There are some minor scratches, most visible on the front driver's side fender as shown in the photo. Also, the rear bumper appears to have been patched, which is visible up close (also shown in a photo). There is a very minor chip on the passenger's side of the windshield. Mechanically, the only flaw that I am aware of is that the fuel gauge sometimes sticks. It works correctly most of the time. To be on the safe side, I have learned to monitor my mileage between fill-ups rather than rely on the gauge."

This auction is for a 2001 Mercedes-Benz ML320 in excellent condition for its age. It has a very clean interior and is mechanically sound. I bought the car pre-owned and have used it as my daily driver since March 2012. The SUV handles wonderfully in snow, ice and heavy rain, thanks to its full time AWD system. The original mileage of 92,041 breaks down to less than 8,000 miles per year. This vehicle seems to have been gently used throughout its life. It runs well and rides comfortably. It should provide many more years of reliable enjoyment.

Since I have owned the vehicle, I have had the following mechanical work completed:
- replaced the Master Cylinder
- replaced the Power Steering Pump
- rebuilt the Power Steering Column
- completed a full tune-up

I have been told that the Power Steering systems are notorious for failing in later-model MLs. This one has been taken care of and should be worry-free for years to come.

The only flaws that I am aware of are as follows:

There are some minor scratches and dings, most visible on the front driver's side fender as shown in one of my photos. The rear bumper appears to have been patched, which is visible up close (also shown in a photo). There is also a minor chip in the passenger's side of the windshield. Mechanically, the only flaw that I am aware of is that the fuel gauge sometimes sticks. It works correctly most of the time. To be on the safe side, I have learned to monitor my mileage between fill-ups rather than rely on the gauge.

I have tried to be as honest as possible in the vehicle description, but please be aware that I am not a car expert and cannot be held responsible for any additional flaws that may be discovered by the buyer. The vehicle is over twelve years old and does not include any type of warranty.

The winning bidder will be considered to have made a final purchase and must pay for the vehicle in full prior to pickup. The vehicle must be picked up by the buyer or the buyer must arrange for a pickup service. No delivery will be provided. The following payment options will be accepted: cash, certified check and PayPal.

The vehicle is located in Clifton, NJ, which is easily accessible via Garden State Parkway, Route 80, Route 3 or Route 46.

Please feel free to e-mail me with any questions.

Good luck and happy bidding!

UK workers strand car on island of asphalt to keep working

Wed, 06 Feb 2013

Generally speaking, when you illegally park your car, you're likely to get ticketed and towed, but there is probably at least one motorist in Scotland who wishes that was the case. After workers had blocked off a portion of the parking lot for the Edinburgh Waverley railway station, the driver of this Mercedes-Benz S-Class reportedly moved some of the barriers to park in one of the empty spots.
Rather than having the vehicle towed, the work crew simply tore up the asphalt around the leaving just the one parking spot intact, and as you can see in the image above (posted to the Twitter account of Harold Norstad), the crew even built a small asphalt ramp so the car could get off its blacktop pedestal. Since this happened last week, there's no word as to whether the car was eventually moved or towed for the resurfacing work to continue.
Let this be a warning...

Next Mercedes-Benz C-Class spotted in the snow

Mon, 11 Mar 2013

The entry-level Mercedes-Benz C-Class has long felt like nothing more than, well, just that. Aside from the potent and delicious C63 AMG models, there hasn't been much to set the C-Class apart in the entry-level luxury/sport segment, leading to the model being regarded by many as "The Cheap Mercedes." No, it's certainly not a bad car, but for our money, it hasn't stood up particularly well to competitors like the BMW 3 Series or Audi A4.
So with the handsome new CLA-Class coming to round off the entry-level end for Mercedes-Benz, big plans are in store for the C-Class. We can see some evidence of that in this latest set of spy shots from our friends at CarPix. According to earlier reports, the new C-Class will be "far more dramatic" in the visuals department, and while the sedan's sculpting is still covered by camo, the much sleeker headlamp design we see here is, at the very least, a good start. The car's overall size is expected to grow a bit to further distance itself from the CLA, though thanks to lightweight materials, curb weight isn't expected to increase.
Just like the current model, the new C-Class is expected to use four- and six-cylinder engines, both gas- and diesel-fed, and overall power output for the global engine range should span from 120-ish on the low end to as much as 330. These new engines are expected to be mounted lower and farther rearward than before, offering better balance for both rear- and 4Matic all-wheel drive configurations. And as for that AMG? Rumors suggest a turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 will fall underhood.

BMW expects China to pass US as its top market in 2013

Thu, 11 Jul 2013

When you combine two billion citizens, 100 cities with more than a million inhabitants and an economy that's as unrestrained as Jim Cramer on an Adderall binge, China's explosive auto industry growth shouldn't be a huge surprise. Audi already lists the communist country as its largest market, while Mercedes-Benz is expecting it to be there in the next few years. Now, according to a report from Automotive News, BMW is expecting the People's Republic to overtake the United States in sales by the end of 2013.
We already discovered the extent that BMW is going to in establishing a dedicated Chinese stronghold, when we explored BMW's Shanghai-based DesignWorks studio ahead of April's Shanghai Motor Show. And while we argued that DesignWorks Shanghai hasn't really borne fruit, it isn't due to a lack of sales.
BMW China has seen a 16-percent jump in year-over-year sales, lead by a 28-percent gain in 5 Series sales. Part of BMW's growth strategy comes from an ever-expanding dealership network. Remember those 100 cities we mentioned with over one million people? According to Karsten Engel, CEO of BMW's Chinese operations, those 100-million-plus city dwellers don't have access to a premium dealership.
