FOR SALE is my 2009 Mercedes-Benz C63 sedan that I have owned since buying it as a CPO car with 9K miles on it from Mercedes-Benz San Diego in June of 2010. The original owner was a MB San Diego salesman. It has been pampered since the day it was born. White with black leather interior, P2 package, Multimedia package including NAV, heated seats, rear sunshade. CPO warranty through Mercedes-Benz until December 2013. No harsh miles, no track abuse. If you are looking at this listing there is probably nothing I can tell you that you don't already know. This car is a MONSTER! With the exception of some super-high-performance exotics, this car is pretty much the king of the road. 451HP in a car about the size of a Toyota Corolla. The exhaust note is a musical masterpiece and the subject of YouTube videos. I need to clear some room at the homestead and sadly my time with this piece of automotive mastery is over. MSRP was right at $68K. You can own it for much less.
The Mercedes-Benz compact C-Class sport sedan is available in the U.S. with three different engines. C300 models have a 228-horsepower, 3.0L V6 engine, while C350 models get a 268-horsepower, 3.5L V6. The high-performance, limited-production C63 AMG comes with a 451-horsepower, 6.3L V8. Several different transmissions and drive systems are offered: A six-speed manual is standard on the C300 Sport model, but the C300 Luxury and C350 Sport come only with the seven-speed automatic transmission, which is optional on the C300 Sport. Both the C300 Sport and Luxury models are newly available with 4MATIC all-wheel drive. The new AWD system cuts weight and complexity by being integrated into the automatic transmission. The full-time system is optimized for wet and dry-road traction. C300 models come either in Luxury or Sport, but the C350 comes only in Sport trim. Luxury models come with a more traditional appearance, with a chrome grille and the three-pointed-star hood ornament, while the Sport model has a more aggressive front end that takes after the styling of Mercedes-Benz coupes. Each model also gets unique trim and wheels to fit. The C-Class has very supportive, comfortable front seats with plenty of head and leg room, but the back seat is somewhat tight compared to other cars its size. A single COMAND controller system replaces many smaller buttons providing a clean instrument panel appearance. In either model, ride comfort is impressive. Luxury models come with a Comfort Suspension, incorporating a special damper system that effectively has two modes--a stiff one for uneven surfaces or quick handling motion and a softer one to damp out vibration and road noise. The C63 AMG model starts with the same foundation as the other models, but it has plenty of cues to indicate its left-lane status. Fender flares, a bulging hood, larger front air intakes and LED taillamps help identify it on the outside, and inside it has special sport seats and distinctive trim. The powerful V-8 engine teams with the seven-speed automatic to reach 60 mph in only 4.3 seconds and a top speed of 186 mph, and it has the upgraded brakes and suspension to match. With the addition of pelvic airbags for 2009 on C300 and C350 models, the C-Class offers a very impressive level of passive and active safety features. Front side airbags and full-length curtain bags are standard in addition to the pelvic bags. Electronic stability control is standard, along with adaptive braking, and a brake-drying feature activates with the windshield wipers to help maintain peak brake performance even when wet. The C-Class, no matter what the model, comes very well equipped as a luxury car. Major options are left to a navigation system, Harman/Kardon surround sound audio, a panorama sunroof, and special trims and wheels. Sirius Satellite Radio is available.

Car technology I'm thankful and unthankful for
Mon, Nov 27 2017The past few years have seen a surge of tech features in new vehicles — everything from cloud-based content to semi-autonomous driving. While some of it makes the driving experience better, not all tech is useful or well thought out. Automakers who are adept at drivetrains, ride quality and in-cabin comforts often fail at infotainment interfaces and connectivity. From testing dozens of vehicles each year and in the spirit of gratitude, here are three car tech features I'm thankful — and a trio I could live without. Thanks Connected search: This seems like a no-brainer since everyone already has it on their smartphones, but not all automakers include it in the dashboard and as part of their nav systems. The best ones, such as Toyota Entune, leverage a driver's connected device to search for a range of services and don't charge a subscription or require a separate data plan for the car. I also like how systems like Chrysler Uconnect use Yelp or other apps to find everything from coffee to gas stations and allow searching via voice recognition. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto: It took two of the largest tech companies to get in-dash infotainment right. While they have their disadvantages (you're forced to use Apple Maps with CarPlay, for example), the two smartphone-integration platforms make it easier and safer to use their respective native apps for phoning, messaging, music and more behind the wheel by transferring a familiar UI to the dashboard — with no subscription required. Heated seats and steering wheels: I really appreciate these simple but pleasant features come wintertime. It's easy to get spoiled by bun-warmers on frosty mornings and using a heated steering wheel to warm the cold hands. I recently tested a 2018 Mercedes-Benz E400 Coupe that also had heated armrest that added to a cozy luxury experience. Bonus points for brands like Buick that allow setting seat heaters to turn on when the engine is remotely started. No thanks Automaker infotainment systems: Automakers have probably poured millions into creating their own infotainment systems, with the result largely being frustration on the part of most car owners. And Apple CarPlay and Android Auto coming along to make them obsolete. While some automaker systems, such as Toyota Entune and FCA's Uconnect, are easy and intuitive to use, it seems that high-end systems (I'm looking at you BMW iDrive and Mercedes-Benz COMAND) are the most difficult.
Race Recap: 2015 Hungarian Grand Prix is Magyar for 'What a race!'
Mon, Jul 27 2015Every driver on the Formula 1 grid dreams of taking home the silverware, but only one driver each year can do it. Barring disaster in 2015 it looks like it's going to be Lewis Hamilton. The Brit has been so dominating at the front of the grid on Saturday, we can't see how he'll miss out on winning the second annual FIA Pole Position Trophy. That's the accolade introduced last season in another manufactured attempt to give drivers something to work for on Saturday, since the FIA felt leading into the first corner didn't have the pull it used to. Hamilton took his ninth pole of the season in Hungary for Mercedes-AMG Petronas with a crushing lap that put him almost six tenths ahead of his teammate Nico Rosberg in second. All Hamilton needs is one more spot at the top of the grid this season, and he's the Pole Position trophy winner. Thrilling stuff. Behind Rosberg the gaps stayed smaller, Sebastian Vettel in the Ferrari a little more than a tenth behind Rosberg, Daniel Ricciardo in the Infiniti Red Bull Racing less than four one-hundredths behind Vettel. We feel almost as vexed watching Kimi Raikkonen as he feels driving – he's finally got a good Ferrari, now he can't get a good weekend. The front wing broke on his car in Free Practice 1, then a water leak in Free Practice 3 robbed him of setup time on the soft tire. He lines up in fifth about two tenths behind Ricciardo. The slow, tight Hungaroring didn't agree with the Williams chassis, Valtteri Bottas the first of the Grove team drivers in sixth, his teammate Felipe Massa two places back. Between them is Daniil Kvyat in the second Red Bull in seventh. Teenager Max Verstappen put in a good showing in the Toro Rosso to grab ninth, while Romain Grosjean in a wriggling, squishy, sliding Lotus classified his appearance in Q3 at all as "a miracle." As for the race that followed, we don't expect to see another like it for a long time – it was the real thrilling stuff, one shock after another. The drama began after the first parade lap, when Felipe Massa lined up out of position and the start was aborted. The drivers did another parade lap, then lined up with everyone in place. Mercedes got swamped as soon as the lights went out. Vettel ran around both of them and led the race into the first turn, Raikkonen had come from fifth to third by Turn 1, then got the inside line on Rosberg through Turn 2 to take second place.
Maybach officially discontinues all models for 2013
Tue, 14 Aug 2012The word "Maybach" has joined the long list of synonyms for the word "kaput." Mercedes-Benz released the price list for the 2013 models of its super-luxury sedans, with the price column simply stating "Discontinued" for each one of them.
The 2012 models, should there be any left for 11th-hour buyers, maintain the increased MSRPs that Daimler slapped on them late last year after it was known the brand would be terminated next year. But you might still be able to wrangle that $100,000 rebate if you ask nicely, or in Russian, or have Rick Ross ask for you.
It shouldn't be too long before we see the ultimate version of the next generation S-Class, the S600 Pullman, that will replace Maybach. Intriguingly, it's said the Pullman will be offered with every S-Class engine, even the four-cylinder diesel.
