Up for grabs is a 2001 Mercedes S500 with clean title. It starts without a hiccup, drives smooth and transmission auto-shifts like butter.
- The Radio/Navigation is not coming on anymore (since battery replacement earlier in September). It may be something as little as a burnt-out fuse or loose wire(s) in the back. A Mercedes service advisor stated over the phone that the system needs to be reset after the installation of the new battery. In the worst case scenario, original replacement units are available on eBay for under $170, or you may buy an awesome after market touchscreen unit with iPad connection, Bluetooth, CD/DVD/MP3, 2D and 3D GPS navigation, steering wheel control, AUX, SD and USB options for under $660. That's if the problem is a lot more than a fuse or reset.
- Cracked/broken plastic-trim on the driver seat (as shown in one of the images). It does NOT affect the functionality and/or movement of the seat; the seat moves in all directions with the directional controls. You may get a replacement trim from a junk-yard for next to nothing (perhaps $50), if it becomes an eyesore ;-)
- Scratches/scuffing on the front and rear bumpers (as shown in images)
- Scratch below the passenger door (as shown in two images)
- Missing Mercedes emblem on rear passenger wheel (costs approx $20)
- Needs new wipers (costs approx $30)
- The car was professionally detailed recently in September (and the carpets are still in the trunk)
- The battery was replaced earlier in September
- The overall exterior (with the exception of scratches mentioned above) and the interior (except driver seat trim) are very good for the age of the vehicle
- The value of this car, according to Kelley Blue Book (KBB), is:
- $8,692 Retail Excellent Condition
- $6,967 Private Party Excellent Condition
- $6,617 Private Party Very Good Condition
- $6,382 Private Party Good Condition
- Depending on the level of how picky one is, most would rate this car as in a very good to excellent condition

Mercedes-Petronas AMG W04 launched to little fanfare, lots of pressure [w/video]
Tue, 05 Feb 2013No indoor cocktail hour for the launch of the W04, the newest chassis built by the Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One team. Instead, Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton spent a morning in photo and video sessions at the track in Jerez, Spain then paused a moment to introduce the car. The team will want the W04 to demonstrate the World Championship credentials of the team personnel and one of the team drivers, instead of the mostly humble performances we've seen over the past three years.
The W04 has been fitted with a new five-element front wing, pushrod front and pull-rod rear suspension, a second-generation Coanda exhaust and an "aggressively packaged" rear end. A small vanity panel, à la Infiniti Red Bull's RB9, covers the stepped nose.
Team principal Ross Brawn has called it "a clear step forward in design and detail sophistication," but as much as we truly respect Brawn's abilities and achievements, we heard him say similar things about the updated W03 last year before almost every race weekend from about mid-season. We really hope he's right this time, and so does the team's newest driver, Lewis Hamilton. We'll do our best to ignore the parallels of the Mercedes F1 team having signed a sponsorship deal with Blackberry, another company trying to find its way back to the top and still struggling, and just point you to the video below of the W04 in action.
Mercedes-AMG GT attacks Circuit of the Americas
Fri, 12 Sep 2014Mercedes-Benz is having a banner year with its Formula One team. Through 2014, the constructor has 454 championship points; ahead of its nearest competitor (Red Bull-Renault) by a margin of 182 tally marks. We're sure they can almost taste the champagne.
It's fitting then, and a little big cocky in a good way, that Mercedes has released a video of its newest sports car at an F1 venue. In this case, the car is the lovely Mercedes-AMG GT S, and the racetrack is Austin's Circuit of the Americas.
Having seen the official photo set and scratched the surface of the technical specifications earlier this week, we're excited to finally hear the thing run. As you might guess, the deployment of 503 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque from the twin-turbo V8 is a motivating experience. Crank up your volume, and hit that play button. (Oh, and Mercedes shot the thing in 4K, too, so those of you with expensive televisions/monitors should take heed to the settings.)
2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class caught totally undisguised
Mon, 18 Mar 2013Based on the lightly camouflaged spy shots of the 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class we've seen lately, it hasn't taken a vivid imagination to picture what the next iteration of this big luxury sedan will look like. Even so, we now we have our first unobstructed views of the redesigned S-Class, codenamed W222, as it has just been caught out flaunting for some promo shots.
The first thing we notice about the new S-Class design is the disappearance of the last generation's flared wheel arches. Yet the new design adds even more character with bodyside creases similar to the CLS-Class and some elements reminiscent of 2007's F700 Concept, including the massive grille and vertical LED taillights. Other key details include a large panoramic roof and the narrow exhaust outlets, but the large LED-trimmed headlights and the aggressive front fascia are probably the biggest departure from the current design. With these spy shots, we also catch a blurry shot of the interior, but we've seen a practically uncovered look at the new S-Class' cabin back in January.
Overall, the next S-Class sports an expressive and premium new look, but as far as all-new designs go, it's quite conservative - a move no doubt fitting for these lean financial times.
