Mercedes 280te Amg Euro on 2040-cars

Very rare Mercedes 280TE with a bunch of period correct AMG bits. This car has been kicking around various sales forums for years. I bought it this year with the intention of restoring it but a long commute each day has made that unrealistic. The car runs, shifts, and drives but it needs a restoration and I would not trust it on any type of trip. It was a California car for almost all of its life and consequently, for a W123, has almost no rust. There is some on one door edge and very slight at the passenger side rear wheel well. Otherwise, it is remarkably rust free. The car was imported to CA in 1984 and have some paperwork for that period. At the time that it was imported, someone put in a high end sound system and it is all still there. The car also has a leather headliner [!] and leather seats. the rear seat is salvageable but the fronts need a recover. It has an AMG steering wheel and AMG side skirts. The front airdam was gone before I got the car; similarly, the Rial wheels in the car are gone but it now sits on Bundt wheels. This is a great restoration project that I wish I had the time for...of course, being that it is a grey market car, Ebay won't accept the VIN which is: WDB12309310011013

2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class lineup shows its freshened face
Mon, 14 Jan 2013Mercedes-Benz showed us its redesigned 2014 E-Class more than a month ago, but the Detroit Auto Show finally gave us a chance to see the full family of mid-size luxury cars and wagons in the flesh. Dieter Zetsche introduced the cars, including sedan, coupe, convertible and station wagon, on stage showing the stylish new design direction.
The wagon and sedan versions (shown as the E400 Hybrid above) will go on sale this spring, while the coupe and cabriolet will hit showrooms over the summer. Check our new gallery of live shots for the entire 2014 E-Class lineup, as well as the previously released press release below.
Firing of M-B boss upheld
Mon, 15 Jul 2013Ernst Lieb, the disgraced former CEO of American operations for Mercedes-Benz, will not be getting any more money from the Silver Arrow'd teat. His wrongful dismissal suit against MB's parent company, Daimler, was tossed out of a German appeals panel. This, followed the initial rejection by a lower court last year.
According to court documents acquired by Automotive News, Lieb was found to have "accepted payments of substantial value to which he - as he was aware - had no claim."
Lieb took over American operations from former CEO Paul Halata in September of 2006. Reports surfaced in October of 2011 that Lieb was dismissed from his posting at MB, with a variety of rumors swirling. Eventually, news broke that financial wrong doing was responsible for the German's firing.
Mercedes considering GLA-based crossover coupe
Wed, 30 Apr 2014BMW opened a whole Pandora's Box when it introduced the X6 back in 2008. Sure it made little sense, sacrificing all that "utility" for a little more "sport," but it's been a solid success for BMW - especially considering the nominal expense it cost to develop the X6 on top of the X5 on which it's based. Little wonder that, while BMW has already followed up with a smaller version in the form of the X4, other automakers are starting to catch up. And that includes Mercedes-Benz.
The German automaker is preparing to launch a new MLC, based on the M-Class but with a sportier silhouette, and previewed it with the Concept Coupe SUV at the Beijing Motor Show. But that's just the start, according to the latest report from Automotive News Europe.
Mercedes is reportedly considering spinning off an entire line of crossovers more for use on the road than off it. Which may go without saying for most crossovers on the market, but considering the Geländwagen with which Mercedes got its start in SUVs, would mean an even further departure than it has undertaken already.
