2003 Mercury Marauder

Silver Birch with Black interior
Fully loaded minus sunroof(they look out of place on a car this big and are prone to leaking)

The car has the following Mods:
4.10 gears
Circle D Triple Disc 11” 2600 rpm stall torque converter
Built Transmission installed at 64K
Supercharger from a 03 Cobra and supporting mods installed at 64K
After Market Tune for the Engine management and transmission shift schedule

Engine- The engine has never given me any issues. Never burned any oil between changes(3000 mile mobile one for me). No smoke on cold start. I recently replaced the timing chain tensioners and guides and the inside of the motor was very clean.

New Ford Water Pump, Changed the Oil and coolant and installed new Spark plugs. Band new motorcraft 850 cold cranking amp battery

Transmission-
It’s a 4R75W in a 4R70W case. It has extra clutches, reworked valve body, HD overdrive bands and the Forced Tail Shaft Lube Mod. It currently has about 15k miles on it and I just changed the fluid. This transmission has performed awesome. The shifts are quick and firm at low throttle setting but not to harsh. The more aggressive you get with the throttle the more firm the shifts get. It has a aftermarket 24,000 gvw transmission cooler installed with a 180 degree thermostat. The OD to 3rd Downshift. In order to install the extra clutches the “Wave Plate” was removed The only negative to this is when the transmission downshifts from OD to 3Rd you can feel it. Its not bad or scary its just noticeable. On must automatics you can feel the up shifts but as you coast to a stop you can’t feel any of the downshifts. With the “Wave Plate” removed you feel the downshift from OD to 3rd. Torque Converter- 11” Triple Disc Circle D Torque Converter with the new transmission. Based on Chris at Circle D’s recommendation I got a slightly lower then stock stall speed. I loved the way it drives.

Rear Differential-
New Ford Racing 4.10 gears with all new inner bearings and carbon fiber clutches at around 60K. For my type of driving I actually got slightly better gas mileage

Blower-
The blower is a used 03 Cobra factory eaton. Was told it had about 50k on it. I replaced the oil and coupler when I installed it. No issues. Ford GT fuel Pump with BAP.39# from a Cobra90m MAF from a Lighting.LFP Dual Pass Lighting IntercoolerStock cobra IAT2 sensor and location.I kept the EGR and it passes emissions testing with no issues. The Car put down 374RWHP and 384 ft-lbs. Air Fuel ratio is 10.2-1 at WOT at 13 degrees of timing. It starts pulling timing at 100 degrees IAT. Most would call that a very conservative. It runs and drives GREAT!!!

Driveshaft-
While the car was down during the Eaton Swap the Driveshaft balanced and replaced the U-Joints Interior-Is in good shape. Org floor mats are a little worn. I’ve treated the leather twice a year. No boost gauge but I replaced the factory gauges with an AEM Air fuel and an Aeroforce gauges. The tires are Nitto Motivo with less the 2000 miles on them. After the tires were installed I had it aligned The Front Brake Pads are new and the rotors were just turned. A/C was recharged last year and blows cold.

Body-
The Paint is in above average condition. No Fading. No Rust. All original silver paint. There is a dent on the driver side fender(pictured) that I will get fixed at a paintless dent repair shop before the auction ends The right front wheel has some significant curb rash. The other 3 look good. The windshield has 2 small chips that have been treated to prevent spreading. Also this car has the factory air ride suspension and works perfectly. The exhaust is completely stock and is super quiet. I didn't want anything loud. The car is a sleeper. The car has 5% limo tint all the way around and 35% on the entire front windshield. Has an autopage alarm with two pats keys. I have been a 100% positive feedback member since 2002 and I refuse to sell junk. This car is in tip top shape for it's age and will put a smile on anyone's face. Thanks for looking. photo DSC_0566.jpg photo DSC_0559.jpg photo DSC_0452.jpg photo DSC_0460.jpg photo DSC_0472.jpg photo DSC_0483.jpg photo DSC_0490.jpg photo DSC_0500.jpg photo DSC_0520.jpg photo DSC_0531.jpg photo DSC_0532.jpg photo DSC_0537.jpg photo DSC_0537.jpg photo DSC_0539.jpg photo DSC_0543.jpg photo DSC_0544.jpg photo DSC_0547.jpg photo DSC_0550.jpg photo DSC_0552.jpg photo DSC_0556.jpg photo DSC_0565.jpg photo DSC_0580.jpg photo DSC_0577.jpg photo DSC_0581.jpg photo DSC_0582.jpg photo DSC_0583.jpg photo DSC_0585.jpg photo DSC_0592.jpg photo DSC_0587.jpg photo DSC_0589.jpg photo DSC_0595.jpg photo DSC_0595.jpg photo DSC_0604.jpg photo DSC_0599.jpg photo DSC_0603.jpg photo DSC_0613.jpg photo DSC_0606.jpg photo DSC_0605.jpg photo DSC_0586.jpg photo 1544581_10154017669085161_7054751181464828026_n-1.jpg

