flaws and imperfections- I would say the quality of the paint job is very nice and appropriate to the car.  There is one tiny spot with few small bubbles forming under the paint but otherwise the car is totally rust free and solid.  The air conditioning is intact and everything is in place but it is too cold here to test if it blows cold.

You can fly in to Cleveland (CLE) and drive this car home, or alternatively you can have it shipped.  I highly recommend Angels Moving Autos at 530 245 0481.

This Or That: 1980 Oldsmobile 442 vs. 1989 BMW 635CSi [w/poll]

Thu, 09 Oct 2014

The last time I roped a coworker into an automotive debate, I lost. Resoundingly, I might add. Still, 2,385 voters chose to cast their lots for the Fiat 500 Abarth, as opposed to 5,273 choosing the Ford Fiesta ST, and so I can rest easy in the knowledge that at least 30 percent of you, dear readers, see things my way. I still like to think we have more fun, too.
My loss in the first round of our This or That series, in which two Autoblog editors pick sides on any given topic and then attempt to explain why the other is completely wrong, didn't stop me from picking another good-natured fight, this time with Senior Editor Seyth Miersma. Last time, our chosen sides were eerily similar in design, albeit quite different in actual execution. This time, our vehicular peculiarities couldn't seemingly fall any further from one another: A 1980 Oldsmobile 442 wouldn't seem to match up in comparison to a 1989 BMW 635CSi.
How did we come up with such disparate contenders? Simple, really. Seyth and I mutually agreed to choose a car that's currently for sale online. It had to be built and sold in the 1980s, and it had to be a coupe. The price cap was set at $10,000. The fruits of our searching labors will henceforth be disputed, with Seyth on the side of the Germans, and myself arguing in favor of the Rocket Olds. Am I setting myself up for another lopsided loss?

Jay Leno bangs up his own Toronado in GT6

Wed, 11 Dec 2013

Ever since Gran Turismo 4, Jay Leno has had at least one of his cars included in the popular racing simulator (starting with the Tank Car), and more of his machines appears in Gran Turismo 6. They include this nose-heavy, front-wheel-drive V8-powered muscle car. Yes, that aptly describes a 1966 Oldsmobile Toronado - except Leno's is rear-wheel drive. And it has a Cadillac CTS-V race engine modified to pump out 1,070 horsepower.
For the latest Jay Leno's Garage episode, he takes his real Toronado out for a cruise and then drives the virtual one like he stole it, accruing some body damage along the way. Leno also drives the virtual supercar Mercedes-Benz designed for GT6, the AMG Vision Gran Turismo Concept that debuted at the LA Auto Show, along with the real one, which is a 1:1-scale model. The model is radio-controlled and equipped with a small electric motor, sufficient to move it on and off of auto show floors.
Head below to watch the episode, which includes a few words from GT6 creator Kazunori Yamauchi.

Ferrari FF pitted against Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser in crazy Generation Gap comparison

Thu, 13 Nov 2014

The folks behind Generation Gap have lost their minds with this latest video. The goal here is to determine the ultimate family cruiser, but the choices are what you would least expect, with a heavily modded 1970 Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser going up against a 2012 Ferrari FF.
You might anticipate an over-40-year-old Oldsmobile to pale in comparison to any modern Ferrari, but this wagon has a ton of secrets under its skin thanks to Lingenfelter. First, it packs a supercharged LS3 V8 with a claimed 650 horsepower and a six-speed manual gearbox. That big upgrade in power is further helped with air suspension and massive Wilwood disc brakes. The result is nothing short of deafening, with blaring yelps whenever the driver even nudges the accelerator.
The alternative sounds just as good, albeit in very different way. The Ferrari's 6.3-liter V12 pumps out 651 hp and 504 pound-feet with a part-time all-wheel drive system. While the FF lacks a lot of the hauling ability of the Olds, it makes up for the deficit in handling, luxury, and in many eyes, simply by having the famous prancing horse on the grille.
