Nissan Claims 'World's Cleanest Car' Crown

Nissan is claiming the title of "world's cleanest car" by coating a 2015 Nissan Leaf in superhydrophobic and olephobic paint. The paint repels water and oil by creating a protective layer of air between the paint and environment. It rejects water and oils so efficiently that dirt doesn't have a chance to set or streak, according to Nissan. Water and oil bead and wick away from the car's body, leaving the green machine clean. The paint is called Ultra-Ever Dry and it was developed by UltraTech International. It's just an experiment so far that's not yet been added to any production vehicles, but the paint company says Nissan is one of the first automakers to take an interest in the technology. Nissan has been tinkering with the paint for several months, and coated a European Note hatchback to showcase its possibilities. "No matter what the road throws at this Leaf, its Ultra-Ever Dry exterior coating will throw right back," UltraTech International Inc. CEO Mark Shaw told a crowd during a TED talk. 2014 Nissan Versa Note priced from $13,990*

With the 2014 Nissan Versa Note going on sale this month, Nissan has announced the official pricing for its redesigned subcompact hatchback. Commanding a $2,000 premium over the Versa sedan, the new Versa Note will have a starting price of $13,990 (*not including $790 for destination), which is $680 less than the 2012 Versa Hatchback.
The base model is the Versa Note S, but trim levels also include S Plus and SV starting at $15,240 and $15,990, respectively. The S Plus trim will deliver the highest fuel economy - best in class according to Nissan - for the Versa Note thanks to a CVT and active grille shutters, and the SV brings more convenience features like power windows and door locks (that's right, the base models will still get crank windows and manual door locks). Stepping up even further, the SL Package will add push-button starter, backup camera and heated seats for $17,690 while the SL Tech Package tops out at $18,490 with navigation, Nissan's Around View Monitor and Bluetooth. Nissan recalls 76k Rogues for faulty fuel pumps

Nissan is recalling 76,242 units of the 2014 Rogue with production dates between June 11, 2013 and June 7, 2014, because of faulty fuel pumps. According to the advisory from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the nickel plating in the part can come loose and bind up the impeller. With the pump no longer working, the vehicle might not start or there could be a stall when driving. According to the documents submitted to NHTSA (available here in PDF format), Nissan received the first report a Rogue not starting in March 2014. The automaker and fuel pump supplier Bosch monitored the situation. As more incidents occurred, they instituted this recall. Nissan is clear in saying that even if a stall occurs, electrical power remains to leave the air bags functional. To fix the problem the automaker is replacing the fuel pump on the affected Rogues with a new one at no charge to owners, and the company expects this process to begin in April.
