Canton, Georgia, United States

Up for your consideration is a very nice well kept garage kept 70' cutlass supreme convertible. This car is said to have lived its whole life in Georgia with 88,xxx original miles. It has lived most of its life in Cherokee county Georgia. The previous owner owned this car since year 2000. He purchased it from someone in the same county who in the early to mid 90's who had a cosmetic restoration including a detailed paint job. When the car was painted it looked to have had all jambs, under hood etc.. detailed as well. The car still sports that paint job today ! This car has it all with bucket seats, automatic floor console, power steering, power brakes, disc brakes, power convertible top and more. The car was taken down to a reputable race shop in Cumming Georgia for a complete drive line mod. The original 350 motor was pulled out and replaced with a new fresh rebuilt 455. The motor started out being bored .30 over, new pistons, new rods, performance cam, edelbrock aluminium performance heads, 455 performer intake manifold, complete electronic msd ignition system, digital 6al box, finned aluminum mickey thompson valve covers, new carburetor , high torque mini starter, headers, new mandrel bent exhaust, mufflers, etc. At the time of installation the transmission was then completely gone through and built up to handle the power. Everything under the hood is either rebuilt or new.  The previous owner stated that he had a bill of 14,000 dollars for all work completed at the race shop. The engine and transmission are in perfect running condition. Starts every time on a dime and sounds awesome !! This car runs out great super quick and best of all NO LEAKS !  Motor and trans only have 3,500 miles on it since installed so it is all virtually new still. Tires all still have great tread. Runs down the road straight and fun to drive. The paint still looks good as you can see in the pictures. There is a few small spots of rust surfacing through. The biggest area is in the driver side lower front as seen in the pictures. There is very small amounts starting around the rear quarters. Some lite paint bubbling in a few lower parts of car. The floor pans are rock solid and in perfect condition except for one small hole in passenger front section of floor pan only. Perfect rust free trunk pan. Really nice deck lid, hood and complete front clip.  All in all a really nice solid car for the money. The interior is completely intact, starting to show some age mostly in the drivers front seat. Carpet looks great . Dash is in great shape. The tachometer is just clamped to the column and can be easily removed if wanted. Steering wheel is cracked but I have a  factory sport/rally wheel to replace it that goes with the car. All original glass including the convertible top glass. Factory dash clock option,  working am/fm radio. All the headlights, gas gauge, indicators , brake lights, flashers, column lock, oil pressure, temp gauge, battery gauge, interior lights etc.. work perfectly as they should. The convertible top goes up and down perfectly , it does have 3 small tears than can be repaired if desired. The convertible switch on the dash needs to be replaced. The ac system is complete and intact but was never recharged after motor installed. This car is an amazing find for what it is. This car mechanically is rite and is ready for cruising. Only needs minor body/ interior work if wanting to bring it into a show stopper. Or just drive it and enjoy!  Car will come with the 1970 original licence plate on front bumper, extra convertible pump, full size spare, sport steering wheel, 2 sets of keys. Also I have  the original motor, transmission and extra rear end that can be worked out if wanted.

This convertible is an awesome fun to drive daily driver only needing minor cosmetics if you wish to bring it to the next level. Draws a lot of attention everywhere you go and mechanically its rite !

This is an amazing find for one of these cars in this condition and what it has to offer. Take a look at the pictures below and bid away because you will not find a better deal on a convertible like this at the price it we be sold for. Good luck and don't miss out!!

I may have this car for sale locally as well. If sold before auction ends I have the rite to end the auction early. When the reserve is met, it will be sold here only!

Please only bid if you plan to pay and always ask questions before bidding.

Deposit of 500.00 is due after auction ends unless prior arrangements have been made.

It will be sold as is condition and will be sold with a Georgia bill of sale. Georgia is a non title state for classics of this age. If you need a title for your state you should be able to obtain one with the proper paperwork. I will provide you with whatever paperwork Georgia offers to obtain a title in your state.

GM recalling 8.4M cars, 8.2M related to ignition problems

Mon, 30 Jun 2014

General Motors today announced a truly massive recall covering some 8.4 million vehicles in North America. Most significantly, 8.2 million examples of the affected vehicles are being called back due to "unintended ignition key rotation," though GM spokesperson Alan Adler tells Autoblog that this issue is not like the infamous Chevy Cobalt ignition switch fiasco.
For the sake of perspective, translated to US population, this total recall figure would equal a car for each resident of New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Montana, Delaware, South Dakota, Alaska, North Dakota, the District of Columbia, Vermont and Wyoming. Combined. Here's how it all breaks down:
7,610,862 vehicles in North America being recalled for unintended ignition key rotation. 6,805,679 are in the United States.

This Or That: 1980 Oldsmobile 442 vs. 1989 BMW 635CSi [w/poll]

Thu, 09 Oct 2014

The last time I roped a coworker into an automotive debate, I lost. Resoundingly, I might add. Still, 2,385 voters chose to cast their lots for the Fiat 500 Abarth, as opposed to 5,273 choosing the Ford Fiesta ST, and so I can rest easy in the knowledge that at least 30 percent of you, dear readers, see things my way. I still like to think we have more fun, too.
My loss in the first round of our This or That series, in which two Autoblog editors pick sides on any given topic and then attempt to explain why the other is completely wrong, didn't stop me from picking another good-natured fight, this time with Senior Editor Seyth Miersma. Last time, our chosen sides were eerily similar in design, albeit quite different in actual execution. This time, our vehicular peculiarities couldn't seemingly fall any further from one another: A 1980 Oldsmobile 442 wouldn't seem to match up in comparison to a 1989 BMW 635CSi.
How did we come up with such disparate contenders? Simple, really. Seyth and I mutually agreed to choose a car that's currently for sale online. It had to be built and sold in the 1980s, and it had to be a coupe. The price cap was set at $10,000. The fruits of our searching labors will henceforth be disputed, with Seyth on the side of the Germans, and myself arguing in favor of the Rocket Olds. Am I setting myself up for another lopsided loss?

Jay Leno bangs up his own Toronado in GT6

Wed, 11 Dec 2013

Ever since Gran Turismo 4, Jay Leno has had at least one of his cars included in the popular racing simulator (starting with the Tank Car), and more of his machines appears in Gran Turismo 6. They include this nose-heavy, front-wheel-drive V8-powered muscle car. Yes, that aptly describes a 1966 Oldsmobile Toronado - except Leno's is rear-wheel drive. And it has a Cadillac CTS-V race engine modified to pump out 1,070 horsepower.
For the latest Jay Leno's Garage episode, he takes his real Toronado out for a cruise and then drives the virtual one like he stole it, accruing some body damage along the way. Leno also drives the virtual supercar Mercedes-Benz designed for GT6, the AMG Vision Gran Turismo Concept that debuted at the LA Auto Show, along with the real one, which is a 1:1-scale model. The model is radio-controlled and equipped with a small electric motor, sufficient to move it on and off of auto show floors.
Head below to watch the episode, which includes a few words from GT6 creator Kazunori Yamauchi.
