I'm selling my 1999 SL Mercedes convertible. I got a ride in the car when it was brand new! My best friend purchased the car new for his wife in 1999. They sold me the car in 2004 or 05 with around 10,000 miles on it. His wife hated it because it has such a sporty ride (AMG suspension and wheels). It doesn't float, this car grabs the road and has amazing power. I sold the car a couple years later to my lady friend in San Dimas, CA with approximately 14,000 miles on it. She had her hip replaced last year, and it was difficult for her to get in and out of it, so I bought it back in March with approximately 34,000 miles on it. I have enjoyed having it back, but I just bought a new car this week and need the room.
I have the original hard top, which is also in perfect condition and stored in my garage on a stand made to hold these hard tops. I will include it in the sale as well. I am happy to send photos of it to anyone that requests them. Sorry, I couldn't post a photo of the car with the hard top, but it takes 2 people to put it on. I also have the factory keys, 2 remote keys and a valet key.
The car has NEVER been smoked in, always garaged and hand washed. It has also only had Mobile 1 synthetic oil it's whole life.
The brakes are fairly recent, as are the tires. I recently had the mass air flow sensor replaced, and it has a new gas cap too. The mechanic that worked on it said the engine is perfect as are the motor mounts. My friend in California also had the AC compressor replaced. The AC works awesome, as does everything on this car.
There are no major cosmetic issues. There is some normal wear and tear on a car of its age including: 2 small paint chips around the area where the gas goes in, there is a crack and a scrape to the underside of the front bumper - caused from pulling too close to those concrete things in a parking lot and then backing out. I though about having that repaired, but frankly you cannot see it unless you're on the ground looking up. The floor mats are fairly new, dark brown color so they show no dirt. The leather is soft and supple, showing little if any sign of wear. The car is in overall fabulous condition. I can't imagine anyone being disappointed with it. This would be awesome for someone back east, as the car has never been driven in snow or ice and not even purposely in the rain! Although, I will admit it's been rained on twice that I know of.
I think I've covered everything, but if you have any questions, I'll be happy to assist in any way I can.
As far as shipping goes, the buyer will be responsible and I will cooperate and assist moving company. OR you can pick it up yourself if you like. I would be happy to pick you up at the airport and you can drive it home.
Serious buyers, please. Thank you. Certified funds only. PayPal deposit required.

Brabus 600 brings a dose of black subtlety to Frankfurt
Tue, Sep 15 2015The latest AMG-fettled C-Class from Mercedes-Benz is a wonderful thing. It's turbocharged heart may displace just 4.0 liters, but that forced-induction powerhouse spits out 503 ponies and 516 pound-feet of torque. That's enough to satisfy even the most power-mad compact luxury sedan junkie, right? Apparently not, as the Brabus 600 now exists in this world, and it just debuted at the 2016 Frankfurt Motor Show. As its name suggests, the turbocharged wick has been increased up to 600 horsepower (or 591 if you're not metric) and 590 lb-ft of torque. Shuttled through all four wheels via a seven-speed automatic transmission, that's enough gumption to push the Brabus 600 to 62 miles per hour in 3.8 seconds, which is a tenth quicker than the regular Mercedes-AMG C63 S sedan. Top speed nudges up from 180 mph to 186, or an even 300 kilometers per hour. Of course, this wouldn't be a proper Brabus if it didn't sport a bunch of body modifications, and the 600 doesn't disappoint. There are diffusers, spoilers, and wings galore in clear-coated carbon fiber with either a matte or shiny surface, depending on the buyer's preference. All of that looks pretty cool, but we're less smitten with the oversize fender outlets. Aluminum monoblock wheels measuring 20 inches in diameter and fitted with carbon accents round out the body kit. Inside, Brabus fits the 600 with a custom leather interior that can be tailored for each buyer. A new speedometer that goes to 340 kmh (211 mph), redesigned aluminum paddle shifters, and, of course, stainless steel scuff plates with a color-changing Brabus logo. Because who doesn't love subtlety? If you want to know more, there's a full press release down below. But what you really need to do is scroll through the image gallery above to take it all in. Enjoy. Related Video: World premiere at the IAA 2015 New from BRABUS: 600 horsepower, 800 Nm and 300 km/h for the Mercedes C 63S A rated power output of 441 kW / 600 HP (591 bhp). Mercedes S-Class Magic Body Control ad is clucking awesome
Tue, 24 Sep 2013This is a new ad from Mercedes-Benz. At no point does it show an automobile. Instead, it stars animals, but not the sort you might normally see in car commercial. This ad is all about chickens. It is bizarre, to say the least, with Diana Ross and the Supremes belting it out in the background, but it all kind of comes together when you realize just what Mercedes is hawking (yeah, pun intended).
It's for the manufacturer's Magic Body Control, found on the new S-Class. The system basically analyzes the road and prepares the suspension accordingly, leading to a ride that is, in the words of our own Chris Paukert "nothing short of spooky." You can read about it in our full review of the 2014 S550. Take a look below for the 53-second spot.
Race recap: 2015 British Grand Prix is a testament to timing
Mon, Jul 6 2015In front of his home crowd, Lewis Hamilton actually had to work for pole position at the British Formula One Grand Prix. The World Champion couldn't get on top of the setup for his Mercedes-AMG Petronas on Friday, lapping behind teammate Nico Rosberg and the two Ferraris. Come Saturday, after a few alterations and a whole lot of wing to clamp down on understeer, Hamilton returned to his regular program at the front, taking pole position by just over a tenth of a second from his teammate. Williams, thought to be headed for another stretch in the weeds a few races ago, showed its best strength all year. The Grove team got both cars on the second row and in front of the Ferraris, Felipe Massa qualifying ahead of teammate Valtteri Bottas, but they were eight and nine tenths behind the Mercedes'. Kimi Raikkonen out-qualified Ferrari teammate Sebastian Vettel for the second time this year, and only the first time in a straight-up battle with two healthy cars. But more than a second behind the two cars at the front, and with two nearly-impossible-to-pass Williams' in front, neither the Finn nor the German is happy with where they are. Daniil Kvyat claimed seventh, his side of the garage at Infiniti Red Bull Racing having got through the weekend to that point without a single complaint about their Renault power unit. Carlos Sainz, Jr. put a single Toro Rosso inside the top ten in eighth position, ahead of Nico Hulkenberg who did the same for Sahara Force India by slotting in ninth. The second Infiniti Red Bull driven by Daniel Ricciardo did have an unspecified engine complaint – his car kept "bleeding power" on the straights – but even so he managed to qualify tenth with his second-fastest lap. The stewards deleted his best lap because he ran three centimeters outside the track limits at Copse, an infraction that stung a few other drivers as well. Up in front, what would sting the Mercedes-AMG Petronas drivers the most was the start. That's when a dearth of grip struck both Hamilton and Rosberg, allowing Massa and Bottas to slide right up the middle between them and take the first two places. The leapfrogging was so surprising that it looked like the Mercedes drivers were giving the Williams drivers a head start. They diced through the first corners, Hamilton sliding past Bottas into second place halfway through the lap. And then the safety car reported for duty.
