ABOUT

Started Restoration and unfortunately have no time to complete. Taken half the car to bare metal and primed, then started working on floor when work stopped. Car is in amazing shape except for the floors.  I have all period correct metal ready to weld in, spent a full year aquiring and having the piecs custom made. This is an extremely early MK1 car and as such they do not make the body panels for them. So the starting auction price is at my cost for the body $2k and new custom metal at $4k, not the hundred hours already invested.

Body is in extremely great shape for these first cars, only the floors need attention for which I have painstakenly assembled and had custom made in Europe and shipped to the states.

Key Features in the 1959/Early '60 Minis that make them unique and rare.

  • Brass Exterior Door Hinges
  • Door Locks with Round button
  • Flat Rocker Sills Single Piece Floor Pans
  • Windscreen and Rear Window Flat with no Seam
  • Proper early door drain hole

You can download the 1959/60 Mini Buyers guide PDF here
1959/60 Mini build variations can be found here

COMPLETED it will look like this if you choose. Body was originally painted Farina Grey.  note picture is an example only.

INCLUDED ARE ALL OF THE REPLACEMENT PERIOD CORRECT METAL FOR THE EARLY FLOORS.

Note half of these panels had to be custom made by M-Machine in Europe since this is such an early car no one sells or makes single sill floors.
I paid over $4000 to have this made correctly. You cannot purchase these custom pieces anywhere else from my research.

Driving the Lotus Emira and Nissan Sakura | Autoblog Podcast #805

Fri, Nov 3 2023

In this episode of the Autoblog Podcast, Editor-in-Chief Greg Migliore is joined by Senior Editor, Electric, John Beltz Snyder and Associate Editor Byron Hurd. This week we've got a handful of cars to review, like the Lotus Emira, Jaguar F-Type, Honda Accord Hybrid, Mini Cooper SE and Nissan Sakura. There's a new Autoblog T-shirt available through a collaboration with Blipshift (read more here, and buy yours here). Could there be a new, midsize Ram pickup set for U.S. production? Nissan is considering an affordable, electrified small pickup for America. The VW ID.7 Tourer electric wagon has been revealed, and we consider whether it should come here, too. John talks about the energy of the exhibition halls at the 2023 Japan Mobility Show, and our hosts talk highlights from SEMA 2023. Finally, we open some listener mail to help choose a fun convertible rental for a trip to Phoenix in this week's "Spend My Money" segment. The manual transmission in the Mini Cooper is officially dead

Tue, Sep 5 2023

We feared this might be the case after learning all about the latest Mini Cooper, but now it’s confirmed: The manual Mini is dead. Confirmation of the news comes from Mini boss Stefanie Wurst via an interview with Top Gear. “We wonÂ’t have a manual, unfortunately,” Wurst told TG in reference to the new generation of Cooper. Mini revealed its new model last week in the lead-up to the Munich Motor Show, and while the company was happy to share all the details on the electric E and SE, the gas models remained shrouded in a bit of mystery. We know there will be a base and an S model powered by gasoline engines, and now we know that they will be exclusively equipped with automatic transmissions. The elimination of the manual transmission is a tad ironic, given Mini just recently opened a Mini Manual Driving School in California. The point of that school was to teach people how to operate a manual transmission, but now Mini wonÂ’t have any in its lineup come 2025. This news was also foreshadowed a bit by the introduction of the Mini John Cooper Works 1 to 6 Edition earlier this year. Mini made that model as an ode to the manual, and it limited production to just 999 units worldwide. It looks like that special edition is more of a send-off to the manual transmission than anything at this point. As of now, you can still get the manual transmission on the Mini Hardtop and Convertible models, but the 2024 model year will be the end of this generation of Mini, and with it, the end of the manual transmission in the lineup. Mini's Oxford factory builds its 10 millionth car

Fri, Aug 9 2019

Mini has a lot to celebrate in 2019. The original, pocket-sized city car that spawned the entire brand made its debut 60 years ago, and its historic factory in Oxford, England, made its 10 millionth vehicle in August. The zesty hatchback is already on its way to meet its biggest fans. Fittingly, the milestone car is a limited-edition 60 Years-badged model. It's based on the two-door Cooper S, so its 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine is turbocharged to 192 horsepower, and it receives several edition-specific touches like brown leather upholstery with green accents, an array of special decals and logos, plus 17-inch alloy wheels designed for the model. The 10 millionth Oxford-built car isn't destined for a life spent in a museum or in a private collection. At least not yet. It's already hit the road as part of a 61-car convoy making the 84-mile trip from the Oxford factory to Bristol to attend the International Mini Meet taking place August 11. The first Mini built, a white Morris Mini-Minor, is at the head of the pack. It's followed by an example made during every year of the model's unusually long production run. And what a run it was. There were 5.3 million examples of the original Mini made between 1959 and 2000, but not all of them were manufactured in Oxford, and none were sold under the Mini brand. Parent company BMW created Mini as we know it in late 2000 when it launched the first-generation Cooper (the car now known as the Hardtop). Its numerous predecessors were given more than a dozen names including Austin Seven, Austin Mini, Innocenti Mini, Morris 850, Riley Elf, and Rover Mini.
