Mercedes-benz: S-class S55 Amg on 2040-cars
Carey, Ohio, United States
THIS IS THE FINEST 2004 MERCEDES S55 AMG YOU WILL FIND ON EARTH -- ONLY 46K ORIGNAL MILES! -- I MEAN IT; THE FIRST PERSON THAT INVESTIGATES THIS S55 WILL BUY IT, ITS A COLLECTOR-QUALITY CAR BOTH COSMETICALLY AND MECHANICALLY. Its service history is also very strong, and its been a southern car since new so it looks fantastic. Those are the primary reasons to buy this particular car. This S55 is also highly optioned, and topped $123K MSRP in 2004 (original window sticker is included)! I have done everything needed to make it 110% ready to roll for its new owner. With 493HP, its like a warp drive for the highways of planet earth. This is a 2 owner S55 AMG with clean Carfax and Autocheck reports. No accidents, no paint or bodywork EVER; everything is original. This car lived in Tennessee and Naples, Florida since new and has never seen a winter! This S55 has an excellent and complete service history at authorized MB dealers. EVERYTHING this car needed was done with an open checkbook by the Mercedes dealer, and I have the service history to prove it. No skimping ever. Everything works, and has gone through multiple pre-purchase inspections. No stories -- Electrical 10 out of 10 - All lights, switches, radio, windows, wipers, seat and power mirrors work perfectly. Vacuum lock system, nav, remote keys, keyless go, interior lights all operating as they should. NO instrument cluster warnings, NO problems at all. -- -- The ABC system is operating properly with no leaks. The service history is excellent, and all documented at the MB dealer. The HVAC system is fast to respond, and operates perfectly with scalding hot heat and ice-cold A/C. Seat heaters and seat ventilation all working properly. Even the TPMS system, which NEVER works on Benzes of this age, is perfect! -- -- Mechanical 10 out of 10 - Engine starts, idles, runs, and revs to redline in every gear smooth and strong with all 493HP present and accounted for. Transmission is smooth yet very aggressive, and downshifts eagerly to catapult you into the next county. No abrupt engagement, just silky smooth shifts. She runs at high speed with no vibrations or noises. There are no leaks....NONE. -- -- This S55 has passed THREE inspections with flying colors. A pre-purchase overall inspection with cosmetic inspection (scored a 4.8 out of 5.0 which is incredible!) and test drive, a inspection, and a Benz specialist shop has gone over the car as well. She’s ready to roll. -- -- Engine is VERY strong and VERY eager to run, transmission smooth and ready to drop down two gears at your command to rocket you past slower traffic. Brakes are solid and pedal feel is firm. Suspension is tight like new, no worn tie rod ends, ball joints, struts, or anything else. Steering nicely weighted with no play in the box. ZERO leaks or noises. This car drives and handles like new. This S55 comes with all the books, tools, remote key, and line-list of EVERY SINGLE MB service visit since new, all the way back to day one! -- -- This S55 does not have any signs of wear, no rubber rot, no leaks, no ABC problems, no lukewarm A/C....NOTHING. Everything is in fantastic shape, and at only 39K miles, its not even close to broken in yet! -- -- Nits: A few tiny touched-up rock chips on the hood from being on the road for ten years, and a little curb rash to the bottom of the front bumper. A few minor scratches on the front and rear bumpers THAT’S IT! NOTHING ELSE! The car is as nice as you will EVER see for a 2004 S55. Please feel free to contact me

BMW expects China to pass US as its top market in 2013
Thu, 11 Jul 2013When you combine two billion citizens, 100 cities with more than a million inhabitants and an economy that's as unrestrained as Jim Cramer on an Adderall binge, China's explosive auto industry growth shouldn't be a huge surprise. Audi already lists the communist country as its largest market, while Mercedes-Benz is expecting it to be there in the next few years. Now, according to a report from Automotive News, BMW is expecting the People's Republic to overtake the United States in sales by the end of 2013.
We already discovered the extent that BMW is going to in establishing a dedicated Chinese stronghold, when we explored BMW's Shanghai-based DesignWorks studio ahead of April's Shanghai Motor Show. And while we argued that DesignWorks Shanghai hasn't really borne fruit, it isn't due to a lack of sales.
BMW China has seen a 16-percent jump in year-over-year sales, lead by a 28-percent gain in 5 Series sales. Part of BMW's growth strategy comes from an ever-expanding dealership network. Remember those 100 cities we mentioned with over one million people? According to Karsten Engel, CEO of BMW's Chinese operations, those 100-million-plus city dwellers don't have access to a premium dealership.
New Die Hard movie wrecked 132 cars in $11 million chase scene [w/video]
Sat, 16 Feb 2013It would seem the act of dying hard brings with it lots of wanton destruction of the four-wheeled kind. According to John Moore, director of A Good Day To Die Hard, starring Bruce Willis, There were 132 (cars) that could never be used again. Another 518 required a lot of work. And damn right there were some good cars there... That's the fun of it."
Please join us in one great big collective sigh. Done? Okay, let's continue.
"With Die Hard it's about how audacious the action is," says Moore. "So you have to drive over a Lamborghini. An actual one. And yes it hurts me. I'm a car fanatic." Yeah. Sounds like it hurt really bad... though not as bad as the final tally after all the carnage had been counted: "Someone showed me the numbers on the car chase and soup to nuts, you put it all together it was like an $11 million sequence."
New Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe spied in revealing state of dress
Tue, 19 Feb 2013During a product briefing earlier this year, Mercedes-Benz told us that 2013 would be the "year of the S-Class." Makes sense, too, since the flagship Mercedes is so very close to finally showing its production-ready face. But the high-tech saloon isn't the only S-Class to talk about this year - quite the contrary. Seen here in decidedly revealing camouflage, the new S-Class Coupe will be joining its four-door compadre in the not-too-distant future, as well.
When it launches, the S-Class Coupe will officially do away with the CL-Class nomenclature. This doesn't come as a huge shock. After all, when the new E-Class coupe and convertible were launched, it officially marked the end of the long-running CLK-Class designation.
Thanks to the interesting camouflage seen here, we have a very good glimpse at how the S-Class Coupe will look when all of the molding and swirly paper are peeled off. Rakish body lines pulled from the CLS-Class meet a much more dynamic front fascia. Out back, there are horizontal taillamps rather than the vertical units used on the current car, and the whole package seems very svelte. Our spy photographer even posits that this will be "the best-looking car from Mercedes-Benz in ages."
