Here is a near showroom condition 1974 Mercury Montego ready for show or cruise, or add to any collection, no rust anywhere on this original Alabama car.  It has the rare rainbow roof and special order 400 V-8 engine.  The maize yellow paint is original and in excellent condition with minor touch up, but in top notch shape for almost being 40 years old.  The deluxe interior will take you back to the 70's and is near showroom shape.  This Montego has been at The Motor Muster in Greenfield Village, Dearborn Mi. the last six years, so it shows great and gets lots of looks and comments.  There were only 1500 of these built for 1974 and I'll bet there aren't any left in this great of shape.  I have the Marti report and In the 7 years I've owned it I have not seen one.  The pictures don't do it justice, it rides and drives as good as it looks.  The car is For Sale locally so auction could end if sold.  Please email me any questions or call, text 734-620-four six four seven.  Buyer must have vehicle picked up or delivered at own expense.  Thank you for looking and bidding you won't be disappointed.

Curtain officially comes down on Mercury as dealers remove signage

Mon, 03 Jan 2011

The process of shutting down the Mercury is complete. Ford officially made the decision to close its mid-level brand in June of 2010. In the months that followed, Ford offered its dealers money to stop selling the cars, with production shutting down in September. The last Mercury, a Mariner, rolled off the assembly line in the beginning of October and former spokesperson Jill Wagner said her good-byes to both the car and her job. Now the last piece of the brand has come down as dealers are removing any and all Mercury signage from their lots.

NHTSA closes probes on Jeep Grand Cherokee, Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey

Wed, 09 Jan 2013

The Detroit News reports the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has officially closed its investigations into 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee, 2004-2005 Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey models. The separate probes found no issues that pose safety concerns. NHTSA began investigating certain Grand Cherokee SUVs over complaints that power steering hoses could detach during operation, thereby increasing the risk of a vehicle fire. Of the 24 reports of failure, none alleged smoke or fire in the engine bay, and Chrysler has since modified the power steering cooler assembly to reduce the likelihood of the failure.
Meanwhile, certain Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey vehicles garnered a government probe after receiving complaints that the models were equipped with faulty scissor jacks. The agency had received six reports of the jacks failing or causing injuries, including one incident that resulted in a fatality. But NHTSA says the jack failure rate is similar to those found in other vehicles. In those six cases, the government agency found the jacks were being used for something other than changing a tire, and investigators could not determine whether the emergency brake was set or the rear tires were properly chocked.

NHTSA closes rollaway investigation into 1.56M Ford SUVs

Mon, 11 Mar 2013

It's taken four years of study, but the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has finally closed the books on its investigation into rollaway accusations surrounding 1.56-million Ford SUV models.
The probe, which centered on the 2002-2005 Ford Explorer, 2002-2005 Mercury Mountaineer and 2003-2005 Lincoln Aviator, ends without the federal agency calling for a recall. According to The Detroit News, the investigation was closed due to a "low number of complaints" - NHTSA documented 180 such complaints that resulted in 14 crashes and six minor injuries, but the number of incidents have been slowing. The suspected defect rate for the trucks' automatic transmissions was found to be 4.4 per 100,000 units, and the brake-shift interlock mechanism failure rate was judged to be even lower at 3.4 per 100k.
