 1993 MERCEDES BENZ 500 E

This is the car that started it all for super sedans from Germany. If you are already browsing this listing  you are aware of this cars roots and assembly and design by Porsche. I get stopped every day I drive this car with enthusiastic compliments. I can not get over how many people recognize what this car is wherever I go.My car has is constantly being photographed on the parkways when I drive around where I live. I have taken this car to several specialty car events all over the North East where it has earned nothing but praise and my car was also featured on the Road and Track website as one of their editors just fell in love with it and couldn't stop taking photos at the last event I attended.

This car clearly marks the end of a hand built money is no object philosophy for Mercedes Benz.  Good 500E are becoming tougher and tougher to find especially honest well cared for cars like mine.

Very Rare Car in Outstanding condition. I am not a dealer but an enthusiastic car collector and have enjoyed this car daily for the time I have acquired it from a prior collector down south.. I am not desperate to sell it however I currently own 12 collector cars mostly all pre 1970 classics and I have recently acquired a Ferrari which will take the garage space of this incredible Mercedes Benz by the end of this summer. I just do not have the garage space and refuse to leave this car outdoors even in the rain.

We have every single ownership and service documentation from the cars first oil change to present. that's 21 years of documentation and this is a car that has been cared for since new. It was a Texas car its entire life and there is NO RUST or issues of any kind. I have looked for 6 years to find a car of this cosmetic and mechanical quality in these colors and I may regret letting this one go. Do not let the mileage fool you because I have flown and driven all over the US looking at 500E with half the miles which leaked, ran horrible, vibrated to no extent and had every single piece of rubber dry rotted, electrical faults and cracked interior wood etc. Most Low mileage cars will require massive mechanical work to make them up to snuff unless you want to keep the car parked in storage.

This car has 100% original paint work with no scratches, dents.
The cars interior is exceptional with flawless burl walnut wood throughout
AMG Monoblock 2 which even these are becoming rare to find.
Euro front and Rear light
Euro Front Bumper Impact Strip Assembly
S 600 Front Grill

The photos will speak for themselves.

I have invested $5,000 in service  which included the following. All Parts were Mercedes Benz OEM and was performed by a Mercedes Benz Master Repair facility. Other items listed are additions. There may be a few other things I have done that I just can not recall right now.

New Motor Mounts both sides
New Trans Mounts
Driveshaft flex disc
New Front rotors
New Front Brake pads with Sensors
New Rear rotors
New Rear brake pads with Sensors
New Engine M119 Intake tubes both sides
ITG Air Intake Filters
Hunter 4 Wheel Alignment
New Exterior Door Mirror rubber seals
Custom Made Sportline Black Leather Ergo Steering Wheel ( impossible to find )
 Inner and Outer Tie Rods
New Front Shock Mounts and isolators
AMG Monoblock 2 wheels 18 inch with Michelin Pilot Super Sport Tires 265/35/18
Lorinser Styled Rear Exhaust

This car has had every single thing that would be required such as the harness upper and lower along with everything else including a new transmission along its life. Mercedes Benz looked this car over for hours and whatever they found that needed any attention I did it and this car can be driven cross country without a hesitation. I performed all this service because I am extremely particular about all of my cars.

Color is Pearl Black
Interior is Gray Leather
Includes H&R Sport Springs
Includes Original 500 E Coil Springs
Includes Perfect black original leather Sportline Steering Wheel
If you have any questions please contact me directly. I will assist with shipping and will also engage in any sales outside the country. The car is also for sale on a few German websites. Serious buyers only as I want the next owner to appreciate what he is getting. If the car does not get bid to where I would like it to be I will cancel the listing.

Three automotive tech trends to watch in 2018 and beyond

Thu, Dec 28 2017

Every year, technology plays a bigger and bigger role in the auto industry. To put things in perspective, 10 years ago iPod integration and Bluetooth were cutting-edge in-car innovations, and smartphones and apps weren't yet a thing since the first iPhone was only about six months old. And I can't recall anyone talking about autonomous cars. Compare that to today, with mainstream coverage of the auto industry dominated by autonomous technology, along with electrification and almost every move made by Tesla. These three topics were the most significant trends of car tech in 2017 and I believe they will continue to shape the auto industry in 2018 and beyond. Let's examine them. Full Autonomy Gets Closer to Reality While there were many developments this year that indicate we're inching closer to fully autonomous vehicles, I was behind the wheel for hours to witness one of them. In October I had the chance to test Cadillac Super Cruise on a 700-mile, 11-hour drive from Dallas to Santa Fe – and had my hands on the wheel for maybe 45 minutes max throughout the entire trip. Super Cruise is far from making the Cadillac CT6 or any GM vehicle fully autonomous, and has limitations such as functioning only on pre-mapped main highways. While it simply adds a layer of lane centering to adaptive cruise control, the technology will go a long way in making mainstream drivers more comfortable with letting machines take over. On a separate front, GM is pushing ahead with fully autonomous vehicles and announced last month that it plans to launch of fleets of self-driving robo-taxis in several urban areas in 2019. While most automakers are also in the race to make autonomous cars a reality, GM's turbocharging of its efforts appeared to be in response to Waymo, which announced just weeks earlier that its Early Rider Program in the Phoenix area would go completely driverless. The Early Rider Program launched last April, offering the public a chance to ride in Waymo's autonomous Chrysler Pacifica minivans. In this new phase of testing, Waymo is using its own employees as guinea pigs instead of the public while the vehicles operate without a human behind the wheel, and takes another giant step forward for fully autonomous driving.

