This 2005 offers outstanding performance with great looks. The 24-valve, 5.4-liter V-8 accelerates to a ripping 60 mph in 4.3 seconds and clearing the quarter in the 12s-precisely, 12.7 seconds at 111 mph-largely because of improved gearing, not just power. The AMG exterior styling is masculine but not over the top. Fuel economy is an "8" when compared against other V8 automobiles in this performance range but if you want 30 MPG buy a Civic. Shifts are smooth and unobtrusive, and despite having seven ratios available, it resists overshifting. Yet the gearbox is always ready to blast off, providing up to four gear kickdowns at a time. Stand on the throttle when cruising along at 70 mph in seventh gear, for example, and the transmission seamlessly downshifts to fourth gear and shoots the SLK forward. The car only has 29,000 thousand miles and has been garage kept and babied all its life; but if you prefer a 2013/14 be ready to lay down 80K. I'm offering this car at an extremely good price. This car has not even been broken in, I replaced all four tires last year and are still at 85%. 2014 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Edition 507 still lights our fire
Wed, 06 Mar 2013The current Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG may be in the autumn of its years, but it's still one of our very favorite sport sedans. Ever. Yes, its paddle-shift transmission may not always follow orders, but with stupendous levels of thrust from its charismatic naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V8, ebullient rear-wheel-drive dynamics and that noise, we frankly don't care that it's getting on a bit.
As a sendoff of sorts for the current generation, Mercedes-Benz has just introduced a new Edition 507 model at the Geneva Motor Show, with 507 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque - an increase of 56 horses over the standard car. Mercedes credits the substitution of low-mass internals from the SLS AMG gullwing for the power bump, a tactic shared with the AMG Development Package upgrade that has been subsumed by this Edition 507. 0-60 is quoted at 4.1 seconds and top speed at 174 mph.
The Edition 507 borrows its aluminum hood from the C63 AMG Black Series Coupe, along with spidery new 19-inch wheels in either titanium gray finish or matte black with shiny rim flanges. As seen on our gallery car above, a sports striping package is also featured, as are glossy black grille, daytime running lamps, spoiler and mirror caps.
2015 Mercedes C-Class order guide leaked
Wed, 23 Apr 2014We may not have an official starting price for the 2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class, but as of right now, we can tell you about all the options for the eagerly anticipated new luxury sedan.
Benz Report has the entire order guide for the C-Class, with breakdowns from package pricing to how many different colors, wheel designs and lighting configurations will be available when the new model hits dealers later this year. As we mentioned in our initial review of the C-Class, there will be a pair of engine options, with the now familiar 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder available in both rear- and all-wheel-drive configurations and a 3.0-liter, twin-turbocharged V6, which can be had in all-wheel drive, only.
From there, though, the available options are impressive. Much like it does on the current car, Mercedes is offering a pair of packages that sort of define the entire car. With the C300, buyers will have the choice of either a Sport or Luxury package in addition to the base trim, while C400 buyers are limited to the Sport model.
Mercedes dealers authorized to spend $2,500 on perks for S-Class customers
Mon, 02 Dec 2013If you drop $100,000 on a luxury sedan, it seems only reasonable to receive some preferential treatment at the dealership you purchased from. After all, that price isn't just for the car - you're paying for the brand and all the cachet that entails. For Mercedes-Benz, those benefits have apparently been lacking relative to the German brand's luxury competitors.
That's set to change, though, as Automotive News reports that the German brand is placing a much greater emphasis on keeping its customers happy and loyal with its MB Select program. Starting with the new S-Class and spreading to the CLA-Class (and eventually beyond), dealers are being given money - up to $2,500 in the case of the flagship sedan - just to improve the customer experience.
We agree, improving the "customer experience" is quite a vague term, so it's nice that Mercedes USA's CEO, Steve Cannon, offered up some examples to AN at the LA Auto Show. For example, a customer couldn't fit his sunglasses into the overhead compartment. "So we bought him a pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses that fit because of their shape," Cannon said.
