For sale is an immaculate 2008 CLS63 AMG.  This is a keyless-go rocket.  This AMG is 0-60 in around 4 seconds and rides like silk.  It's whisper quiet on the highway and handles like it's on rails - Comfort AND race-car performance with Mercedes reliability.  This vehicle has never had any problems and is currently covered by a full transferable extended warranty.  Brand new windshield, brand new tires a few months ago (with warranty on all 4 tires) and recent major service (oil, tranny fluid, coolant, brake fluid, ect).  Recently had the hood and bumper repainted from rock chip damage (Arizona highways are notorious).
This car is a beast, completely comfortable, reliable and gets head turns and compliments everywhere you go.  It's stunning.  Pictures don't do it justice.  This car was lowered for aesthetic purposes and was photographed in 'Sport 2' mode.  'Sport 2' mode is 1.2 inches lower than in 'Comfort' or 'Sport 1' mode.   I had a carbon fiber airbox and new headers installed.  This additions added a more of a throaty sound and tons of performance without the obnoxious exhaust tone.
CLS63 comes with 2 key fobs (one purchased new last year), full owner manuals and all maint. records.

If you have any questions at all, please call at 480-261-0971.

Happy bidding!

Mercedes AMG and Cigarette Racing debut 2,220-HP electric motor boat

Thu, 14 Feb 2013

Take the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG E-Cell, stretch it and take off the wheels then make it float and you've basically got the just-unveiled Cigarette AMG Electric Drive Concept. Powered by an all-electric powertrain that offers 2,200 horsepower and 2,213 pound-feet of torque (and uses "numerous components" taken from the not-quite-as-yellow SLS AMG Coupé Electric Drive), the sleek concept is being called the "world's most powerful electric drive powerboat." What that means is a top speed of over 100 miles per hour from four 60-kWh lithium-ion batteries and two banks of six liquid-cooled, permanent-magnet synchronous electric motors. And the 240 kWh of total energy should provide plenty of juice out on the water.
Launched (but not literally) at the Miami International Boat Show today, the Cigarette AMG Electric Drive Concept is the result of a partnership between Mercedes-AMG and Cigarette Racing. The boat is 38 feet long (much longer than the 15-foot SLS) and is plastered with AMG branding on the sides and top of the bow above the matte chrome yellow paint (officially called AMG Electricbeam mango). Two 220-kW chargers can refill the batteries, dockside, in about seven hours.
The idea of a powerful electric boat is nothing new (Henrik Fisker talked about a plug-in hybrid watercraft late last year), but this is the first time we've seen Mercedes put its EV technology on the water. Anyone who's afraid of driving an EV in the rain should take note. Check out the complete press release below.

Highlights from the Goodwood Festival of Speed, including the McLaren P1 and a Ford Transit running the hill

Mon, 15 Jul 2013

The sole purpose of this post is as a time-waster, and since you shouldn't have to work to waste time, we've done it for you. In the numerous videos below you'll find cars that have lately been in the news tramping all over the grounds of Lord March's estate in Goodwood, England.
There's the McLaren P1 heading up the hill, the Jaguar Project 7, then a casually-driven Porsche 917 followed by an even-more-casually-driven Porsche 956, topped off by a Porsche 936 that is anything but casually driven. The next round is the flame-spitting Peugeot 405 T16 Pikes Peak from Climb Dance, a camera mounted on the Peugeot RCZ R after it showing you what the whole, uninterrupted run up the hill looks like. For a real head-turner, we couldn't embed it but there's Andy Reid blasting up the hill in a Ford Transit Supervan with a Cosworth 3000 V6 engine.
The modern racing contingent has Allan McNish doing the hill in the Audi R18 e-tron quattro he used to win Le Mans and Lewis Hamilton making lots of tire smoke in the Mercedes-AMG Petronas MGP-W02. For comparison, that's followed by Nick Heidfeld's record-setting run up the hill in 1999 in the McLaren MP4/14 . The classic racing contingent is headlined by 71-year-old Giacomo Agostini on an MV Agusta.

Maybach lost upwards of $500k on each vehicle sold

Wed, 08 Feb 2012

Daimler is shuttering Maybach in 2013 after seven years of production. In that time, the company's ultra-ultra-luxury arm managed to sell just 3,000 units, and CAR reports Daimler lost somewhere around $500,000 on each and every one of them.
Even with a ludicrous price tag of over $370,000 for an "entry" Maybach 57, the brand couldn't quite recoup the dizzying $1.33 billion Daimler poured into it since its (re)inception. Rumors ignited over a possible tie up with Aston Martin that would have resulted in a range of new and attractive models, but Daimler has instead decided to snuff out Maybach altogether.
We can hardly blame them.
