Mercury Grand Marquis [GS] V8 (1995)

I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) 07/30/2009. Due to a pretty progressive disease course,
I am unable to drive much and MUST sadly sell! They sure don't make cars like these anymore!!! Runs
with a strong V-8 and has nice, cold air! It does have a small barely noticeable ding here and there
on the rear quarter panels, and the power windows are not functioning, but are rolled up. Also the
driver door opens from outside only, but can be fixed easily by someone capable of doing so. It had
one minor fender bender about 4 years ago, but it did not effect the car negatively. Insurance
paid and performed all repairs 100% and looks much better than before.

I change the oil faithfully every 3,000 miles. Any mechanic that has ever changed the oil on it, has
always stated: "You don't usually see a 95 Merc. this clean." I have all service records as well.
Sure it has it's normal wear and tear, but very minimal and NO rust! 95% of the miles are highway miles,
as I was an Ohio Private Investigator, up until my diagnosis. It burns a little oil occasionally, but
it doesn't leak a drop! Most importantly it has "all original miles" never turned over!!! 132,8xx and
drives and handles smoooooth! Title in hand, buy from a trusted seller today! Any further questions just
call me.

Translogic drives wood-burning Mercury Beaver XR-7

Sun, 31 Jul 2011

You read the title right, we're talking about the Mercury Beaver XR-7. No, Mercury never officially built a car called the beaver. This is the brainchild of upstate New Yorker Chip Beam, who owns and operates Beaver Energy, LLC. It runs on gases created by wood pellets fermented in a 2,400-degree furnace and fed to a supercharged Ford 4.6-liter V8.
By all accounts, it gets down the road just fine, and has pretty close to full power. The best part is, you can grow the fuel yourself and avoid patronizing big oil, if that's your thing. The only drawback that we can see to the Mercury Beaver XR-7 is the PVC pipe jungle occupying the space that would be the trunk under normal circumstances.
Still, if you're willing to smell like a mountain man and look like a bad Back to the Future knockoff, this ride is right up your alley. Click past the jump to see Translogic's take on this modified Merc.

NHTSA and Ford investigating steering issues in Crown Vic, Grand Marquis and Marauder

Fri, 11 Jul 2014

There may be more steering woes for the Ford Crown Victoria. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has opened a preliminary evaluation into the Crown Vic and Mercury Grand Marquis from the 2004 to 2007 model years and the Mercury Marauder for the 2004 and 2005 model years because the steering shaft can jam. The issue could potentially affect an estimated 500,000 vehicles.
According to the regulator, there is a possibility that the driver's side heat shield for the exhaust manifold can rust, dislodge, and then wedge into the steering shaft. If this occurs, it leads to a situation where the driver can no longer control the car.
NHTSA has received five complaints of this happening, including one alleged case with an injury. In that situation, the car was driving onto the highway, lost control and rolled over. One occupant was hurt in the accident.

eBay Find of the Day: Craterface's '49 Mercury convertible from Grease

Wed, 29 Jan 2014

Here is your chance to own your very own piece of greased lightning. Well, not the Greased Lighting, it's actually the black, flamed 1949 Mercury convertible that races against John Travolta in the classic 1978 movie Grease, and it's for auction on eBay Motors.
While it appeared in the film's exciting drag race in a Los Angeles storm drain, the hot rod was reportedly lost until last year, when the seller found it as a shell. He verified that it was the actual car with original builder, Eddie Paul, and sent the car for a complete restoration.
The auction includes original parts like the exhaust tips used in the movie and bent bumper from when it hit Travolta's car in the scene. The restorer recreated the scorpion stickers on the doors, razor hubcaps and license plate. He also installed a 1949 Mercury 255-cubic-inch (4.2-liter), flathead V8 and three-speed manual transmission with overdrive.