Junkyard Gem: 2007 Mercury Mariner Hybrid

Sat, Dec 19 2020

Once hybrid vehicles from Honda and Toyota proved to work well in the real world of American streets during the early 2000s, other U.S.-market manufacturers climbed aboard the gasoline-electric bandwagon. Ford introduced the Escape Hybrid for the 2005 model year and sales proved quite strong; its Mercury-badged sibling, the Mariner Hybrid, appeared the following year. The Mariner Hybrid never induced many vehicle shoppers to sign on the line which is dotted, despite gasoline prices going absolutely ape in 2008, though it remained available all the way through the Mercury brand's 2010 demise. Here's one of those rare trucks, found in a Denver-area yard last month. The Escape/Mariner Hybrids got amazing fuel economy for tall, truck-shaped machines, though the serious penny-pinchers with long commutes skipped anything built in the 21st century and began driving up the prices of the once-scorned Geo Metro XFi, gas-sipping champion of the previous decade. The Mercury brand was on the ropes by this time, with not much to distinguish the once-distinctive Mercury machines from their near-identical Ford counterparts. The 1999-2002 Cougar was the last Mercury sold here with no twin brothers over in the Ford showrooms. I do see the occasional Escape Hybrid in places like this, though such gas-saving small SUVs tend to retain their value well enough that it takes a crash to retire one. This Mariner Hybrid hit something hard and either flipped on its side or scraped a guardrail for some distance. The airbags deployed and, presumably, spared the occupants from serious injury. That's the good news. The bad news is that fixing this kind of damage to a 13-year-old vehicle made by a defunct brand just isn't worth it to insurance companies, hybrid-electric powertrain or not. We can assume that the battery pack lives on in another Escape/Mariner. Navigation, Bluetooth, and other features that were considered pretty slick in 2007. This truck was in pretty good shape until the very end. Jill Wagner proved that you can bury a Mercury emblem in volcanic soil and it will grow into a brand-new Mariner Hybrid. That's how science works! You can go to the same field and tap on a Mercury emblem, if you want to get a regular gasoline Mariner. Impala SS vs. Marauder: Recalling Detroit’s muscle sedans

Thu, Apr 30 2020

Impala SS vs. Marauder — it was comparo that only really happened in theory. ChevyÂ’s muscle sedan ran from 1994-96, while MercuryÂ’s answer arrived in 2003 and only lasted until 2004. TheyÂ’re linked inextricably, as there were few options for powerful American sedans during that milquetoast period for enthusiasts. The debate was reignited recently among Autoblog editors when a pristine 1996 Chevy Impala SS with just 2,173 miles on the odometer hit the market on Bring a Trailer. Most of the staff favored the Impala for its sinister looks and said that it lived up to its billing as a legit muscle car. Nearly two-thirds of you agree. We ran an unscientific Twitter poll that generated 851 votes, 63.9 percent of which backed the Impala. Muscle sedans, take your pick: — Greg Migliore (@GregMigliore) April 14, 2020 Then and now enthusiasts felt the Impala was a more complete execution with guts. The Marauder, despite coming along later, felt more hacked together, according to prevailing sentiments. Why? On purpose and on paper theyÂ’re similar. The ImpalaÂ’s 5.7-liter LT1 V8 making 260 horsepower and 330 pound-feet of torque was impressive for a two-ton sedan in the mid-Â’90s. The Marauder was actually more powerful — its 4.6-liter V8 was rated at 302 hp and 318 lb-ft. The ImpalaÂ’s engine was also used in the C4 Corvette. The MarauderÂ’s mill was shared with the Mustang Mach 1. You can see why they resonated so deeply with Boomers longing for a bygone era and also captured the attention of coming-of-age Gen Xers. Car and DriverÂ’s staff gave the Marauder a lukewarm review back in ‘03, citing its solid handling and features, yet knocking the sedan for being slow off the line. In a Hemmings article appropriately called “Autopsy” from 2004, the ImpalaÂ’s stronger low-end torque and smooth shifting transmission earned praise, separating it from the more sluggish Mercury. All of this was captured in the carsÂ’ acceleration times, highlighting metrically the differences in their character. The Impala hit 60 miles per hour in 6.5 seconds, while the Marauder was a half-second slower, according to C/D testing. Other sites have them closer together, which reinforces the premise it really was the little things that separated these muscle cars. Both made the most of their genetics, riding on ancient platforms (FordÂ’s Panther and General MotorsÂ’ B-body) that preceded these cars by decades. Both had iconic names.

Ford announces free brake pad offer if customers stop by dealers

Mon, 04 Aug 2014

These days, when you buy a new car, it's not unreasonable to expect a certain period of free maintenance to come along as well. Sometimes this is through the life of the warranty, in other cases a little less. But Ford Motor Company is going beyond those deals for at least one part of its cars. As of now, if you buy a set of Motorcraft brake pads for a Ford, Lincoln or Mercury model, you get free replacements for as long as you own the vehicle. The offer is good at Ford or Lincoln dealers and Quick Lane Tire & Auto Centers.
"We will replace the pads for as long as you own the vehicle," said Elizabeth Weigandt to Autoblog. She did clarify that the Motorcraft pads are generally for models from the '90s or newer. Also, to take advantage of this program, a person must return to the same dealer each time to get the free parts.
Of course, Ford isn't just handing out brake pads to anyone who walks by; there are certain stipulations. First, the components have to be worn down to less than three millimeters to be eligible, and the buyer still has to pay for the labor to install them. If the model is used as a fleet vehicle for commercial purposes like as a taxi or limousine, this offer also doesn't apply; the same thing for racecars. On the plus side, if you recently bought a set of pads from one of the participating locations, you're still in luck. The deal covers parts purchased as of July 1.