Mercedes sues Ferrari-bound F1 engineer for stealing secrets

Tue, Dec 8 2015

Mercedes is suing one of its Formula One engineers, one Benjamin Hoyle, claiming he was planning to take sensitive data to a competitor. An experienced powertrain engineer, Hoyle came to Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains in 2012 with previous experience at Prodrive and Cosworth. One of four team leaders at the company, Hoyle headed up the performance application department until he notified his employers of his intention not to seek renewal of his contract that expires at the end of this year. Once they found out that Hoyle was switching to Ferrari, the higher-ups at Mercedes reassigned him to other, less sensitive duties, however Hoyle was reportedly discovered accessing race reports and other sensitive data relating to the performance of the team's engines. In response, Mercedes has filed suit against Hoyle, claiming that he "and potentially Ferrari have gained an unlawful advantage." The German automaker is seeking the return of all documents and the payment of its legal fees. It also seeks to prevent Hoyle from working for another F1 team throughout next season. Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains is the Daimler's F1 engine division. Based in Brixworth, UK, it was founded back in 1983 together with Ilmor before Mercedes bought it outright. Aside from the company's own works team, the outfit this year powered Williams, Lotus, and Force India, and previously worked with McLaren as well as Sauber. This is not the first time that a case of industrial espionage has emerged in F1. A similar controversy erupted in 2007 surrounding engineers Nigel Stepney and Mike Coughlan. The highly publicized incident became known as "Spygate" or "Stepneygate" and involved the illegal sharing of secrets between Ferrari, McLaren, and Renault. Win a car while supporting a charity this holiday season

Thu, Dec 9 2021

Autoblog may receive a share from purchases made via links on this page. Pricing and availability are subject to change. No donation or payment necessary to enter or win this sweepstakes. See official rules on Omaze.  The leaves have fallen, there is a crispness to the air and there have already been multiple forecasts of snow, which can only mean one thing: We're coming up on Christmas. While you've been busy thinking about what kind of gifts you're going to give your loved ones, we here at Autoblog have been deciding which dream car we'd like to see in our driveway on Christmas morning. A car for Christmas does seem a bit extreme and expensive, but thanks to these Omaze sweepstakes, it doesn't have to break the bank. Here are the current sweepstakes we'd like to win this holiday season. Win a DeLorean DMC-12 - Enter at Omaze James Riswick, West Coast Editor: Let me be clear, the DeLorean is a pretty terrible car. Its speedometer doesn't even go up to the fabled 88 mph. Seriously, look at the pictures: tops out at 85. Also, who services a DeLorean? And how much would it cost to maintain one? $AlloftheMoney or just $MostoftheMoney? So owning it could be a total headache, but at least by winning one through Omaze, you'd be relieved of the financial burden of buying one in the first place. You'd also get the chance to own one of the most iconic cars of all time, one that transcends car enthusiasm and is instantly recognizable by everyone as the "Back to the Future" car. Plus, "everyone" doesn't know that the DeLorean was actually a pretty terrible car. So, I already own James Bond's car from 1995, why not Doc Brown's from 1985? Win a 2021 Bentley Bentayga V8 - Enter at Omaze Eddie Sabatini, Production Manager: Why am I choosing a +$200K Bentley SUV? Because even if I could afford one I'd never be able to wrap my head around spending money on one. So why not try to win one by donating what I can afford to a good cause? I first saw the Bentley Bentayga up close and personal at the Frankfurt Motor Show (I forget which year but I'll never forget this SUV). And although it looks like the Bentayga Omaze is offering up doesn't have the opulent tailgate setup I fell in love with when I saw it in Frankfurt, I'd still enter to win. Win a 1968 Mercedes-Benz 280SL Pagoda - Enter at Omaze Byron Hurd, Editor: Few automotive marketing efforts stick out in my head more than the Mercedes-Benz holiday spots and magazine placements.
