1998 MERCEDES BENZ SL500 This vehicle has excellent original black paint that looks excellent (for the age), and an excellent accident free body, free from any damage. It has been in southern California its whole life, so the is absolutely NO rust anywhere. The leather interior is in very good to excellent condition (for the age). The soft top is a bit worn, but is leak free. The power top works excellently. The vehicle has 4 brand new Michelin Pilot tires with less than 1000 miles on them and the chrome wheels are in excellent condition. Everything is working well, including ice cold A/C. This vehicle is equipped with some options, that are very rare and found only in the SL600. ADAPTIVE DAMPING SYSTEM $4350 MULTI COUNTOURED SEATS $350 each HEATED SEATS $595 INTERGRATED CELL PHONE (outdated), but looks cool This vehicle has been dealer serviced with the last major service at 104215 miles. It runs and drives as new.
MINOR ISSUES... The latch that secures the upper part of the top has a leaky seal. It is only present when you open or close the top, it will drip a few drops of hydraulic fluid. The motor is working perfectly. There is an excellent youtube video showing how to replace the seals (very easy and inexpensive). One of the pre-set buttons on the stereo popped off and is missing. There is NO HARDTOP. Key unlocks and locks vehicle, however, when locked the drivers door doesn't lock, alarm will sound if door is opened when armed.
This vehicle will retain its value for many years, you will not be disappointed. It is an absolute joy to drive. It is a very tight driving vehicle and was close to $100k when sold new. This is the last year of the R129 SL500 before Chrysler merged. Most R129 enthusiast believe that the 1997 and 1998 models are the best made and most sought after. Please message me for more detailed information. Title is in hand. |

New Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe spied in revealing state of dress
Tue, 19 Feb 2013During a product briefing earlier this year, Mercedes-Benz told us that 2013 would be the "year of the S-Class." Makes sense, too, since the flagship Mercedes is so very close to finally showing its production-ready face. But the high-tech saloon isn't the only S-Class to talk about this year - quite the contrary. Seen here in decidedly revealing camouflage, the new S-Class Coupe will be joining its four-door compadre in the not-too-distant future, as well.
When it launches, the S-Class Coupe will officially do away with the CL-Class nomenclature. This doesn't come as a huge shock. After all, when the new E-Class coupe and convertible were launched, it officially marked the end of the long-running CLK-Class designation.
Thanks to the interesting camouflage seen here, we have a very good glimpse at how the S-Class Coupe will look when all of the molding and swirly paper are peeled off. Rakish body lines pulled from the CLS-Class meet a much more dynamic front fascia. Out back, there are horizontal taillamps rather than the vertical units used on the current car, and the whole package seems very svelte. Our spy photographer even posits that this will be "the best-looking car from Mercedes-Benz in ages."
Brabus spools up new 850 6.0 Biturbo Coupe
Wed, Mar 4 2015With a 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 cranking out 577 horsepower and 664 pound-feet of torque, the Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG Coupe is not the first vehicle we'd figure was in need of an upgrade. But the folks over at Brabus have evidently felt otherwise, bringing the 850 6.0 Biturbo Coupe to the Geneva Motor Show this year. Now the name might be slightly misleading, but not by much: the revving heart of this beast has been bored out to 5.9 liters and its output raised to 838 horsepower (by our standards). The modified engine also includes new turbochargers, breathing apparati and a remapped ECU to produce an even more prodigious 1,069 pound-feet of torque – although to keep the whole thing from going up in flames, Brabus has limited that last figure to 848 lb-ft. The top speed has been limited to "only" 217 miles per hour to keep the tires from melting, but it'll reach 62 mph from a standstill in just 3.5 seconds. That makes this bahn-stormer blisteringly fast, though the seven-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive system have been left largely unchanged. Naturally that's not the end of the story, as the Brabus 850 6.0 Biturbo Coupe also features a full new carbon-fiber aero kit, wheel options ranging from 18 inches to 22, a completely refitted interior and oh, so much more. Chances are you'll never see one sitting still, so you'll want to scope it out in the slideshow of live images from the floor of the Geneva Palexpo for a closer look. Related Video:
Mercedes-Benz SL snapped getting major facelift
Tue, Mar 17 2015With the new Mercedes-AMG GT leading the charge, it'd be all too easy to forget about the SL. But Benz hasn't, as you can see from these latest spy shots. Spotted undergoing testing in Germany, this heavily disguised prototype foreshadows the arrival of a heavily revised two-seater convertible. It's hard to tell much from the other side of the body cladding and camouflage, but it appears to be hiding a new front end – complete with slimmer headlights, reprofiled front bumper and more upright grille – as well as a new hood, rear bumper, exhaust tips and tail lamps. Unlike the last time we saw the new SL out testing, we can now see inside as well. Although the steering wheel and center console remain hidden from view, we can anticipate a bigger touchscreen display and other updates. And apparently an onboard winter hat, as well. Now in its sixth generation, the Sport Leicht may not be as sporty or as light as the original, but while others have come and gone, the SL remains a mainstay of the Mercedes-Benz lineup. The current model was introduced in 2012, and this update should keep it fresh on the boulevards of Beverly Hills, the French Riviera and Abu Dhabi for several more years to come. Related Video:
