Hello and thank you for looking at my auction.  Up for bid we have a very nice and well maintained 1994 Mercedes-Benz E320 Convertible, finished in its original colors of Smoke Silver over tan leather with a complimenting brown convertible top.  This car was originally sold in North Carolina, and stayed there until April of 2011 when it was purchased by us.  The car is located on Long Island, NY and has been garage kept exclusively during its time here.  It is regularly started and driven, and has only accumulated 4000 miles in the 2 years of our ownership, with long distance trips being the most driving; this car has been driven to New York from Florida without a hiccup, and I would not hesitate to drive this car anywhere in the country...it really does perform that well.

These E320 Convertibles were built for 3 years, 1993-1995 (called the 300E in '93, and E320 after), and are some of the last truly hand-built Mercedes-Benz automobiles.  Very expensive in its time, this car was over $77,000 when it was new.  The high price of these classics put them on par with the SL roadster, and thus, not many were sold.  However, the E320 is a true 4 seat convertible, whereas the SL was strictly a  2 seater, allowing you to take the family with you on those beautiful top down drives.  This makes these cars somewhat of a rarity, and I'm willing to bet these will be highly sought-after as the years go on.

This particular example comes complete with almost everything it was sold with new, including both keys, full set of books, and 2 (yes, two!) original window stickers.  Also included is the press release from 1994 detailing all models, and a print out from Mercedes-Benz Classic Center confirming its original options.  It is very well equipped, as you would expect from a top line Mercedes-Benz of this era.  Fitted with the original, near bulletproof 3.2 liter DOHC inline 6 cylinder, it also returns surprisingly good gas mileage, well over 20MPG on the highways.  It runs flawlessly, and is really a pleasure to drive, very smooth on the road as well.  All of the features of the car work as they should, from ice cold A/C to the radio, and even the factory clock.  Starts and goes every time its asked to.

As with all used cars, and certainly with 20 year olds, there are some minor quirks about it.  There is some trim inside the car that has, with age, cracked.  These include the trim around both convertible latches, slight stress cracks in the wood trim, a missing dome light cover, and some other plastic pieces that have cracked with age.  None of these have any affect on the performance of the vehicle, all are cosmetic and can be fixed.  Surprisingly, a lot of the parts are still available through Mercedes-Benz USA.  The paint is very nice overall, although there are some spots that have developed a light grain to them.  This is from the age of the clear coat, and is mostly on the trunk lid.  The interior is extremely clean, as is under the hood and underneath.  If the weather is cold, there is a very slight tick until she is fully warmed up, but again, this does not affect performance at all.  Lastly, again if its colder out, the top occasionally needs some help in moving...however, most of the time, it works as it should.

Please take the time to check out all the photos.  A deposit of $500 is due within 3 days of the end of the auction via Paypal, with the balance due upon pickup in the form of cash or bank check.  Sorry, no personal checks will be accepted.  I will try to assist in shipping if need be.  I have tried to describe this car as accurately as I can, I have sold cars on here before and I believe honestly is the best policy...I want you to be as happy with it as I have been.  If there is anything you would like to know that I may have missed, please do not hesitate to send me a message.  Thank you again for looking, and good luck!!

New Mercedes Unimog debuts to the cheers of little boys everywhere [w/video]

Sat, 27 Apr 2013

The Mercedes Unimog, the superhero villain of the off-road world that's just waiting to make the jump to Transformer, has been completely upgraded for its new generation. There are ten models, expanding the range and getting new designations across the traditional all-terrain series and the implement-carrier series. Panoramic cabins get more visibility, multifunction steering wheels and better dash clusters, improved HVAC and a three-mode central tire inflation system. Outside, there are new items like LED headlights and daytime running lamps in the bumper, roof-mounted windshield wipers and a front-camera monitor for the implement carrier.
The new engine lineup is compliant with Euro VI, featuring four- and six-cylinder BlueEfficiency engines putting out anywhere from 156 horsepower to 354 hp. Powerplant placement has also been tweaked, the chassis members getting a revised curve to place the engine a bit further back and lower, maintaining off-road clearance and lowering the Unimog's center of gravity. The new location of the engine means the cabin has more room, and the wheelbase is shorter. Combined with a higher turning angle, the Unimog has a smaller turning radius than before.
The implement carrier gets what's called a "synergistic traveling drive," the bonus being that drivers don't need to stop in order to use an attachment - a hydrostatic transmission works with the regular manual transmission at up to 31 kilometers per hour for seamless switching.

Mercedes takes VW Westfalia Camper idea upscale with new Marco Polo

Wed, 09 Jul 2014

Earlier this year, Mercedes-Benz revealed the new V-Class. Slotting in below the popular Sprinter, the new V-Class replaced both the Viano and Vito upon its debut at the Geneva Motor Show. But Mercedes isn't quite done with it just yet. At the upcoming Caravan Salon in Düsseldorf, Germany, Mercedes will reveal the Marco Polo - a versatile, stylish and decidedly contemporary take on the classic camper van.
Named after the famous Italian explorer, the Marco Polo was converted by Westfalia, an outfit which you might more closely associate with classic VW camper vans but which Daimler absorbed over a decade ago. Offering, according to the press release below, "a maximum of opportunities to be independent, free and spontaneous," the Marco Polo sleeps four thanks to the rear bench that electrically folds flat into a bed and the second berth under the pop-top. The flexible interior is decked out like you'd expect a modern Mercedes to be, with ambient LED lighting as well as wood, metal and piano black trim.
It's got an onboard kitchenette with two gas burners, a sink and fridge with a 10 gallons of fresh water and an even bigger waste tank. All that gear is shlepped around by a choice of four-cylinder turbodiesel engines ranging in output from 136 to 190 horsepower. The relatively compact form boasts a turning circle similar to a full-size sedan and a height designed to fit into most garages and car washes. All of which just might make us reconsider the appeal of traveling by camper van.

2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class interior caught in spy shots

Tue, 29 Jan 2013

With the redesigned 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class getting closer to production, the camera-wielding crew over at Autospies somehow managed to get inside of the car to snap some detailed spy shots. As the prototypes continue to shed camouflage, it would appear that Mercedes-Benz is getting closer to unveiling the car, and with the Geneva and New York auto shows coming up, it could be sooner rather than later.
From what we can see of this car's interior, the overall look of the S-Class' cabin isn't a ground-breaking departure from the current car, but it has been completely redesigned with more advanced technology. The styling is now even more upscale with larger swaths of wood, more shapely door panels (without the built-in armrest cubbies) and the concept-like two-spoke steering wheel. The highlight of this car though is probably the two massive digital screens with one being used for driver information and the other used for navigation, audio and infotainment systems. One other detail we noticed about this car is that it was equipped with the new 360-degree camera that debuted on the new GL-Class and will also be used on the 2014 E-Class. We also know that the next-gen S-Class will be getting the new cloud-based MBrace2 infotainment system.
As for the exterior design, it looks like the next S-Class will carry a similar profile as the current car, but we can see through the camouflage that the new styling will fit in better with current Mercedes-Benz products. Up front, the grille is much larger is flanked by aggressive LED-trimmed headlights, while the rear view of the car shows us the LED brake light now at the top of the rear window, a more pointed trunk opening and a more squared-off rear fascia with exhaust outlets pushed to the corners.
