Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder GTS - Garage Kept - CAR IS IN SAFE MODE

I purchased this car from a local dealer when the mileage was just 40,000 as my personal car.  I used it mainly to go back and forth to work which was only 8 miles from my home, hence the still low miles of only 70,556.  It has been loved, cared for and driven with the utmost respect by me only since I purchased it.  It has NEVER been run hard or abused in any way while in my care!!!

About 2 years ago I bought a truck and retired the car to the garage for the most part, other than the occasional week end ride.  Then one day I went to go for a ride and low and behold it went into "Safe Mode."  My husband replaced several sensors thinking one of them was the issue with no success.

Other than being in safe mode (means that all the electronics have been shut down to the transmission as a safety feature to keep it from sustaining damage) this car is still in extra nice condition.  The motor runs well with no problems at all and the transmission is still in great condition if you can figure out which component has gone simple that is.  The exterior is still beautiful and shiny with only a few small dings here and there, nothing bad enough to note specifically.  The interior is also in extra nice condition with no rips or tears in the leather seats, it has a 6 cd changer, all the extras this model came out with and power everything.  The dash has cracked (defect) as it did on all these cars of this year and the lining on the interior of the top is loose around the rear window.  Various minor, normal signs of use.  None severe.  The convertible top is in very good working condition.

Overall a great car in very nice condition.  If you're a mechanic or mechanically inclined this car is perfect for you.  It don't believe it will require much money to fix if you can do it yourself but it will require a knowledgeable mechanic.  Fluids changed regularly, all maintenance requirements were met or exceeded.

Includes the original top cover for when the top is down.

Being sold "AS IS."

Mitsubishi denies plans for Toyota/Subaru rival sports coupe

Tue, 23 Oct 2012

Forgive us for being wistful, but there was a time when Mitsubishi coupes and sports cars were the downright awesome. The 1990s brought us the all-wheel drive, turbocharged Eclipse GSX and the twin-turbocharged 3000GT VR-4 (seen here). The times, they were good.
Fast-forward to today, and the Lancer Evolution exists as Mitsubishi's sole, true performance offering. Mitsubishi killed off the Eclipse last year, by which time it had lost much the luster of its predecessors. With an affordable Japanese sports car fomenting underway thanks to Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ, one may think that it's an ideal time for a brand like Mitsubishi to jump back into the performance coupe game. A rear-drive Mitsubishi sports car to take on the Toyobaru twins could be just what the brand needs to gain some mindshare among consumers.
Not so, says Osamu Masuko. The president and executive director of Mitsubishi told reporters at the Sydney Motor Show, "Our engineers are very prominent to investigate new technologies, but to use that technology they are not that good to bring the revenue to make that money." Read: the engineers want to do it, but the company does not find it to be financially responsible.

Mitsubishi Concept G4 leaves us feeling blue

Sat, 20 Apr 2013

To say we were unimpressed by the 2014 Mitsubishi Mirage that debuted in New York earlier this year would be one heck of an understatement. So pardon us for not oohing and aahing over the Concept G4 that we're seeing for the first time here in Shanghai. It is, basically, a Mirage sedan. Try to contain your excitement.
Mitsubishi states that it intends to roll out the production version of the G4 Concept globally, powered by a 1.2-liter MIVEC engine mated to a continuously variable transmission that should at least be good for some substantial fuel economy gains. The Mirage, after all, is rated at 37/44 miles per gallon city/highway. We're also told that the car will be very lightweight, and that this should aid in making this thing not drive like a total dud.
We'll wait and see how the relatively sharp lines of the concept transfer to production form, but given that we already know what the Mirage looks like, we have a pretty good feeling that we'll be just as underwhelmed the second time around. Have a look below for the press blast.

Subprime financing on the rise in new car sales, leasing too

Fri, 07 Dec 2012

We all remember the financial crisis that began several years back. At its core was a splurge of subprime lending for housing loans. The housing bubble burst, triggering a collapse of the mortgage-backed securities market. Apparently, those types of loans still exist in the automotive industry, and the market share for these types of "nonprime, subprime, and deep subprime," loans has grown 13.6 percent compared to the third quarter a year ago.
According to an Automotive News report, high-risk lending expanded to 24.8 percent of total loans in Q3, up from 21.9 percent for this time last year. As this level increased, average credit scores of borrowers dropped to 755, down from 763 a year ago. In that time, the average financing amount increased $90 per vehicle, to $25,963.
At 818, Volvo maintains the highest per-owner credit score, while Mitsubishi has the lowest, at 694. The highest rate of borrowers was at Toyota, with 14 percent of the market, followed by Ford with 13.1 percent and Chevrolet at 11.1.
