1963 Mercury Comet S-22 V8 4speed Original Owner on 2040-cars

Year:1963 Mileage:999999
Location:

Louisiana, Missouri, United States

This is a 63 mercury comet convertible that was purchased new here in my home town. Same owner for all these years. Straight out of the garage where it has been sitting. The owner called me and said they still had that old convertible in their garage and it would not run. They wanted to get rid of it. SO I go and pick car up, flushed gas tank, cleaned points, and put battery in it and now car runs and drives.
This is kind of a rare car I think. IT has the S-22 package and it a real red, v8, 4speed car. Has power top, and power steering also.

 SEE THE ORIGINAL OWNERS MANUAL
I do not see any rust in floors ,but there is some rust in rear lower 1/4s and under hood on aprons. The rear bumper has damage and there are dings on car.
I have tried to take pics of the bad spots to not hide anything.
This is not a show car but is a fun car to just jump in and drive.
You can get in this car and pump pedal twice and car starts right up.
Enjoy the way it is or restore.

happy bidding

Curtain officially comes down on Mercury as dealers remove signage

Mon, 03 Jan 2011

The process of shutting down the Mercury is complete. Ford officially made the decision to close its mid-level brand in June of 2010. In the months that followed, Ford offered its dealers money to stop selling the cars, with production shutting down in September. The last Mercury, a Mariner, rolled off the assembly line in the beginning of October and former spokesperson Jill Wagner said her good-byes to both the car and her job. Now the last piece of the brand has come down as dealers are removing any and all Mercury signage from their lots.

Ford's J Mays feels vindicated by Fusion reception

Tue, 25 Sep 2012

It's hard to think back now, but the same man overseeing the design of the 2013 Ford Fusion also presided over a rather lackluster period in Ford design, highlighted by vehicles like the Five Hundred and Freestyle. With the redesigned Fusion receiving high praise, J Mays tells Automotive News that he feels vindicated from criticisms suggesting he's not a daring enough designer.
When Mays took over as lead of design in 1997, he admits to having quite an ego ("My head would barely fit through the door some days. I've long since gotten over myself") and the workload to match. With the Blue Oval's portfolio full of premium brands like Aston Martin, Jaguar, Land Rover and Volvo at that point, along with the bread-and-butter Ford, Lincoln and Mercury models, Mays certainly had quite the challenge.
It was in the mid-2000s that Mays took over just the premium brands, and took on the new title of Chief Creative Officer. At the time, Mays endured some criticism for looking backwards to retro styling, rather than setting a new standard for American car design - criticism that Mays says he is free from with the all-new Fusion.

Jill Wagner retired as Mercury spokeswoman

Wed, 17 Nov 2010

Jill Wagner has officially given up her crown as the queen of Mercury. With the Ford middle child on its way to the scrap heap, Wagner no longer has any automotive hardware to promote. Given her varied talents, we wouldn't be surprised to see her pick up where she left off with another automaker.
And here you thought you'd never be upset about Mercury's passing.
Thanks for the tip, Gregg!
