You are bidding on a rare black interior and black exterior 1985 Mercedes Benz 300D Turbo; I say rare because I've had it for over ten years and although I see many of these cars in Los Angeles I have never seen another one black on black. I'm told that 1985 was the last year they made this model so it goes without saying that it was built best in its class. Newly rebuilt automatic transmission, less than a year old, it runs great and shifts smoothly. I've repaired the driver side front seat, it was old and ripped. New front brake rotors and pads about 4 months old, they sometimes make a squeaking sound but the mechanic says it's because they are fairly new rotors and pads and the sound should go away soon with some wear and tear but please don't take my word. Brand new Michelin tires, about a few months old or so but driven about 1000 miles on them. The heater does not blow hot air but it never has and I never fixed it since I do not need it in Los Angeles. The air conditioning is not cold enough in my opinion. I've repaired all four window gears because at one time they each got stuck with the window staying down; the driver side back window is making noise and not going down. Typical old car scratches and minor dings here and there on the paint, please see pictures. The sunroof works just fine but at the end of opening or closing the sunroof it makes a gear like roaring sound; but again it closes and opens just fine. I've always requested the use of original MBZ parts from the mechanics and paid extra for them to just make sure I get everything in a good working condition; that includes the proper oil changes and filters. I've had this car for over 10 years, about 8 of those years on average I drove it about 6 miles per day during the week; it's been a great car so far but I have to drive farther and longer distances now so I bought a new car and it is time for this one to go. The buyer will be responsible to inspect the car, pick it up in person and pay for the remainder in cash. Feel free to ask me questions, I'll be happy to answer whatever I can. |

Toyota and Mercedes begin the Super Bowl ad teases with dads and hares
Tue, Jan 20 2015Advertising Age says pregame buzz is where Super Bowl advertisers really build momentum for their Big Game commercials, so let the teasing continue. We've seen the 30-second spot for the Lexus NX, Mercedes-Benz and Toyota are next out of the tunnel with campaigns that focus on a fable and fathers, respectively. The Mercedes tease gets former NFL wide receiver Jerry Rice lining up a talking-heads debate with eight-year-old Andrew Hunter about whether Hunter's hare could beat a tortoise in a race, but it's a disaster before it even begins. In what will be a continuing storyline, a social media component lets people side with #TeamTortoise or #TeamHare, with "a Big Race viewing party" going to a lucky winner. Mercedes also promises there'll be a hero at the end, which we imagine will something in the Three-Pointed-Star family as opposed to the Testudinae or Leporidae families. Toyota's all about the biological family, rolling out a series of tweets and Vine videos showing off ex-NFL'ers and their kids to hype the "One Bold Choice Leads to Another" campaign for the Camry. The profiled paterfamiliae will be examples of those "who have contributed to their families' lives in bold ways." A 60-second spot during the pre-game will feature Paralympic athlete Amy Purdy, then those stand-up dads will get their own 60 seconds during the second quarter. The social media tag for this one is #OneBoldChoice. You can watch Mercedes' opening salvo above, and check out a Toyota tweet with ex-quarterback Kurt Warner below. Consumer Reports declares most and least loved cars [w/video]
Wed, Dec 3 2014Consumer Reports is crunching the numbers from its annual owner-satisfaction survey, and part of that process is finding out how attached drivers are to their cars. CR simply asks readers of models up to three years old if they would buy the same vehicle again in light of their entire ownership experience, and tallies the results. After looking at the responses for about 350,000 vehicles, it turns out that people really love a certain California-built, electrically powered luxury sedan. That's right, this year's the overall winner was the Tesla Model S with a whopping 98 percent of owners saying they would purchase another one (the Model S also won this award last year, with 99 percent satisfaction). The Chevrolet Corvette Stingray came in a close second with 95 percent of drivers hoping to park another one in their garage. A few models weren't quite so favored, though. The Nissan Versa Sedan was the least loved model among its owners; a mere 42 percent said that they would purchase another. The aging Jeep Compass didn't do much better, with just 43 percent of drivers willing to buy the softroader again. On average, about 70 percent of owners say they would buy their car again, and only four cars ranked below 50 percent in CR's findings. Check out the video above to see some of the winners and losers in a few of CR's categories. If you're a subscriber, you can check out the full list on its website. Mercedes-Benz S-Class spied once again
Fri, 08 Feb 2013As evidenced by how little camouflage the next-generation Mercedes-Benz S-Class has been caught wearing lately, it can't be too much longer until the car will get its official debut. In our newest shots of the yacht-sized luxo sedan, the cladding still covers up the headlights, front fascia and most of the rear end, but we finally have an almost undisguised look at the rest of the car's lines.
Considering previous spy shots had more camo that better (or fully) concealed the S-Class' body, some of the more obvious things we see in these images include the prominent grille, the CLS-Class-inspired bodyside creases, the pointed trunk opening and, most interestingly, a lack of fancy exhaust outlets. Unlike other S-Class prototypes we've seen, this car does not have integrated outlets, but it does have two pipes on the left side of the car. All current S-Class models in the US and Europe feature a dual exhaust layout on each side of the car, so while some of our questions about the car get answered, it would appear that more are just arising.
