For sale is my personal 1988 Mercedes-Benz 420SEL w126 bodystyle. I want to first start by listing the recent work I've done to the vehicle. I've put close to $6,000.00 into repairs on this car through Mercedes Benz of Fairfield in Fairfield, CT. My intentions were to restore the car to perfect condition but I simply do not have the time or resources to do so. I have receipts for all work performed and will leave the folder of receipts in the vehicle for the next owner.

I've also replaced the fog light covers with OEM BOSCH light covers (seen in photos) and engine air filter has been replaced, new wipers, and vehicle has had leather conditioned once every other month. It has been garaged for the time I've owned it up until recently, it's been kept in the driveway. This car is by no means in great shape but I've invested a lot of time and money into this vehicle and if someone puts a little more effort into it, this will be a beautiful vehicle.

Also included in the sale are both front left/right replacement fenders that are rust free from Arizona to replace the rusted ones it currently has. Also included is replacement chrome for the tops of the front & rear bumpers in great shape.

Cons: The blinker light/wiper speed/high beam shifter on the steering wheel column recently started to give out, it still works but it will need to be replaced. Also, the left headlight has a loose connection, so you occasionally need to unplug the headlight and plug it back in to get the headlights to work. I've been driving the vehicle like this for over a month and I've found it to work just fine after unplugging & replugging in the headlights. You will notice one headlight will go dim and thats when you need to do this. They will usually work fine for about a week or two before you need to unplug them. Also, the vehicle does have rust, I've tried to get it in the photos. The car looks great from 10 feet away but up close you can see it. The paint is also faded in spots on the hood & roof (typical with the w126 vehicles) I've got the replacement fenders and chrome, if you were to repaint the car it would look amazing.

*This is my daily driver for the next week, the mileage will be around 214k-215k. I am replacing the car Friday 7/12/13 with a new Mercedes, at that time I will not drive the vehicle until it's sold. If you would like to take a look at the vehicle before bidding, please contact me and we can arrange a showing.

DO NOT BID IF YOU ARE NOT SERIOUS ABOUT PURCHASING MY MERCEDES. ASK ANY QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE BEFORE PLACING YOUR BID. THANK YOU.

Buyer is responsible for shipping of the vehicle. I WILL NOT SHIP THE CAR. You MUST arrange for your own shipment of the vehicle or pick it up in person. Car is located in Fairfield, CT. I can meet you with the vehicle within 100 miles of Fairfield, CT. $1,000.00 NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT DUE WITHIN 48-HOURS OF AUCTION END; FULL PAYMENT DUE WITHIN 7 DAYS OF AUCTION END. If you do not pay the deposit I will cancel your bid and the car will be relisted.

Please contact me with any questions you have on the vehicle or if you need more photos of a particular angle of the car. I will do my best to accurately describe the car. Again this is a 25 year old Mercedes and it does have its normal wear and tear but I've invested over $5,000.00 into the car since March. The new parts alone are worth what I am asking for the vehicle.

Aston Martin and Daimler continue talks on SUV project, CEO required

Tue, 01 Apr 2014

The Aston Martin Lagonda SUV concept revealed at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show didn't earn the plaudits the company is used to when it reveals new models, and it has lived an uncertain life ever since. Thought to have been scrapped along with the entire revival of the Lagonda brand, then thought to have been resurrected due to Chinese, Middle Eastern and Russian demand, another year passed before we heard more definitive talk about an Aston Martin expansion when AutoCar reported that the Lagonda could be built on one of Mercedes-Benz's AMG SUV platforms.
A report in Automotive News Europe indicates plans have gotten serious, its unnamed sources saying that the English carmaker is talking to Daimler "to extend their cooperation to building an SUV." Neither Daimler, Aston Martin nor Investindustrial, the managing partner among Aston Martin's ownership consortium, would comment. But with Investindustrial having pledged to expand the range, competitors like Bentley, Maserati and Lamborghini getting into the SUV racket and clear demand from current and future customers, it's easy to believe Aston Martin is working hard to put the pieces together.
One further potential bump on the road to an Aston SUV is the company's search for a new CEO. Ulrich Bez relinquished to top spot at the company at the end of 2013, and Aston reportedly will not finalize its model strategy without a new CEO in place.

How could a lifted Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG be more awesome? Add an axle

Fri, 01 Mar 2013

We are fully confident in saying that this will be the most amazing thing you see all day. First of all, it's a Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen - in AMG spec, no less. And it's being shown off in high-definition video glory, blasting through the desert, jumping over sand dunes, and generally being awesome. But here's the kicker: It has six wheels. Three axles. And they're all driven. Holy $%!#.
Under the hood is AMG's usual 5.5-liter twin-turbocharged V8, and total output is rated at 536 horsepower and 560 pound-feet of torque. That's impressive and all, but do keep in mind that the G63 6x6 weighs in at 8,322 pounds or, you know, the weight of two E-Class sedans. Combine that with its 18 inches of ground clearance, 37-inch tires and five locking differentials and you've got a vehicle capable of, well, everything you've ever imagined or will ever imagine for the rest of your life.
But the goodness doesn't stop once you open the doors. Oh, no. This thing is fit for a king - or a sheik, more appropriately - with ultimately luxurious seating for four. The rear bench seat has been removed in favor of two bucket seats with a fixed console in the middle, and the rear seats have been moved back beyond the usual B pillar to allow for more legroom.

Watch Schumacher's hot lap of N"urburgring in Mercedes F1 car

Fri, 31 May 2013

In advance of the Nürburgring 24-hour race last weekend, Mercedes-Benz put on a demonstration that had Michael Schumacher playing catch-up in a Formula One car against four examples of AMG metal. There were four cars sent off in staggered starts before Schumacher: an A45 AMG, E63 AMG 4Matic, SLS AMG Black Series, and an SLS AMG GT3 car. "Mr. Formula One," as the German television commentators call him, left three minutes after the SLS AMG GT3.
There are two videos of Schumacher's lap, the first is on-board footage - and even though there were several GoPros on the car the POV never cuts away from the front wing. You can hear the throttle and tell he's not pushing it, you can also tell how bumpy the track is. The second video is footage from the German Sport1 channel - with commentary in German - that shows all the cars taking off and takes the aerial view of proceedings. He looks to be going a lot faster in that one. You can compare and contrast yourself with the videos below.
Oh, and it's worth noting that, even with the likely restricted car, and the made-for-TV environment, Schumi turned in a quick lap. The nose camera shows the F1 car start to slow down on the back straight, near the start/finish line, right around the modern-length track record time of six minutes and eleven seconds.
