 Here is your chance to own a classic piece of automobile history. The 450 slc was a very popular coupe in its time. It offers a full rear seat as the result of an extended wheel base. This particular 450 SLC has had an easy life. Originally it was owned by a doctor who went through 4 wives, several offices, but always managed to escape with his beloved Mercedes. The car has never been exposed to any harsh environment or corrosive materials. The paint and chrome are show room quality and the interior shows very little wear. It has always been garaged and well taken care of.

The vehicle is completely original including the original tools, keys, first aid kit, etc. The vehicle is shown with European headlights but the original American style headlights are included with the auction as well as a set of chrome fender guards.

The interior of the vehicle is done in blue leather with a burled walnut trim. The car comes equiped with an optional electric sunroof, AM/FM radio, AC, and comfortable leather bucket seats.

The 450 SLC is powered by 275.8 cubic inch V8. It comes with 4 wheel disc brakes, power steering, alloy wheels, and a 3 speed automatic transmission.

Artist bent out of shape over ticketed warped truck sculpture

If Germans and traffic cops have one thing in common, it's that they aren't necessarily known for their sense of humor. But at least one German parking enforcement officer had a laugh last week when they ticketed a sculpture of an impossible object. The infraction was for the 'Gross Violation of Physical Laws.' At first, Austrian artist Erwin Wurm was incensed that his sculpture, "Truck", which includes a Mercedes transporter MB100D truck curving up the side of a building, received a parking ticket, according to The Local. Wurm's work often features autos bent and twisted into unexpected shapes. He took to Facebook to express concern that he or the Center for Art and Media in Karlsruhe, Germany, might be stuck with the 30-euro bill. However, the ticket was all in good fun. City officials and even the clerk's office were in on the joke. Karlsruhe mayor Frank Mentrup announced he would make sure the ticket was cleared, despite the illegal parking job. "We think it's great if the fine men of this city think for themselves artistically," a spokeswoman for the arts center told CityLab. This isn't the first gravity-defying auto to be used in a work of art. In London, a town with notoriously tricky parking, Vauxhall suspended a full-scale Corsa hatchback from a strip of curved tarmac. It hung around for a few days in February. Mercedes-Benz USA considering moving south

Mercedes-Benz may be a German automaker first and foremost, but it's a global operation. Among its many offices around the world, the company employs some 800 staffers at its US headquarters in New Jersey. But that office could be moving down South in the near future. According to reports in the Atlanta Business Chronicle, the Wall Street Journal and Automotive News, Mercedes is looking into relocating its American head office from Montvale, NJ, where it's been based since 1972, to one of several locations under consideration below the Mason-Dixon line. Among the front-runners is Atlanta, where Porsche bases its North American operations. The presence of a trained workforce, necessary infrastructure, compliant officials and proximity to a major hub for international air traffic could make the Georgian metropolis an attractive proposition for Mercedes. Several locations in North Carolina are also said to be under consideration, as well. Either way, MBUSA's relocation to the South would put it closer to its assembly plant in Tuscaloosa, AL, and to the Port of Brunswick near Savannah from which it ships out those vehicles made in Alabama to points overseas. The relocation project is reportedly being handled by commercial real-estate firm JLL Inc, which is helping Toyota handle its relocation from southern California and Ohio to Texas. Sources don't expect, however, for New Jersey to let Mercedes go without a fight. The state's Grow NJ Assistance Program could offer MBUSA an attractive incentives package to stay in Montvale. Daimler, BMW partnering up on wireless charging

Plug-in vehicle advocates can get all warm and fuzzy about two Germany heavyweight automakers getting together for the sake of wireless charging. That's because Mercedes-Benz parent Daimler and BMW will work together to speed up development of a wireless charging system. While not a ton of details were divulged, we can still rejoice. Daimler says the system will consist of an on-board coil and another coil that can be placed within the garage floor or someplace similarly stationary. The system will charge at 3.6 kilowatts and with 90 percent efficiency. No details were released about the system's price or when it would be available, but Daimler shouldn't wait too long, since other OEMs are already talking about their own wireless charging systems. Daimler obviously has some skin in the game here, since Mercedes-Benz will start sales of its S500 plug-in hybrid in September. That model, which was first shown off last August at the Frankfurt Auto Show, can go as far as 20 miles on electric power alone and will get fuel economy of about 84 miles per gallon equivalent. And it's easy to imagine an i3 or i8 driver getting a kick out of never needing to touch a cord. This spring, reports sprung up that fellow German automaker Volkswagen was preparing a wireless charging option for its electric vehicles as soon as 2017. Wireless charging of electric drive and plug-in hybrid vehicles: PLUG IN HYBRID - unplugged One of the next steps on the way to perfect electric drive and plug-in hybrid vehicles is wireless charging. Daimler and BMW have now agreed on jointly developing and implementing one common technology. Wireless charging of the battery will make the handling of electric drive and plug-in hybrid vehicles even easier. Mercedes-Benz will commence fleet testing of this "unplugged" technology with the S 500 Plug in HYBRID soon, in order to develop a real S-Class solution in recharging the high voltage battery in terms of comfort and ease of operating in the near future. The system consists of two components: a secondary coil integrated into the under tray of the car and a primary coil integrated into a floor plate that can be placed on a garage floor for instance. Electrical energy is transmitted contact-free without the need for a cable, at a power rate of 3.6 kW and with a degree of efficiency of 90%.
