1983 Mercedes Benz 380 Sec. One Owner. Very Low Miles. on 2040-cars

Year:1983 Mileage:50950
Location:

Gladwyne, Pennsylvania, United States

This car has lived its entire life on the Main Line, the exclusive suburbs of Philadelphia, Pa. I found it while completing home repairs at the owners estate. There it was, parked by itself in the 3 car, carriage style garage. It had been driven approximately 100 miles in the last two years. My customer was the original owner. She told me, the car was purchased new by her at Keenan Motors of Philadelphia, Pa. The car has 50,950 miles. The car is dark blue, I think it is "Capri Blue" and is 100% original paint. The car has been professionally buffed and still the paint is very respectable. There is zero rust!  The drivers side, the front and the rear panels are as straight as an arrow. The passenger side has a 12" scratch on the rear quarter that is through the clear coat, but not into the metal. There are a few dings on the passenger side caused by the owners SUV, she parked it on the right side of this car in the garage. The car lived in the same garage for 30 years. Never seen snow or foul weather. The interior is light brown leather and also in very good condition. There is a small pencil eraser sized hole through the leather at the top of the drivers side door panel. The wood veneer on the lid of the glove box is coming away, needs to be reglued. Other then those two items the interior is in very good condition. The carpets along with the trunk carpet are in good condition. The car has never been smoked in. Upon my purchase of the car, I took it to a professional Mercedes Mechanic. They installed a new battery, spark plugs, wires, and cap along with a tune up. They converted the Air Conditioner to the modern refrigerant. They completed a PA State Inspection. The car runs, drives and handles excellant. Everything works! There is a 1980's era cell phone installed between the seats with an antenna  mounted in the middle of the trunk deck lid. The inside the trunk is as new. The Original Miclelin spare tire has never been on the car. There is no warranty being offered with the sale of this car. The car is also being advertised locally, so I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. I can help the buyer with arranging shipping if need be. If the car sells, I expect full payment to be made to me by certified or bank check within seven days. When check clears, car can be shipped. Please contact me with any questions. Thanks for looking at my car.

Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG shows up to fight the hottest hatches [w/videos]

Wed, 13 Feb 2013

Fun coincidence. On the same day that Audi announces the unveiling of its new S3 Sportback at the Geneva Motor Show, Mercedes-Benz steals the spotlight by confirming that the all-new A45 AMG will also receive its official debut early next month. Starting life as the entry-level A-Class hatchback, the A45 AMG gets the full AMG treatment, which includes numerous performance, handling and styling upgrades.
Under the hood sits an AMG-tuned 2.0-liter turbocharged I4 breathing through a sport exhaust system helping the five-door produce 360 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque. This engine is paired to a seven-speed AMG dual-clutch transmission and power is sent to the ground using 4Matic all-wheel drive. Mercedes-Benz says that the A45 AMG will be able to accelerate from 0-60 miles per hour in under 4.5 seconds and it will have a top speed of 155 mph; in the land of hot hatches, it doesn't get much hotter than that. For added performance and handling, AMG has retuned the A-Class' suspension and steering systems and equipped The A45 with a three-stage stability control system that is specific to this car.
Surprisingly, the exterior styling of the A-Class was already sporty enough that the new model doesn't receive too many changes to become the A45 AMG. The biggest alterations include black accents to the chin spoiler, rocker panels and mirror caps, black wheels with red-painted brake calipers and rectangular dual exhaust outlets. Inside, it doesn't take a trained eye to spot the differences. The flat-bottomed sport steering wheel and the numerous red accents throughout the cabin (including the seatbelts!) really help to make this AMG interior stand out; front passengers will also get sport bucket seats that appear to be more than supportive enough for even the most spirited driving conditions.

Next Mercedes-Benz GLK to get AMG variant? Not likely...

Fri, 15 Mar 2013

If you think Mercedes-Benz will slap an AMG badge on anything with wheels, think again. Word has it the German manufacturer will not offer buyers a performance version of the GLK, with Tobias Moers, director of AMG vehicle development, saying that he doesn't see a market for the car. That's not to say the picture won't change in the near future, however. According to CarAdvice.com, AMG is keeping a close eye on the arrival of the Porsche Macan.
"Maybe there will be a change in the market when the Porsche [Macan] comes up," Moers said, "but right now, no."
The real hitch in the giddy-up seems to be cost. Moers says developing the machine into something worthy of an AMG would represent "a huge investment." We can't exactly argue with that. Fortunately, AMG buyers have plenty of Mercedes-Benz models to choose from.

Mercedes FWD platform to last until 2018, convertible and two-seater future uncertain

Mon, 22 Jul 2013

Mercedes-Benz seems to be expecting a lot of success from its front-wheel-drive CLA-Class. Automotive News is reporting that the sub-C-Class sedan could grow when its second generation arrives in 2018.
The current FWD platform for MB underpins the CLA, the B-Class, the GLA-Class, and the A-Class. The B-Class will arrive in North America as an EV for spring of 2014, while the production GLA crossover will arrive three to four months after that. The five-door A-Class won't be crossing The Pond. Sad faces all around.
According to AN, another model will be based on the front-drive architecture, but it won't be coming to the US market. Set to arrive next year, rumors are that it'll be a wagon version of the CLA, sort of like the ill-named five-door CLS Shooting Brake that is also a Europe-only item.
