I just drove this car up from VA 23703 to NY 11738 .This vehicle is my daily. It is my second of two. I had the bottom end rebuilt. It contains new Pistons, Piston Rings, Piston wrist pins and end clips, New ACL Bearings both Main and Rod Bearings, The crank was measured and did not need micro polishing. Neither the block or head needed resurfacing. The block was professionally honed. The flywheel was resurfaced and a New Exedy Clutch and pressure plate was installed. Every gasket was replaced from oil pan up. A New rear main seal, crank seal, crank gear, cam gear, timing chain, chain tensioner, chain guides, and oil pump were all replaced with New parts. A new starter, spark plugs, spark wires, distributor cap, and New Oil Pump was installed. The head was cleaned and had New Valve Stem seals installed. All work was done at the local machine shop in Portsmouth, VA "Doug's Machine Shop". The rebuild is now 5,478 miles old. The heat and AC work. The defrost works. The manual transmission is smooth. The rear suspension struts are now KYG G2s due to one of the factory struts being "blown" upon purchase. This car is 100% TurnKey reliable. I just drove it up from VA and refueled once for the 427mile trip. It takes $45 to fill it up from the last line just before the gas Light comes on. This car still has the Factory cassette Radio. I believe I'm the 3rd maybe 4th owner of this vehicle. It has been kept in Immaculate shape and I have had the Engine Rebuilt so the entire car is "Like New" once again. It is a complete vehicle and weighs 2,830 with a 1/2 tank of gas and Me (160lbs) in it. Has a full interior, all carpet and all panels. Perfect for a relatively undercover SR, RB, LS1, or 2JZ conversion !!

2014 Nissan Rogue

Wed, 08 Jan 2014

The compact crossover segment is crowded because it offers near-perfect transportation for small families and empty nesters alike. As more and more consumers discover the benefits of compact crossovers - riding tall in traffic, enjoying four-cylinder fuel economy and the confidence of all-weather traction - automakers are jumping into the game to meet the increasing demand. Today's choices, in no particular order, include the Honda CR-V, Jeep Cherokee, Mazda CX-5, Hyundai Tucson, Mini Countryman, Subaru Forester, Kia Sportage, Volkswagen Tiguan, Ford Escape, Mitsubishi Outlander, Toyota RAV4 and this Nissan Rogue. Nearly all start around $22,000 in base trim and work their way reasonably upwards with more appealing trim levels and options. If you spend much over $33,000 in this segment, you are a glutton for frosting.
The latest player from Nissan is its all-new second-generation Rogue, introduced late last year as a 2014 model. After a brief First Drive in October, we recently welcomed back the Rogue for a week-long review. The plan was to embed the compact crossover into a family routine during the holidays, where it would receive a hearty workout hauling everything from five adult passengers and their shopping bags to trays loaded with warm honey-glazed hams and pecan pies for a dinner party. The compact CUV handled all with poise, but everything wasn't as sweet as its edible cargo.

Nissan's Carlos Ghosn taps the brakes on autonomous car progress

Fri, 18 Jul 2014

"Self-driving cars remain a long way from commercial reality."
Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn shocked the automotive industry last year when he announced that his company plans to offer consumers an autonomous car by 2020. The automaker even showed off its self-driving Leaf prototype as proof. He was bolder recently with the pronouncement that select markets could have them in 2018, if laws allowed. The boss' optimism appears to be waning, though, and he's now sounding a lot more conservative about the future. While driverless vehicles are still on the way, Ghosn is hedging his bets with a more gradual implementation of several systems.

Nissan NV200 Taxi

Thu, 21 Aug 2014

"You're a long way from home!"
When I signed up to drive a pre-production version of the Nissan NV200 Taxi, I expected to have a higher-than-normal level of interaction with the public at large. However, while I was hoping for unsuspecting Ann Arborites to perhaps hail me down, or maybe even get a hop-in when stopped at an intersection, I didn't really think I'd be hassled in parking lots so much. And yet, almost as if all of the Dad-Joke energy in the universe was drawn to my tall, yellow ride, seemingly everywhere I parked I heard some iteration of the phrase above.
Har har, guys.
