Up for auction is a 2004 Mercury Mountaineer Premier. This vehice is loaded with features and is the top model. It's in great condition inside and out. Just had it cleaned and it looks great. No check engine light. The ABS light has come on in the past but goes out. Last time it came on was about three weeks ago, and then the next time I started it, the light wasn't on any longer. The truck makes a clicking/clunk/rubbing noise on turns. I managed to live with it for the past year. It is currently registered, insured and is one of my daily drivers. I brought it to the Dealer to get the noise checked out and they told me it was a CV joint. I was quoted about $400 to have it fixed but never had the extra money to put into it. I purchased something bigger and I no longer need this vehicle. It runs and drives and gets me to where I need to go on a daily basis. However the noise is starting to get louder. Again, I've lived with it this long, and I'm not really selling it because of the fact that it makes noise, but more-so because I already made a new purchase and no longer need this vehicle. AC works great, heat works great, doesn't get stuck in the snow. Always serviced at the dealership, just did an oil change about 800 miles ago. The truck has the following options: V8 4.6L engine AWD Auto Trans Power Steering Premier Series Package ABS AC Power Windows Power Locks Cruise Control Reverse Warning Sensors Daul Air Bags Rear Seat Entertainment System (DVD system - works great and keeps the kids quiet). Dual Power Seats Leather Third Row Seat Rear Center Console Rear AC Vents Seating for 6 Running Boards Power Moon Roof Tow Package Privacy Glass Roof Racks Blue Book Value is over $8,000!!!! Fix the stupid noise and you got yourself a perfect car for more than half that! I love the truck but I needed something that could easily seat 7 to 8 passengers as I have kids and a large family. Your purchase and/or bids constitute full acceptance of the terms as outlined herein. Upon successful winning of the auction and/or purchase of the vehicle, buyer agrees to make an immediate deposit of $500.00 USD by PayPal. No other payment method will be accepted for deposits. eBay Find of the Day: Craterface's '49 Mercury convertible from Grease
Wed, 29 Jan 2014Here is your chance to own your very own piece of greased lightning. Well, not the Greased Lighting, it's actually the black, flamed 1949 Mercury convertible that races against John Travolta in the classic 1978 movie Grease, and it's for auction on eBay Motors.
While it appeared in the film's exciting drag race in a Los Angeles storm drain, the hot rod was reportedly lost until last year, when the seller found it as a shell. He verified that it was the actual car with original builder, Eddie Paul, and sent the car for a complete restoration.
The auction includes original parts like the exhaust tips used in the movie and bent bumper from when it hit Travolta's car in the scene. The restorer recreated the scorpion stickers on the doors, razor hubcaps and license plate. He also installed a 1949 Mercury 255-cubic-inch (4.2-liter), flathead V8 and three-speed manual transmission with overdrive.
Has the Mercury Marauder gotten better with age?
Fri, Oct 23 2015In the early 2000s Mercury desperately wanted to develop some edge for its brand – seemingly stuck between a quasi-premium, quasi-performance space in the Ford Universe. The Marauder is perhaps the most famous of the vehicles that resulted from those efforts, and is rapidly approaching Modern Classic status, today. Effectively a murdered out Grand Marquis with some updated trim pieces – what are company parts bins for, if not raiding? – the Marauder looked convincingly like a bad guy car. The 4.6-liter V8 under its hood that had been breathed on by engineers for a little more power, kicking out 302 horsepower and 318 pound-feet of torque from the factory. Not exactly Ferrari-baiting numbers, but it'd give your local cop's car a run for its money. Being a wild child of the last decade, of course our friends at MotorWeek had it on the program. What better way to test your mean-mugging muscle sedan than with John Davis' tanned and steady hands?
Question of the Day: Most degraded car name?
Fri, May 27 2016When Ford came up with a not-so-sporty version of the Pinto and slapped Mustang badges on it in 1974, that was a low point for the Mustang name. When Chrysler applied the venerable Town & Country name on perfectly functional but unglamorous minivans, it saddened many of us. But perhaps the biggest demotion for a once-proud model came when, in 1988, General Motors imported a misery-enhancing Daewoo from Korea and called it the Pontiac LeMans. The original Pontiac LeMans was a great-looking midsize car with fairly advanced (for the time) suspension design and engine options including potent V8s and a screaming overhead-cam straight-six. The Daewoo-based Pontiac LeMans was a cramped, shoddy hooptie that served only to ruin the LeMans name forever, while stealing sales from the Suzuki-based Chevrolet Sprint. Sure, using the once-respected Monterey name on the Mercurized Ford Freestar was bad, but Mercury didn't have long to live at that point. I say the downward spiral of the LeMans name was the most agonizing in automotive history. What do you think? Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party.
