For Auction is our personal 2002 Mercedes-Benz S500.  We purchased this car due to its spacious seating and wide opening doors as well as the low profile of the car.  Our young son has a physical disability and it allowed him to enter and exit the car easily when he was able to walk.  However, he now requires a wheelchair & handicap van for transportation.  The Mercedes now sits in the garage and is rarely driven, so we have chosen to sell.  I give this information simply because I always ask "Why are you selling the vehicle?" when purchasing a vehicle. While we hate to sell this beautiful vehicle, it has simply served its purpose for our family and is no longer what we need.  Listed below are many, but not all, of the amenities of this fabulous car:

  • White pearl exterior
  • Tan leather interior
  • AMG wheels 18"
  • Power everything. It's a high end Benz-too many to list individually.
  • Power sunroof.
  • Telescoping steering wheel.
  • Heated and cooled front seats with massage setting
  • Burlwood trim
  • Xeon headlights
  • 6 disc CD changer
  • Large screen for navigation, radio display, etc.
  • Radio/CD controls on steering column
  • Storage under center console
  • Storage in dash console with special storage area for insurance cards.
  • Small storage compartment below front passenger seat.
  • Soft close doors and trunk- no more slamming them!
  • Plenty of leg room for all passengers, both in front and rear seating.
  • Spacious rear seating.  Very comfortable for 3 adults.
  • Rear console folds up for seating or down for a shared armrest with cup holders.
  • 3 person memory setting on driver's seat
  • Rear seat power sunshade operated from the front console.
  • All books and manuals
  • One other small note for ladies that may be considering purchasing:  I am very petite (5' tall) and always worry about being able to see out of any vehicle without having to deal with large or numerous blind spots.  I absolutely love driving this car and have never had any difficulty with seat adjustments or blind spots in this car.

I recently had the Mercedes serviced (synthetic) oil and filter, new ceramic brake pads front & rear,  tires have 95% tread left were replaced 8-9 thousand miles ago.   No drips, leaks or mechanical issues.  This is the top of the line Mercedes and if you have gotten this far, you know this car sold new for over $100,000.00.  When I bought the car I had it extensively examined and no problems were discovered. NONE. This car does not have any warranty implied or given, however the buyer will not be disappointed.

As with any auction, please ask any questions prior to bidding.  I will gladly answer any questions you may have about the car.  Additionally, if you would like additional (specific) pictures, I will gladly provide them.  Serious inquiries only, please.

Artist imagines eerie world where cars have no wheels

Thu, 24 Jan 2013

The wheel ranks right up there with the telescope and four-slice toaster in the pantheon of inventions that have moved humankind forward. But what if a circle in three dimensions had never occurred to anyone, and we all had just moved on without it? Perhaps we'd be driving around in Lucas Motors Landspeeders with anti-gravity engines. Or maybe we'd have the same cars we do today, just without wheels.
That's the thought experiment that seems to have led French photographer Renaud Marion to create his six-image series called Air Drive. The shots depict cars throughout many eras of motoring that look normal except for one thing: they have no wheels. The models used include a Jaguar XK120, Cadillac DeVille (shown above), Chevrolet El Camino and Camaro, and Mercedes-Benz SL and 300 roadsters.
Perhaps one day when our future becomes our past, you'll be able to walk the street and see with your own eyes the rust and patina of age on our nation's fleet of floating cars. Until then, Monsieur Marion's photographs will have to do.

Mercedes-Benz GLK coupe to get 2016 intro

Wed, 23 Jan 2013

Radio chatter around the emerging small, premium crossover coupe genre has thus far been dominated by the Land Rover Evoque and the Mini Paceman. According to a report in Car, the Mercedes-Benz GLK-Class (shown above) has received its invitation to the party and will spend the next three years getting ready: it's said that two-door variant of the crisply-angled CUV is coming in 2016, along with a redesign befitting its sleeker intentions.
To be based on the MRA platform - the rear-drive version of the company's three new modular platforms, it will also support the coming 2013 S-Class and could eventually get an AMG version to help it compete with segment offerings like the forthcoming Porsche Macan. Not much else is known about it beyond its name: Car says it will be called the GLC, a friendly nomenclature we remember best as a Mazda hatchback (allegedly for "Good Little Car"). Internet oldtimers may remember the Mazda GLC as the predecessor to the 323 (which in turn came before today's Mazda3). Either way, the GLC is not to be confused with the larger upcoming BMW X6 rival based on the ML-Class (reportedly called GLS) which is also said to still be in the works, or the front-drive based GLA, a model also edging toward production.

First official shot of Mercedes S-Class Coupe leaks out

Mon, 10 Feb 2014

With the official debut for the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe expected tomorrow, it shouldn't be a surprise that some clicky fingers have already managed to uncover an official image of the car before the unveiling. Outside of this sole image, though, there's precious little detail on the new car.
First posted by Autofilou and then picked up by WorldCarFans, the production S-Class Coupe isn't far off from the concept car we saw a few months back in Frankfurt. Like the concept, the leggy production model appears related, albeit distantly, to the S-Class Sedan. The hood and front fascia are longer and lower, befitting of a two-door, while the character lines in the profile are more pronounced. Obviously, the beltline and slim, B-pillarless greenhouse are coupe-only items. We can't see any details on the back of the car, although it does appear that the long hood has a correspondingly short rear deck.
We'll have all the details on the official replacement for the CL-Class when it makes its full debut tomorrow. Until then, what do you think of this lone image? Does it appear that Mercedes has got it right? In terms of design, where would you rank this with the departing CL-Class? Have your say in Comments.
