I am the 2nd owner of this 2008 Mercedes-Benz SLK 55 AMG. The 1st owner was a 77 yr (young) lady from San Diego, CA who took exceptionally good care of this car. It has always been garaged and I doubt has ever seen rain or any inclement weather. I bought this car for my wife who has driven it only a handful of times since we bought it 2 years ago. There are no marks anywhere in or out that I am aware of. The condition is pristine. The car comes with all books, manuals, and service records from Mercedes, along with two smart key infrared remotes. The car has had Mercedes' 60K service which is the expensive one. It has a clear Carfax with no accidents or damage. The extra options besides the SLK 55 AMG pkg are as follows: Lighting Pkg with Bi-Xeon headlamps, Airscarf Neck-level heating system, Harmon/Kardon 6-disc CD changer, DVD Command Navigation w/updated CD, Cloth Windscreen, Automatic Climate Control, along with all the other standard Mercedes features. It has new Pirelli Nitrogen filled tires. This car runs exceptionally well, maybe too fast, one of the reasons my wife didn't want to drive it, I personally think it is great, but it is "her" car. It has 3 modes: manual, sport, and "grandma" at least that's what I call it. Even in the slow mode I think it was still too fast for her. The Kelly Blue Book on this car is $34,042 trade in value and $37,311 Retail value. I am starting the car at a much lower price with "no reserve", so someone will hopefully get a good deal on a great car. The car sells as is, where is, with no warranty expressed or implied. Payment will be made via "bank wire transfer", or personal check (once cleared) with a non-refundable deposit of $500 due 48hrs of auction close (this can be Pay Pal if you prefer) All shipping, pickup and handling is buyers responsibility. The car is located in Benton, LA 71006. Thanks for looking and may God bless.

Carlsson SLK 340 Judd is winged up for hill climb glory

Wed, 06 Mar 2013

Carlsson has been expertly tuning Mercedes-Benz products for more than 20 years now, but we can't say as we remember the outfit turning out anything quite so racy as this SLK 340 Judd that it has brought along to the Geneva Motor Show this year.
This SLK is meant for competition, obviously, and Carlsson has already booked the car to race in several hill climb events in the E1 category. The purpose-built racer should have a fighting chance to do well in said races, with a shape vetted in wind tunnel testing for maximum downforce, the SLK uses a carbon-fiber bodyshell to help achieve a curb weight of just about 1,720 pounds.
The featherweight SLK's name comes from its 3.4-liter V8 engine, which churns out a wicked 610 horsepower to go with its 317 pound-feet of torque. A Hewland transmission with paddle shift operation manages all of the thrust.

Mercedes was set to sell version of Nissan Titan, now Infiniti might instead

Wed, 18 Sep 2013

Mercedes-Benz Titan. Mercedes-Benz Frontier. Mercedes-Benz pickup truck. None of these things roll off the tongue particularly well. We'd like to think that's the reason Daimler opted to kill the idea of rebadged Titan and Frontier pickups from corporate ally Nissan. In reality, the execution before the Frankfurt Motor Show was due to more complicated issues.
Yes, Mercedes, byword for German luxury, style and quality, would have slapped a three-pointed star on a pair of Japanese pickup trucks that have failed to resonate with consumers in the world's largest truck market. That slapping of badges isn't much of an exaggeration, at least on the outside. According to the report from Road & Track, the truck's front clip would have been tweaked, but beyond that, the sheetmetal would have been unchanged. The interior would have received a more thorough going-over by the team at Mercedes, while the suspension and noise, vibration and harshness tuning would have also received significant attention.
The trucks would have ended up being sold through the light-commercial branch of Mercedes-Benz - the same folks that will happily sell you a Sprinter van - had the deal gone through. Issues arose, though, first with the engines. Mercedes wanted a wider range of powertrains to allow it to tune models for specific markets, while Nissan said it couldn't engineer the wide variety of engines that MB wanted to drop under the hood. For the smaller truck, meanwhile, MB was interested in a hybrid or plug-in variant, according to R&T, although this was also shot down by Nissan.

Watch Schumacher's hot lap of N"urburgring in Mercedes F1 car

Fri, 31 May 2013

In advance of the Nürburgring 24-hour race last weekend, Mercedes-Benz put on a demonstration that had Michael Schumacher playing catch-up in a Formula One car against four examples of AMG metal. There were four cars sent off in staggered starts before Schumacher: an A45 AMG, E63 AMG 4Matic, SLS AMG Black Series, and an SLS AMG GT3 car. "Mr. Formula One," as the German television commentators call him, left three minutes after the SLS AMG GT3.
There are two videos of Schumacher's lap, the first is on-board footage - and even though there were several GoPros on the car the POV never cuts away from the front wing. You can hear the throttle and tell he's not pushing it, you can also tell how bumpy the track is. The second video is footage from the German Sport1 channel - with commentary in German - that shows all the cars taking off and takes the aerial view of proceedings. He looks to be going a lot faster in that one. You can compare and contrast yourself with the videos below.
Oh, and it's worth noting that, even with the likely restricted car, and the made-for-TV environment, Schumi turned in a quick lap. The nose camera shows the F1 car start to slow down on the back straight, near the start/finish line, right around the modern-length track record time of six minutes and eleven seconds.
