Good Day, I am selling my 1987 Mercedes benz 300 SDL luxury edition. A wise family member once told me that when you buy a used car you're not buying a car so much as you are buying the person selling it. Keeping that in mind I want to be as honest and forthcoming with the information provided in this listing as possible. I bought this vehicle from an acquaintance who bought it from a local dealer who bought it from an auction out here in Las Vegas. The car has passed through the hands of several owners. Being that this is easily a collector's car this is nothing out of the ordinary. I have a detailed background check through "auto-check" so you may see for yourself.
I have a clean and clear title in hand. The vehicle runs well. Everything works: powered locks, powered windows (except rear passenger window does not have power, may need a new mount , not a hard fix), motor controlled seat adjustment still works great, all lights work, and mirrors.
The engine is a 3 liter 6-cylinder diesel engine. My experience with these engines tell me they are true work horses and can virtually outlive the roads on which they drive. The car does need to be started in neutral if she is not warmed up , when warmed up she will start just fine from park (This is caused by the "neutral safety switch" which can easily be replaced, the part runs anywhere from $50-$75 new. This "DOES NOT" affect how she drives.)
She also has brand new tires installed. Original paint, some oxidation on the roof and the hood but she still shines. The interior of the car could some tlc and work when it comes to the aesthetics , of which do not compromise the usability of the car. The glove box stays open as the latch needs to be repaired. The seats are a little cracked up, age has taken its toll on the center wood panel . Passenger seat will also need to be fixed as the left side of the seat has a broken weld allowing it to lean further back then it should when sitting in it. There is also a tear on the upper middle portion of the rear seats as well as a few on the lower portion of the rear seats.
Things to keep in mind when looking at this car. This is a collectible classic. Mercedes only produced 13,830 of these cars and were only in production for two years, 1986 and 1987. they were sold only in the U.S. and Canada. It was a luxurious vehicle that in its heyday off the lot would cost buyers $45,000-$50,000, and these were prices from 27 years ago.
What I tried to capture is everything I would like to see if I was looking at this vehicle. I didn't spruce her up or try to make her look like anything she isn't. She could use a little wash and vacuuming. If there is anything else I could do for you please feel free to let me know, I am available to take more pictures and answer any of your questions.
Information to the auction winner: Payment is due in full within 3 days of the auction's close. I would prefer to shake your hand and give you the keys, title, and bill of sale in person , however if you cant pick up the vehichle in person we can make arrangments . Once payment in full has been recieved If you are not able to make it down for me to hand you the the title and bill of sale in person I will send certified mail the title and a completed bill of sale ( of which you will still need to sign once it reaches you). All signatures on the bill of sale must be original. If you are able to make it to Las Vegas to pick the vehicle up I am not against going to the dmv with you to assure smooth transfer of ownership out of good faith. It will however be up to you to arrange pickup or the shipping of this vehicle. I understand arrangements may need to be made so Im flexible on when you need to take her, Just dont leave me waiting a month for somebody to come and bring her home, as Im not a storage unit... Good luck and I am sure it will be a pleasure doing business with you.
On Mar-11-13 at 22:18:05 PDT, seller added the following information:
I would also like to add that I had a mechanic look it over before I bought it, you are welcome to do the same. Send me a message to set up the details if you would like to have somebody look at it or if you would like to see it yourself, I will check frequently. The car is sold as it is. Good luck to you all.

Foreign automakers pay from $38 to $65 per hour to non-union workers
Sun, Mar 29 2015As leaders for the United Auto Workers gather in Detroit for their Special Convention on Collective Bargaining to work out the negotiating stance for this year's new labor agreements with the Detroit 3 automakers, what they most want to do is figure out how to eliminate the two-tier wage scale. However, the lower Tier 2 wage has allowed the domestic automakers to reduce their labor costs, hire more workers, and compete better with their import competition. As it stands, per-hour labor rates including benefits are $58 at General Motors, $57 at Ford, and $48 at Fiat-Chrysler – a reflection of FCA's much greater number of Tier 2 workers. The Center for Automotive Research released a study of labor rates (including benefits) that put numbers to what the imports pay: Mercedes-Benz pays the most, at an average of $65 per hour, Volkswagen pays the least, at $38 per hour, and BMW is just a hair above that at $39 per hour. Among the Detroit competitors, Honda workers earn an average of $49 per hour, at Toyota it's $48 per hour, Nissan is $42 per hour, and Hyundai-Kia pays $41 per hour. The lower import wages are aided by their greater use of temporary workers compared to the domestics. Automotive News says the ten-dollar gap between those foreign camakers and the domestics turns out to about an extra $250 per car in labor, which adds up quickly when you're pumping out many millions of cars. That $250-per-car number is one that, come negotiating time, the Detroit 3 will want to reduce, as the UAW is trying to raise both Tier 1 and Tier 2 wages. Another wrinkle is that the domestic carmakers are considering the wide adoption of a third wage level lower than Tier 2. Some workers who do minor tasks like assembling parts trays kits and battery packs already make less than Tier 2, but the UAW will be quite wary about cementing yet another wage scale at the bottom of the system while it's trying to fight a bigger battle at the top. Lewis Hamilton wins Spanish Grand Prix, takes 17-point lead over Vettel
Sun, May 13 2018BARCELONA, SPAIN – Lewis Hamilton won the Spanish Grand Prix in a commanding Mercedes one-two on Sunday to stretch his Formula One lead over Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel, who finished fourth, to 17 points. The victory, in a race that stayed dry despite the threat of rain, was the Briton's second of the season, 64th of his career and third at the Circuit de Catalunya. It also set a record, one that Hamilton had previously shared with seven times champion Michael Schumacher, of 41 wins from pole position. "This is more like it, let's keep this up," Hamilton told his celebrating team over the radio as he swept past the checkered flag. "Today the car and myself, I felt that synergy which I hadn't been feeling for the whole year," he added in a pre-podium interview after parking up in pit lane. "It's a good feeling." Hamilton's win followed on from the lucky victory that fell into his lap in Azerbaijan two weekends ago, but Sunday had nothing to do with chance and all to do with the champions being back to their best. He now has 95 points to Vettel's 78 after five rounds of the 21-race championship. Mercedes regained the lead in the constructors' standings and are now 27 points clear of Ferrari who had 2007 world champion Kimi Raikkonen retire from the race. Finland's Valtteri Bottas was second, a hefty 20.5 seconds behind, with Dutch 20-year-old Max Verstappen completing the podium for Red Bull – his first of an incident-filled season. Australian Daniel Ricciardo was fifth for Red Bull, ahead of Denmark's Kevin Magnussen for Haas and Spaniards Carlos Sainz (Renault) and Fernando Alonso (eighth for McLaren). Sainz's points lifted Renault ahead of McLaren and into fourth place by a single point. Mexican Sergio Perez was ninth for Force India and Monegasque rookie Charles Leclerc took the final point for Sauber. While Hamilton pulled away cleanly at the start, and Vettel passed Bottas into the first corner for second place, there was carnage behind as Romain Grosjean spun his Haas in a cloud of smoke. The Frenchman then collected the Renault of Nico Hulkenberg and Pierre Gasly's Toro Rosso in a major smash, fortunately without injury, that brought out the safety car for the first six laps. Stewards gave him two penalty points and imposed a three-place grid drop for the next race in Monaco.
